so ive decided to try losing weight again, its just so difficult because i have hypothyroidism and a hormonal imbalance on top of having the endomorph body type. so i was wondering if we have any other fellow members struggling with weight loss and if they have share their tips or if anyone is a personal trainer and wants to give tips/advice it would be much appreciated.

I would like to have a personal trainer, that would be awesome. I have a friend who lost weight super quickly with the Keto diet and she goes to the gym. I lift weight so I build muscle and losing is not what I am after. I do know that with hypothyroidism you really calorie counting is not the way. And must exercise more then an hour a day. But it is good to aim for high-nutrient, anti-inflammatory meals composed of organic produce, healthy fats, high-quality animal protein, and some gluten-free grains
I'm not sure if you're still interested in trying to lose weight, but I am pretty much in the same boat as you. I was originally diagnosed with hypothyroidism, but it turns out I have sub-clinical hypothyroidism (the baby version). I also have a lot of hormonal imbalance issues due to being on the friggin depo shot for longer than I was supposed to. I have recently started trying to lose weight again. I've found that calorie counting is a really pain, but it helps a lot. I've also started doing about 60 crunches a day. I do them in reps of 20 at 3 different points in the day. I'm going to start doing planks and probably walking too. I just hate walking because the area I live in has a lot of steep hills -__-

I started my weight loss journey, August 1st. I'm following a Keto diet.
heartemotion_bigheart~so the beginning of 2019 i really tried losing weight and i just started running 4-5 times a week, avoiding junkfood and focusing on eating more veggies and better carbs. i lost about 30lbs by that summer and it was the best weight ive ever been at (150lbs)~ heartemotion_bigheart
heartemotion_bigheart~with that said, life happened, i got busier, my ankles started to struggle to keep up the running i was doing, and i ended up catching back up to 180lbs by spring 2020~ heartemotion_bigheart
heartemotion_bigheart~currently, i'm trying all the same stuff i did before but instead of running so much i'm choosing to heavily reduce my sugar intake. and i wont lie, i didn't really see progress until i thought hard and deep about... hmmm what am i doing differently? hmmm~ heartemotion_bigheart
heartemotion_bigheart~and then i forgot that i quit smoking in summer 2019. so i picked up smoking again like 3 weeks ago and now i've lost 4 lbs~ heartemotion_bigheart
This will be a long read but bear with me. It's worth it.
I just started losing weight again myself. I was 220 a month ago and I'm 5'2 so I'm pretty sure I'm considered morbidly obese. It's the most I've ever weighed in my life but my asthma makes it really difficult to exercise. I'm also part Asian so I grew up eating rice with practically every meal. I've lost 15 pounds so far though by eating less. Here's what I've been doing:
1) I limit how much carbs I'm eating. This is a basic one but I used to eat practically 2 cups of rice with each meal, now I try to limit myself just to half a cup to a cup at most for the day.
2) Limit/cut out snacking. I stopped buying chips completely so I don't have any temptation. I still crave it like crazy, especially at night before I go to bed but I try to fight through it although that may not work for everyone.
3) Don't deprive yourself of things you love otherwise once you're faced with the temptation of it, you're more likely to binge it. Just eat less of it. I allow myself a chocolate bar for the week so I break off little pieces.
4) Cut down on red meat. I think this is more of a health one bc too much red meat is definitely not good for you. I try to eat more chicken and eggs now. But I also don't deprive myself of the occasional steak once in awhile sweatdrop
5) Don't eat after 8pm. You want to allow your body time to digest your dinner. When you go to sleep, you're metabolism enters a resting state making digestion slow down significantly. Sumo wrestlers are known to sleep after a large meal to gain more weight. If you can, try to walk 15 minutes after eating a meal to help your body digest better.
6) Track what you're eating. Whether it's manually writing it down or downloading an app, keeping tabs on how much you're intaking is crucial to changing your lifestyle. If counting calories doesn't work for you, like it doesn't with me, sign up for weight watchers. It helps for sure bc it's not so much a diet but it's training yourself to a new lifestyle. I particularly get 25 points a day with an extra 35 points for the week to indulge/"cheat" for foods that cost extra points. Also there are certain food that are considered "free foods" which have no points. You can choose 2 options that won't add any points. My free foods are eggs and potatoes. but they also have avocado and beans and some other items to choose from. Vegetables and fruit are always free foods. If you'd like to try it, PM me and I can send you a referral and your first month will be free. But if you don't want to sign up for it, definitely keep a diary or download a calorie tracking app.
7) Weigh yourself at the same time every day. I recommend the morning after you use the restroom for the first time since you should have dinner from the night before digested and *ahem* emptied out *ahem*. That should give you a much more accurate idea of where you're at. I wouldn't weigh yourself multiple times a day because our bodies fluctuate throughout the whole day.
cool DON'T GET DISCOURGED AND TALK ABOUT YOUR WEIGHT LOSS ACCOMPLISHMENTS TO MOTIVATE YOURSELF! This is soooo important. Most people are able to initially lose a good amount of weight but then they reach a plateau where they're losing .2 or .3 at a time. That can definitely make it difficult but during this time, your body is typically losing inches around your belly, thighs, boobs, wherever your fat tends to build up. So when you plateau its actually a good thing. Also don't worry if you fall off the wagon here or there. It happens, just gotta get right back up and dust yourself off. smile
I'm on this journey with you so feel free to talk with me whenever biggrin We're on this weight loss journey together!

this helped my wife and i we are endomorphs to. so i agree with the keto heres more of what i did though. keto all the way. tho make sure to get proper electrolights as keto sometimes dosent have enough to keep u helthy. also make fod from scratch as there so much jusnk in it , i use to be aganst so many god fooda ansd taking so much time to cook. but its worth it plus premade food is filled with suger when many items dont need it. like bread for exampe most kinds of bread dont need suger. i know as i was diagnosed with prediabeties. so i had to cut suget and i cryed so hard every stoor trip i know one of the reasons why i couldent loose the weight. i have many conditons that stop weight loss and my wife hase thyroid oproblems. also get rid of soda get a soda streem but dont use there bottles. insted get urself a 20 pound co2 tank and a conectoer hose. they have off brand ones for doing this as th soda streem co2 bottles are way to pricy. make sure the tank is food grade u can get one at any welding stoor. u get them as rentials so the tank costs a bit the first time but i pay 20 a fill at the cheepest place in town. u just exchange the tank as long as theres no dammage. but point is keto is amazing, cut suger and processed foods. and yes easier said then done it takes time to get this in motion,. my body hates food not from scratch andi have lost about 80 pounds in the last 2 years as i cantr exercize much due to many of my conditions. the first 40 went fast after cutting suger. the rest hase taken time. and if u need a suger replacment try swerve, its everyone friendly and how i kicked the suger so i couldbeat prediabeties. is been a long journy so far if u need any more tips just ask and if u need repiy sujestions i have so many i can send u. form things i have tryed online.
Thank you everyone for your kind and helpful replies. This is long, so I'm putting it in a spoiler
A lot has happened in the two yrs since I posted. I was having tummy issues, ended up in the ER. Found out I have two more hernias {I thought I had one, have had them before}. Since Covid was still lurking surgery was put on hold as "elective". I was careful of how much I ate and the times I ate, to avoid discomfort. I made it through the holidays and into the new year. We had a bday party for my daughter, and I guess the foods and cake were just too much. I ended up back in the ER. More pics done. This time the larger of the two was blocked. Again they recommended surgery, but with my surgery history (8 in 23 yrs) they wanted me to see a hernia specialist. Fast forward I saw the specialist. He is willing to do the surgery, it will be my last hernia surgery. My insides are worn out. He would have to put mesh in between my muscle tissue, in front and behind. The only thing in the way, besides my age, is my weight. I need to lose almost 100 lbs. I had put on 63 during Covid. This doc wants me to have the sleeve done. As much as I like the idea of quick weight loss, and I know two people who have had it done, I'm not ready to cut away part of a major organ. So back to my reg doc. I bought a program called "Speed Keto" took it to my doc, she liked it. She put me on a low dose of Metformin, in hope of kick starting weight loss. So since April (my last ER visit} I've been doing the keto again and walking the dog. I'm down 30 lbs. Fasting which is part of the "Speed Keto" program, is difficult since I need to eat with the Metformin. I can only do a 24 hour fast. But at least I can get some fasting in. I go back to my doc in Sept for blood work and a check in to see how I'm doing. I'll let you know. P.S. I'm still waiting to hear from the sleeve doc. However, with Covid still lurking and now Monkey Pox, who knows when I'll hear from them. Maybe with luck and grit, I'll lose the weight before I ever hear from them.
