Mairead and Cremanath

Pronunciation: mah rayd
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Former craft: Trader, Runners, Weaving
Origin: Lower Fort region
Rank: Weyrling
Appearance
Considering she is only of medium build, she is notably strong and energetic. Her wild sandy-colored hair is wavy and cut to her shoulder. Her bangs are long, falling between nose and upper lip. Golden-brown and narrow, her eyes give the appearance that she is always either squinting or smiling... and she probably is. Her skin is pale and covered in pale freckles.
Fashion
Inside, she has a habit of wearing sleeveless shirts, usually of a green-to-blue shade of cloth. This shows off her pale skin and well-shaped arm muscles, a by-product of working with runners since she was small. Her dark brown calf-length boots are fur-lined, as is her cloak. She hates it when her feet get cold, so she tends to wear several pairs of socks. Breeches vary from leather or cotton to even the occasional skirt, which she doesn't seem to think much of, despite her tomboyish nature.
Personality
Positive traits: Good-natured, Gamely, Integrous, Protective, Resourceful
Negative traits: Dense, Gruff, Impetuous, Short-tempered
Though she seems gruff on the first impression, she is generally good-natured and hasn't found someone she dislikes yet. She can be a little dense at times, especially when it comes to matters of the heart, though she means well. She can be impetuous and short-tempered, and will take charge of a situation provided she sees it's needed. She doesn't like to unless someone is being an idiot.
As mentioned, she is energetic but also has good stamina, and game enough to do the jobs most people complain about. Of course, she complains a bit too, but give her a skin of hot spiced wine or klah to accompany her in the cold and she'll be happy enough.
She likes people, food, and loves her dragon. She dislikes bitter cold but adores auroras and snowball fights in the Bowl.
History
Before coming to the Weyr, Mairead lived with her nomadic family in a semi-permanent settlement like the Lilcamps and similar tribes. Mairead grew up traveling between her family's Summer and Winter settlements, and trading en route with various Holdings and even the mines, for meat and raw materials (fur, stone, etc.) in exchange for their crafts, clothing, music, runners, and company.
Her family are crafty people who specialize in stone jewelry, and the occasional sculpture, as well as cloth and wool crafts (knitting, dyeing of yarn, etc.). Just about anything that can be done "on the road" is learned and performed by someone. Another thing they are known for is trading between the holds Runners of the Ruatha region. They will gentle and train young runners on their trip between Holds, or bring a trainer who can. The occasional citizen will specialize in an instrument, taught by a traveling harper. These are played on both traditional instruments and well as ones made by the student or a family member from materials such as bone or reeds.
When she was a girl of 14 Turns, she was Searched by one of Fort's searchdragons and decided to go with them. It was not just that Mairead wanted a solid shelter over her head once Threadfall would come, but she knew legends of those caught out during a Fall and she would never allow that to happen if she could help it. It is a strong feeling that she wants to protect heir family, and it is worth being stuck in one place for the rest of her life. She also prefers the relative warmth and freedom of thought and movement which comes with Weyrlife. Besides, what could be more freeing than a ride on a dragon? Her Search was proof of that. Little did she know how militant Weyr life could be! And for that, too, she was well suited. She liked having a set schedule to live by so that she knew how everything stood.
There she impressed on the Sands by her second Hatching. She and Cremanath are in some ways almost polar opposites (loud and awkward versus silent and svelte), but their hearts are in the same place.

Cremanath
Colour: Blue
Appearance
Cremanath was born at a length of 7'3" from nose to tail tip, and a height of 2'5". He is large but with a build that can be described as slight. And despite being a large Blue, he is much more akin to a Green physically. Also, he rarely shows any of the newborn clumsiness his siblings have.
He is a bright medium blue color, covered in many branching powder-blue swooshes with curls on the ends. The effect is like abstract vines all over his body.
Personality
Positive traits: Graceful, Elegant, Kind, Independent
Negative traits: Quiet, Timid, Antisocial
Cremanath is a quiet individual. That is not a problem in and of itself, except that he sometimes forgets that others are around and even forgets to speak. This becomes a habit and he becomes more antisocial. On the other hand, he is kind. He will drop everything to help another out even if he may seem to be busy with something else.
He is elegant and graceful. All of those long hours spent on his own are spent with gliding movements and little tricks, investigating small things that others might miss, interesting flowers or rocks. He may pounce like a kitten or leap in place like a deer. He can be rather unpredictable that way.
Background
On Cremanath's hatching day, he seemed to glide on sure feet across the Sands and touched not a single person among the Candidates, until she found Mairead. She stood stock still, nervous despite herself and waiting for anything and everything to happen. And for Cremanath it did, in rainbows.
Like his clutch siblings, Cremanath is at risk to develop the Plague. He is at Plague Risk Level 3.
