Tanner Joisann

Age: 19
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft: TannerCraft
Rank: Apprentice
Origin: TannerCrafthall, Igen Hold
Appearance:
She stands at about 5'8" tall, with a medium, muscular build. Caramel-colored, slightly wavy hair falls to her shoulders in one length. Her eyes are medium-brown and deeply set. Her skin is somewhat pale because she is not one to particularly seek out the sunshine. Few or no freckles mark her skin.
For clothing, she likes to wear the products of her trade in a variety of colors and styles, from cottony-soft sueded shirts to more durable leather pants and boots. She is her own personal guinea pig, and will wear more decorated, detailed, and finer quality clothing as she becomes more proficient in her craft. She always smells of leather.
Personality:
Quiet and private by nature, she generally keeps to herself. Not one to start a conversation, but she is willing enough to talk once a conversation is underway. She is independent, and tends to forget herself in her work because there is so much to do: she is one to see a project all the way through from start to finish.
Positive traits: Noble, Independent, Dependable, Hopeful, Self-starter
Negative traits: Tactless, Private, Unsociable, Reactive, Workaholic
History:
Joisann spent much of her childhood in a small cothold near Igen Hold. Her family mainly provided for themselves, which included hunting wild game in the woods for food. Because the girl did not feel squeamish about the skinning of animals and showed an interest in working with the treated hide, her parents tried their best to nurture her gift. Early on, her father, a man by the name of Amaeitt (ah may ett) taught her what he knew, but in the end, his level of teaching was not enough. Being loving parents, Amaeitt and Edenna (eh denn ah) presented the girl themselves to be apprenticed at the TannerCraftHall as soon as she was old enough.
She was nearly sixteen when a search dragon came for her. At first she refused to go, but with the encouragement and reasoning of her parents, realized that every Weyr can use a tanner. So she decided that even if she did not Impress, she could make a comfortable living there as a tanner. One of the first things she did after getting settled in was acquaint herself with the Weyr tanners and schedule work times with them that did not interfere with her duties as a Candidate.
While at the Weyr, she witnessed the plague from an outsider's point of view. For a long time, so it seemed, she lost hope in ever Impressing, or if she would she expected that her dragon would die. For her, the clutch at Igen was no different than any other, for these eggs had similar chances at survival. So she volunteered to be one of the Candidates to travel to Igen, where she came from, to the Touching. She believes that perhaps this is a sign of future success.
