Appearance: Astriana stands at 5'8 and weighs about 115 lbs. She has whitish-blonde hair that is usually up in a pony-tail or going down her back in a cascade of curls. She has ice blue eyes and if it wasn't for the scowl usually etched on her lips, she would be considered a real beauty. She wears very simple clothing, not liking to draw a lot of attention to herself. Her skin is very white, as if she had porcelain skin. She has a fit body, since she has to be prepared for anything with the beasts she works with.
Personality: Astriana is very protective of her family and those she deems worthy of her loyalty, just like her twin brother and her younger brother. If she feels any of those close to her is in danger, she will do what she can to keep them safe. She wants the best for them and will do everything in her power to make sure they get it. For any outside her circle, expect to get some very cutting and insulting words from her. It isn't rare for you to hear such things as "You are such a dimglow, do you not know what you are doing?" or "I could do better than you with my eyes closed or asleep." She does not tolerate people who have proven themselves incapable of what she deems simple things or bullies. She is very blunt and is one who will call it how she sees it, she doesn't pull punches. If there is someone she doesn't like, she is quick at pointing out their flaws and giving them a hard time. Her harsh attitude towards most people is probably why it takes time for her to make friends.
Astriana is seen as very cold and doesn't seem to express most emotions, at least to most people. However, for those she is close to, she can be very warm and loyal. Even when out in public, for those who are dear to her, they can see signs of how she is really feeling. It could be as simple as a twinkle in her eyes or a look of fear, but those close will always be able to pick up the subtle hints of her emotions. It takes awhile for people to get through her defenses, since she feels a need for people to prove themselves to her. She has trouble trusting people, for fear that they will hurt her or abandon her. When someone does hurt her or betray her trust, she holds onto that pain internally for quite awhile. It takes her a long time to forgive those who have hurt her or those she cares about. However, her brothers and uncle always have her loyalty, all three of them are too dear to her for that to ever change.
She is very confident when she is in her element, not hesitating or second guessing herself. She is not afraid of doing the hard work she needs to get the job done. This confidence is seen the most when she is working with all the creatures she does, since she is very gifted in this area. Nothing, except her family and close friends, gives her such a pleasure as when she is around them. It gives her a thrill to help teach them everything they are capable of learning and coming up with new ways for them to be useful. She believes sometimes it just takes a little hard work and creativity to find new ways they can help their Weyr. She treats the beasts she works with like family, feeling able to let down her guard around them. For whatever reason, she gets along better with creatures than she does with most humans. In her mind, they do not have to prove themselves, they are perfect to her. She is also very respectful to those of higher ranks, as long as she feels they have earned their titles.
History: Astriana was born as one of a set of twins, the younger one by a few minutes. Astri doesn't remember much about her parents, since they usually didn't have much time for her and her brothers. When her and her twin were about ten turns old, a sickness swept through their home and took their parents from them. It also effected their younger brother, in a way they had not imagined. This caused the three kids to become very close, they would look out for one another. Luckily, an uncle of their's who was a rider in Fort Weyr took them in. He seemed to be pretty gruff, but the trio would soon learn that he was a big teddy bear around them. Astri has always looked up to her uncle, he was a role model to her.
Once the children had settled in, both of the twins had decided to follow their passions into crafts that interested them. Astriana had a love for creatures of every kind, so decided beastcraft was perfect for her. Also, since she knew her little brother would need help getting around, she began to train firelizards to help those with disabilities. This was probably her favorite thing to do, knowing she would be helping her little brother and those like him. She knew it would take time to train them, but she was alright with it.
When she was about twelve, that was when the sickness swept through many of the dragons in the area. She worried about her uncle's, though the got sick, managed to survive it. Thankfully, candidacy provided a mental escape from all the tragedy happening around them. In fact, her twin brother even joined her in standing. For the first few years, both of the twins did not seem to have any luck. That didn't deter Astri, she knew she would find her bondmate, she just had to be patient and trust the baby dragons. She was even impressed when greens began eventually clutching. The thought a green could be as good as a gold brought renewed hope into the girl's heart. So, she worked with her firelizards, while she waited for the right dragon to find her worthy.
Never would she imagine that her life would change when a green quietly hatched from her shell. She had not expected a gold from the South to come, especially how dangerous it could be. Knowing these baby dragons would have a chance to get sick, she almost didn't go. It was lucky she did as Astri watched what seemed to be a gentle green encouraging her siblings, it was clear this green was going to be something. She even watched as the green worked with a blue brother, to help one of their stuck white sibling by breaking the shell for them. Though none of her face showed it, she was very impressed as the green supported their sibling over to the candidates. She was reminded of how she was with her own siblings and it warmed her heart, especially with the blue trailing behind as if a bodyguard. Her eyes watched as the white impressed and the green encouraged her remaining siblings. Just as things seemed to quiet down, a brown hatched out and Astri watched in shock as the brave green was attacked. Anger filled her heart, what had the green done to deserve such treatment, she had thought? However, she kept the anger to herself, which was easier to do as some of the others came to protect their sister. And the blue who had helped her free their white sibling, charged into battle against the brown.
The battle was awful to watch, especially seeing how the brave blue seemed to get the brunt of the attacks. Even the hurt green called out weakly, which sent a pang through Astri's heart. Another tussle between the brave blue and the brown ensued, with the blue looking victorious, until the brown regained the upper hand. Thankfully, a green sister managed to get the brown to stop and go impress to his rider. Her eyes returned to the green, feeling so worried, seeing as she closed her eyes. It seemed her siblings still on the sands did too, including the blue who had managed to his feet. Another blue even did tricks, to keep her awake, which showed how much these little hatchlings cared. She watched in awe as the green managed to get to her feet and her siblings helped her over to where they all stood. She never expected such an amazing green to want someone like her, however, as soon as those rainbow eyes looked in her direction she knew. Her mind and Lintoth's connected and she rushed over to her brave dragon. Scooping her up, she held her tightly, letting her know how very proud she was of her. Then she took her to the feeding tables, to get patched up.

Appearance: She is a light green, with speckles all over her body. She is very sturdy in build, her stamina higher than average for a green. She is slower than some of her green siblings, but she is very nimble, loving to dance in the sky.
Personality: Lintoth is always there, ready to give a claw wherever it is needed. She enjoys being able to nurture those around her, providing them with comfort and love whenever they need it. She is always one with an encouraging word and help, seeing the best in everyone. She feels she needs to be a leader in her class and eventually for all the dragons in the Weyr. She wants to command everyone she knows, she feels she is the right dragon for the job. She believes in gentle guidance, coaxing those around her to do better, instead of telling them exactly what to do. Unfortunately, she is too pacifistic for her own good, wanting to do things as peacefully as she is able. She only fights if she believes there is no other choice, which sometimes means people can get the upper hand on her if she is not firm enough.
This is a very wise green, for one so young, she seems to have so much experience in her. She knows what the best ways to do things are and tries to get others to see it too. She is also spiritual, believing that they needed to respect themselves and others. All creatures great and small are important in her eyes and made the Weyr powerful, which include her rider's flits. This also leads her to be just, trying to determine what is best for everyone. Knowing that others look to her, she tries to make decisions that help instead of hinder.
She can be very anxious sometimes, when others are not getting what she means. She forgets sometimes that people need more direction, that gentle guidance is not always enough. So when things do not go as she planned, she gets worried that maybe she did something wrong. She means well, she just needs to remember that people learn need instruction, while others just need a nudge in the right direction. She can also be seen as a bit meddlesome, trying to make sure everyone is doing fine. Even if that means trying to guide others, when they do not wish to be guided. Really, she just wants what is best, but sometimes she needs to learn that others have their own desires and don't always need her help.
