The Warriors of Chaos, also known as the Hordes of Chaos, the Followers of Chaos,Chaos Undivided or simply just The Slaves to Darkness, are the names given to a race of savage, warlike tribes of Human Barbarians that occupy the most harsh and unforgiving lands of the the Realm of Chaos and often the Mortal Realms themselves[1h][6b] To all those that faced them, these barbarians are considered by all to be the enemies of all the mortal realms, whose unwavering worship to an uncaring and sadistic pantheon of ancient and evil Gods has given them a single driving motive to usher in the inevitable downfall of all mortal-kind into their hellish enslavement.
Out of all the many threats that the Mortal Realms must face, none strikes such fear and misery into the hearts of Men like the Followers of Chaos. Slaves to darkness all, they have given themselves wholly to the Ruinous Powers, some willingly, others because they felt they had no other choice. Chaos itself is a corrupting influence upon the world, like a dark, malign cancer that eats at the minds of all those that live within the World. No single race, no matter how noble or powerful, will ever be safe from their barbaric invasions, nor are they safe from the seductive whispers of the Dark Gods. However, out of all the mortal races that Chaos has corrupted over the millennia , perhaps the greatest and most numerous of their followers are those of Mankind.
The race of Mankind is a paradox upon the mortal realms, for although they are considered many of the realms' greatest defenders against the darkness that is Chaos, they are nevertheless also one of Chaos's greatest and most numerous servants. The corruption of Chaos runs deep within the blood of Men, and its influence upon Human history has literally shaped the founding of entire kingdoms and nation states. From their strongholds across the realms and the Realm of Chaos itself, armies of the Dark Gods would attack the eight realms time and again, slaughtering without reason, pillaging that which is not nailed down, and just simply wrecking wanton destruction to the nations of the realms. No matter how many of these marauders are killed, no matter how many invasions are pushed back and enemy armies annihilated, the Hordes of Chaos can never truly be defeated, and after a few years of relative peace, they shall once more come down south and begin the vicious cycle once again. So long as there is still Chaos within this world, there will also be those evil and greedy men that are wholly willing to serve them.

Chaos Knights Chaos Knights are feared throughout the realms and beyond as merciless butchers capable of turning the course of battle with a single thunderous charge. They ride unto battle atop immensely powerful Chaos Steeds, with both rider and mount clad in thick Chaos Armor, each section of armour having been crafted by a Chaos Dwarf master daemonsmith. A Chaos Knight’s greaves are jagged blades, well suited for slicing through the flesh of the enemy. Even the frightful reputation of the Chaos Knights is a weapon in its own right, crippling those who would stand against them before a single blow is struck. Many Chaos Knights ride to war with great lances, cavalry swords, or evil-looking polearms designed to impale and tear through enemy armor and flesh in equal measure. Others wield a deadly assortment of weapons, from cleavers and war-picks to heavy maces. Some Chaos Knights even brandish magical blades, each bearing a small measure of power. Regardless of the form or the hexes inscribed upon these magical weapons, they are all enchanted in order to kill, and most flicker with dark fire. Chaos Knights are a highly egotistical group of warriors. Most if not all consider themselves superior even to other Champions of Chaos. They bow to none save perhaps a Chaos Lord or an exalted Daemon Prince, and even then they will not dip their banner, for their collective pride is the equal of their martial prowess. Each Chaos Knight is a paragon amongst his warrior brethren, for he has trod the path of damnation for many years and now holds the favor of the Dark Gods far more then the common ranks of Chaos Warriors. Few are left unmarked by the stigma of mutation after becoming a Chaos Knight. A Knight’s horned helmet may conceal a twisted and permanent rictus smile of sharp metallic fangs, or a striking and cold beauty that steals the breath away. In battle, a full squadron of Chaos Knights, galloping at full-speed, will hit a battle line like the mailed fist of the gods. Few mortal soldiers can truly survive a charge from a Chaos Knight and not be left scarred by the encounter. The greatest band of Chaos Knights were the Swords of Chaos, legendary veterans who served as the Everchosen's bodyguard.

The Chosen Chaos Chosen are those blessed few amongst the ranks of the Chaos Warriors who bear the favor of the Dark Gods far more than their fellows but have not yet become strong enough to take on the mantle of a Chaos Champion. Known amongst their kind as Chosen, these warriors are bestowed with a variety of weapons, armor and gifts as a reward for their faithful service to Chaos, often acting as an elite bodyguard to a Chaos Lord. These gifts can vary greatly, but most mutations tend to be useful as weapons that aid the Chosen in his quest to inflict devastation and misery upon his enemies. Even if a Chosen warrior bears no such stigmata, it is clear that he carries the grace of the Dark Gods simply from his aura of dark menace. Amongst the ranks of Chaos Warriors, the Chosen are truly the nobility of Chaos. Chaos Chosen will always lead by example, fighting not as commanders but as elite warriors. In this way, the Chosen hope to attract yet more of their master’s favour and ascend to the ranks of the truly exalted. They advance unflinchingly through black-powder firestorms, hails of arrows and punishing artillery, their purposeful tread never falters as they march ever closer to their prey. Battle lines have buckled and broken at the mere prospect of a warband of Chosen closing in upon them, blades raised so that the methodical butchery of the foe can begin. Few can stand against the full onslaught of a Chaos Warrior, even fewer can stand against the savagery of a single Chaos Chosen in combat.

Aspiring Champions Aspiring Champions are often the best any Chaos Warrior can hope to achieve, since most rarely progress further than this high position. The reason is simple. Chaos Champions eliminate anyone they see as a rival, butchering their underlings to ensure their continued place at the head of their armies. As a result, many Aspiring Champions leave the service of a Chaos Champion to create their own warband. Unfortunately, Aspiring Champions can only recall the most pertinent details of their past, and many assume new identities to replace those lost to them. The harsh realms of chaos spawns some of the hardiest warriors in all the world. Each is a paragon of deadly ability and lethal intent. Some ascend to command entire nations, some pursue the esoteric paths of the arcane, but the majority dedicate themselves to little more than the brutal butchery of all who stand in their way. These ruthless killers are known as Exalted Heroes. The history of many Exalted Heroes, recorded in scattered chronicles by the free people of the mortal realms, is a catalogue of woes and evil deeds. Their infamy shines bright as they capture the notice of the Dark Gods of Chaos with ever-greater feats of slaughter. They frequently seek out others of their kind to engage in ritual combat. When two Champions of Chaos clash, they duel to the death in the manner of gladiators, using the full force of every weapon at their disposal. When a victor emerges, bloodied but triumphant, he will cut a grisly trophy from his foe, claiming both his vanquished enemy's weapons and followers as his own. If the triumphant Champion has truly excelled, he may even succeed in attracting the attention of the Dark Gods and, in doing so, receive a more permanent reward for his deeds in the form of a mutation of daemonic gift. With each victory, the Champion grows ever closer to becoming a Chaos Lord, with whole armies to command and daemonhood within his reach.

Chaos Champion Chaos Champions, also known as "Exalted Heroes" are paragons of deadly ability and lethal intent, risen from the rank of Aspiring Champion. Some ascend to command entire nations, some pursue the esoteric paths of the arcane, but the majority dedicate themselves to little more than the brutal butchery of all who stand in their path. The history of many Chaos Champions, recorded in scattered chronicles by the free people of the Old World , is a catalogue of woes and evil deeds. Their infamy shines bright as they capture the notice of the Dark Gods of Chaos with ever greater feats of slaughter. A Chaos Champion striding to war in full battle armor is a sight that strikes fear into the hearts of all Man. A single Champion of Chaos is the equal of a score of lesser men upon the battlefield. As with all those that dedicates themselves to Chaos, they have been blessed by many gifts that grant him the means to bring about destruction in his wake. Chaos Champions frequently seek out others of their kind to engage in ritual combat. When two of these Champions of Chaos clash, they duel to the death in the manner of gladiators, using the full force of every weapon at their disposal. When a victor emerges, bloodied but triumphant, he will cut a grisly trophy from his foe, claiming both his vanquished enemy’s weapons and followers as his own. If the triumphant champion has truly excelled, he may even succeed in attracting the attention of the Dark Gods and, in doing so, receive a more permanent reward for his deeds in the form of a mutation or daemonic gift. With each victory, the champion grows ever closer to becoming a Chaos Lord, with whole armies to command and daemonhood within his reach. Champions of the Gods Some Chaos Champions choose to pledge themselves to single Chaos God. Forgoing blessings of all four, they instead receive a single mighty gift in exchange. Champion of Nurgle - Disease and death are sacred to Nurgle and the Champion of Nurgle embodies all of these. These warriors are swollen and bloated, often little more than moving sacks of pus and infectious diseases. Whilst slow their bodies have been dulled to pain and as such can endure immense amounts of damage before they die. Many can even regenerate their wounds. Champion of Khorne - The most bloodthirsty and savage fighters of chaos, Champions of Khorne lust after the spilling of blood and the roar of battle to satisfy the desires of the Blood God. They are often blessed with strength and bloodlust beyond any normal human and are masters of brutal melee combat. Champion of Slaanesh - . The senses of Slaaneshi Champions are often greatly increased and their minds are so fast to react that they fight in a blur which many enemies struggle to even see, let alone defend against. Slaaneshi Champions are often the greatest among swordsmen in the Mortal Realms Champion of Tzeentch - Highly powerful sorcerer-warriors. The power Tzeentch grants his Champions allows them to become true masters of magic, which mixed with their skill in combat, makes them truly powerful foes. Not to be confused with Tzeentchian Sorcerer Lords, who are purely wizards.

Chaos Lords A Chaos Lord, is a legendary engine of destruction, warriors whom have earned through blood and carnage the greatest favor amongst the Slaves to Darkness, whose deeds have destroyed armies at a whim and whose skills at arms have decapitated rival Chaos Champions in the dozens. To be a Chaos Lord means to command the utmost power amongst the tribes of the Chaos Hordes, and with such power and favor within their grasp, these Lords of Chaos would lead the armies of the Dark Gods into their horrific crusades against the Mortal Realms Of all the mortal warriors across the civilisations of the realms, Chaos Lords are the most feared, for they are truly like gods amongst men. Clad in baroque armour and rich furs, they tower above any other rival Champion of Chaos. A Chaos Lord’s indomitable will is forged in the fires of war, his skills are tempered and honed in the crucible of battle, and his blade is eternally quenched in blood. Each Chaos Lord has travelled a long and perilous road to pre-eminence, a road paved with the broken corpses of less successful aspirants. Regardless of their individual abilities, they are without exception unstoppably powerful warriors, combining the strength of a Troll with the speed of a striking snake. The Lord’s abilities are enhanced further by gifts from his patrons. Seeking ever more glory in the eyes of his deities, a Chaos Lord will test his mettle against the most accomplished of his foes’ warriors, his forbidding challenge echoing across the field. Those brave enough to meet his summons are briefly saluted before being hacked to pieces where they stand, for to stand against a Chaos Lord is to invite a sudden and brutal death. A Chaos Lord is not only an exceptional fighter but also a merciless conqueror. A great leader and strategist, his sheer force of will binds legions of men and monsters alike to his service. Each Chaos Lord’s name is spoken in hushed whispers across the realms, his violent deeds written in the blood of his enemies. His is the voice that condemns whole tribes and nations to death. His gaze terrorizes his followers into submission and grovelling obedience. An aura of power surrounds each Chaos Lord, drawing ever more devotees to his banner as his legend grows. When a Lord of Chaos marches to war, the world shakes, for in their hearts, all fear that one day a Lord will come who will grind the armies of the world under his heel, and bring about an age of darkness that will never end.
