Hi! So happy someone's started making use of this forum! I'm not good at drawing figures myself yet, but my eye picks up on mistakes and nuances and such, and I've researched a bit on how studying the figure works. So I hope my critique is useful to you!

However, the link you gave doesn't work. User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

I'll work on some challenges and things that we can do together that will boost our progress!

Your best work in this folder so far with regards to the gesture (the flow/feel of the drawing):

The rest of the figures are stiff and too skinny and have a sticky feel to them.

This might help going forward:
Gesture drawing tutorial
And daily gesture drawings (don't finish/render them, just get the forms down as explained in the video series linked above) using this site.

Try two weeks of doing them religiously every day, then do a finished piece again and see how far you've come.

That's what I would do.

Also note body proportions with regards to the head. Your heads tend to be a bit too big for the bodies they're placed on - something everyone struggles with at some point. It helps to know how the head fits into the rest of the body and become a means of measuring the lengths of the arms, torso, etc.

Also, this might help you create heads that are more proportional within themselves. You don't need to buy the course, just look and copy the pictures they have in the article. I have the Loomis books as pdfs, so if you give me your email I can send them to you via Google Drive.

Hope this helps! If you have any questions/points of view/etc, please don't hesitate. I hope more people will comment here too.

amazing observations, you found just about everything iv been working on for quite some time, i would like to point out that u un knowingly picked my more recent work as the improved pictures i wanted a critque on my lattest work, but im having troble uploading at this time.

1. yes i have always had a hard time with proportions even though i draw like that already, from time to time i tend to still draw like im printing even though im used to sketch drawing. in other words is hard habit to break even when uv been to art school. I call it my project for going back to the basics, and yes practice practice, practice, iv been in a art block lately for quite some time, but it feels good to be drawing again.

2. i would of added at least 2 more to the list, you listed, there not nude, there clothed but over all i feel they belong to my best of work collection ill post them down here
1.drawing 1

( although i can see what you mean about my figures being to thin, ill try to pay attention to that in the future)

2. drawing 2

i posted this one becouse it represent style choice, again i can see she's probably to thin, thanks for that very helpful observation.

here are two more n***s that i feel would go in my best collection.
1. this was an old drawing, but to this day still ranks with my top 10 drawings

nude 1

2.nude 2

this is actually a painting, but is a personal favorite and is has better proportions and just about every thing you mentioned. Also note that drawing from live models helps me, my figures tend to get distorted when i used a photo. Im glade im still learning and i have more to learn, what would u say over all and do you like my work?

You've been to art school? Oh, please please share what you've learned? I wish I could go, but it's so expensive. User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

I'm also struggling with a bit of art block, but really I'm so obsessed that I can't think of anything else even when I'm not drawing. Today I saw the cutest children at work and I so wish I could draw their hair from life! It was so perfect and looked so soft and floofy. Speaking of art block, I'll make a thread for discussions around it - along with strategies and things to more past art block. I hope you'll share your experiences with us.

For some reason your links won't work. So I went through your whole gallery again just to see if I missed something.

Please remember that I'm comparing you to where I want to be with regards to anatomy: think Michelangelo - the masters. And from that comparison, I'm reverse-engineering the next steps that you might consider taking.

There's the issue of style. A lot of contemporary artists have this broken-anatomy kind of style. So it really depends on what YOU are aiming for. Keep in mind that we will also have a better grasp on creating art that just clicks and works well once we've mastered the basics like proper anatomy. Even comic artists become really good at more traditional/realistic anatomy before they start stylising.

That's interesting how drawing from life is easier for you than drawing from photos!

As for my personal opinion... I think you have it in you to do a lot better. User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. And yes, that is my challenge to you! Other than that, my opinion doesn't matter.

I wouldn't get too attached to my drawings, though. Once you're done with one, I'd put it aside and say "Okay, onto the next one." Because building our art skills is building muscle memory and training our eyes. We've already improved since our last work. That is, of course, if we study deliberately. Volume over perfection.

Posting pictures:
With photobucket it's easy - they give you an IMG link that you copy and paste into your gaia post (and then put a spoiler around it). With Deviant Art... I'm not sure, but it's supposed to let you in on the post with the image, then you copy the URL that appears at the top of your browser, then post that as a link using the URL button. That's how it's supposed to work. If you're already doing that and it's not working, then just gather all the work you want to have looked at in a specific folder labelled accordingly. That's the only other solution I can think of right now.

I'm going to start on a portrait curriculum, complete with assignments. You're welcome to join me there. It will be in the classical atelier style of studying portraiture.
