gods

Gods are obvious. Mostly. They are not all-knowing, or even all-powerful. There are some gods with better powers than others, I mean... If you're god of time, you pretty much have it made. Anyhow, Gods live forever, and are essentially the highest forms of life. They don't typically marry each other, let alone others. It's pretty much a forever thing. (I'm convinced it should be forever. They take it very seriously.)

demigods

These are the b*****d halflings. Gods ******** humans. Babies happen. They have the forever lifespan, and powers at a lower effect. If daddy can control time, and mommy is a mortal, baby can read a clock. I'm kidding. Baby can probably freeze time, but not go forward or backward. Feel me?

angels

Okay, I mean, I feel like we DO have sections here: archangels, death angels, cupids and s**t, but essentially, angels in my mind were originally mortals. Gods are high society pieces of s**t, and probably make bets on humans souls, hence why we have guardian angels, trying to get those tempted souls to not sin so damn much, and demons who leave their tomes around like they own the place. So if a human is good, they become an angel, if they are bad/average, they get to cycle again and again. If a mortal is Hitler, they're probably actually a demon. Just saying.

demons

Playing of angels, demons were originally human, too. Demons leave tomes around to convert humans, such as Narco, into getting everything they desire in exchange for turning over more souls. For a very long time, until Axel and Loic, actually, it was COMPLETELY not okay for demons and angels to bang, because then they're not really doing their jobs. And if demons are banging, they can have demon babies, thus making the demon group stronger, same with angels, so... Don't like them to mix.

mortals

These are the absolute shittiest groups of things ever. They live horribly, they die. They either become a demon, an angel, or they regen until they become a ******** star. Unless they are lucky enough to be Djari and marry a ******** god (eventually maybe).

pieces

I don't really feel like I can touch on this. I don't know it as well as you do.
They're mortal, but with qualities of a god. Not demi-god, but...blesed. Like they're faithful, but aren't ready to play angel or demon yet. So they are blessed to be an undercover agent for whatever side they're on. Such is the case for mortal Narco and his brother Llewellyn, and Vell. I think.

gods

It is forever. That's why so few are married because once it's done it is done. Relationships are fleeting just like years for them. There wasn't supposed to be a hierarchy of Gods, not at the start but old Rayne kinda said '******** that' to the natural law and put himself in charge. Which makes me feel that his downfall was just a matter of when and not if. They are gods but the world does not just yield to their will. The world is older than them, the end and the start and while it may not be a god like the others, it is something. It is alive.

Yeah, it was just some blank canvas when it began but even Gods need a starting place.

demigods

That title is just specific to those born of at least one God parent. So kids like Cora and Aurienne and Atlas and Ceto and Aymeric are all demis.

angels/demons

Angels and Demons are pretty much what they have been since we started. They're not likely to change. Although, it's still not a thing that angels and demons mix. Axel and Loic are mostly on their own in those regards.

mortals

Mortals are mortals are mortals. They're the play things of Gods, the pawns in the ever ongoing struggle between angels and demons. (I can't really call it a war anymore, it's just an continual thing that helps keep the balance. Sometimes it leans more to one side or the other.)

pieces

They are absolutely not demi-gods. Unfortunately this is a very gray kind of area, especially after Kara broke a few Gods. Back before the original Ieo's death, the Pieces were very much something like her. They were the devout to one God and willingly gave themselves up as disciples. Formally or informally. Some were blessed by the very Gods that they claimed to serve under, but that wasn't a common occurrence. They are still mortals in the sense that they continue the cycle of life and death but they are blessed. Given some watered down abilities of the one they are devoted to.

Then Kara went and broke the world.

Pieces now are still those like above and they are very much like mortal Narco and Ellyn. The blessings are passed along the bloodline but they have to be worked at, made stronger to be of any use down the line. Nicias is in this, too.

Vell.

He's less a gray area and more of a something that went off the map ages ago and is now somewhere deep in uncharted waters.

The giant. That's where this starts. The Giant God that walked the earth, that helped form the lands and the oceans, that carved out the rivers and coaxed trees into reaching for the sky. While other Gods played with the mortals in some endless chess game, he walked. There is not a place on the world that he did not see. When Kara broke the Gods, she had to put more effort into shattering him. He didn't end up as some fragment like the others. He fell into three.

Those three are not Gods and it is less something blessed and more something cursed. The first is the heart. It's not a person, not proper. From it bloomed the red tree. It has ties to all that the Giant created long ago, to the world it helped shape. That is where a lot of the powers went for it. Back to the world.

The next two. It's easier to describe it like this: The Dream and The Nightmare. They're the caretakers, the physical manifestations of the heart to continue tending to the world as it grew. For all accounts and purposes, they can be called mortal.

The Dream: Kaz and Ithica

They are the actual caretakers. Kaz comes and goes from life, he's the more mortal of the two so he experiences the cycles of rebirth. Ithica is his guiding light back each time. They typically don't interact with other mortal beings or other lifeforms in general. They follow along the path that the Giant first walked. Gotta make sure things are still going along as they should.

The Nightmare: Vellum

He's the soul which is why part of him ended up still floating around in the void and why Naza is all up in his business. Got the soul of a god but has been subjected to the mortal cycle. Nightmare is pretty much as it sounds. Vellum as himself is mortal and he's subject to developing his own abilities. Marrying Naza and getting the other bits of his soul back eventually makes him effectively a demi-god.
