◆ In order to catch up on today, Hypnos has binged a bunch of media and most of his knowledge of the modern world comes from movies and literature, rather than hands-on experience.
◆ From this, he was made aware of his alias "Sandman" in other cultures. With westerners being more familiar with The Sandman than Hypnos, he has been gradually accepting this new identity. Though, he doesn't understand the correlation between sleep and getting sand in your eyes, cause that'd probably just hurt, but he digs the name and the songs that are apparently about him.

┏Morley doesn't immediately appear as the workaholic that he is; with a laid back and jovial demeanor, he is the last person most would expect to be married to his job. Though, when you're essentially the god of sleep, it can't be too hard to imagine that the work is anything but stressful. Having never been one to question the role he was given, Morley has lived with a very go-with-the-flow approach to life. From his close dealing with humans, he has come to care for them greatly and hates seeing their world in such a state of chaos and unbalance after Death disappeared.

■ One of thousands of siblings called the Somnia, Morley was born during an unspecified time in an unspecified order. He does not know his age in relation to the other Somnia, or if he is even the only Morpheus, but from what he has come to believe, he may be one of, if not the oldest of the Somnia.
■ For as long as he can remember, Morley had worked to balance the order of sleep alongside the Reapers, the order of death. Morley would best describe his work as a "family business," except he never really had a choice in the matter. Despite this, Morley has been dutiful to his position as a Somnia.
■ Aside from the thousands of siblings, the Somnia also share a strong connection to the Reapers, who they are paired with for work. Morley was paired up with the firstborn of Thanatos, known by most as Mike.
■ Together, Mike and Morley ascended the ranks until they were selected to become the new heads of their department, and essentially become Death and Sleep itself. While Morley was thrilled to have the honor of following in his ancestor Hypnos' footsteps, Mike was not so much and bailed. With the Reapers having no leadership with the firstborn gone, the state of death became unstable, leaving unbalance in the mortal world. Fearing for the safety of the humans, Morley began searching for Mike in order to bring him back and restore order.

Quote: Morpheus was born one of many to Hypnos and Pasithea. Hypnos, as the God of Sleep, gave each of his thousand children a job somewhat akin to the Reapers, where rather than escort the souls of the deceased into their afterlife, they would help mortals sleep and dream. Each Somnia had a specialty when it came to the dreams they would enter or create, and Morpheus' was mimicking the human form and behaviors—and overtime, developing a greater understanding of them than any of his siblings. Having perfected his human impression, Morpheus was able to interact with mortals during their dreams, where he learned about the thousands of people he visited and the many things they would reveal to him in those dreams. He soon became the most well known of the Somnia, bringing mortals pleasant dreams and warm company.
As time went on, Morpheus saw many changes in mortals, for better or worse. Though, the need for sleep and dreams always remained and as the modern age approached and people began to stop believing in gods, Morpheus' relationship with them remained mostly unchanged. Even if an individual didn't believe in Morpheus per se, there were other names he was given, with one of his favorites being "The Sandman." This eventually became more recognizable and he took to introducing himself as such.
Though Morpheus had become accustomed to various human behaviors and customs during their dreams, he had experienced very little of it in person, if at all. His perception of humanity was a little off because of this, though he never really felt the need to interact with them outside of their dreams. That was, until now.
Over the past few years, more dreams than usual had become worrisome. Visions of impending apocalyptic events—demons, angels, the lot of it. Morpheus had seen plenty of nightmares in his day, but this was something different. These dreams were all so similar and began appearing around the same time. Interested and perturbed, Morpheus began to scry dreams to pull as much information on the events he feared would soon unfold.
With dreams often being vague and symbolic in nature, Morpheus was only able to cobble together a hazy interpretation of the coming events. One of these interpretations being the appearance of the Four Horsemen, one of which he knew well and was akin to family. Wanting to better understand what was happening, Death's involvement in it, and how he could stop the nightmares from happening, Morpheus set off into the real world for the first time.
The physical world was much different from what he expected. Dreams were capricious, with little order or logic to them, but this new world—the real world Morpheus had just stepped into was anything but. It was cold and rigid, with strange rules and conducts he couldn't understand. People generally seemed less happy while they were awake. In their dreams, humans were usually very receptive to speak with him, but here, they seemed to find his friendliness bothersome. It seemed that Morpheus needed to make a few amendments to his human impression.
Now introducing himself as "Morley," Morpheus has been watching and listening for more information on this impending apocalypse, both in person and through dreams—and more importantly, finding Death before something else does.

Quote: Morpheus claims to be an interdimensional being that discovered Earth through the dreams of humans.
He is psionic in nature and began to explore the minds of humans while they were asleep and willing to engage with him.
After many reports of people encountering the same man in their dreams, as well as detecting unusual activity, The Watchers managed to track Morpheus down to figure out what he wanted. He didn't want anything from Earth, but simply found humans interesting and endearing. After concluding that he was not a threat, Watch asked if he was willing to join them and keep an eye out on Earth and its humans, to which he obliged.
His name "Morpheus" is more of a nickname, after one of the Greek gods of sleep and dreams. His "real name" isn't something that can be translated to the ways humans communicate, as it was more felt than spoken.
His human guise is an illusion created by his psionic abilities, as his true appearance is less corporeal. Overall, the true nature of Morpheus is more a presence, or something felt, than a physical entity.
