Who has made a costume (or costumes) for a character in the Lord of the Rings? If you have, did you make a movie based replica or an original interpretation based on the book and how you saw the character dressed?

I made a costume for my son so he could be Frodo (he looked adorable!) He even had the one ring and Sting.

My nephew wanted me to make a Legolas costume for him for the ROTK premiere (and told me about it the night before). I turned an old brown velvet suit that my Mom had into a cool (interpretation) costume. He wore a blond wig and carried my Legolas bow and quiver of arrows.

I made a costume for myself for each of the movie premiere parties at my local theater. I was an elf the first year (my interpretation), a hobbit lass the 2nd year (also my interpretation), and for ROTK I was a dwarf woman (I knocked 'em dead and won 1st prize for originality!)

I found this great website that has special effects contacts like they use in the movies. They have one called "Legola" that looks like the ones that Orlando Bloom wore in the movie for his "elf eyes". They are a very cool looking blue with the dark ring around the edge and a slightly bigger pupil. The website is http://www.9mmsfx.com/lenses.html

I bought some contacts that change my blue eyes to look like they have a dark ring around the edge of the iris, but I could never get my pupils to stay big like they looked in the movie (duh, unless I took some drugs). It was the closest I could get to a copy of "elf eyes".

I just went to a friend's birthday party last weekend that was a costume party (we all look for excuses's to pretend to be someone or something else) and he had a prize for the best costume. I wore my elven archer costume (a dress and cloak I made from a store-bought pattern) and I won first prize! I will try to put a copy of the picture on here as soon as I can get the time.

I would love to be able to make a costume, someday I think I will, once I get better on a sewing maching--I'm still learning how at the moment--but I don't know what I'd do. I'd probably want to make an elven costume.

I know I've already said this, but man I want an Arwen costume.. actually any elven costume would be pretty great to own, the ears are going to be the problem though

haha a Dwarf woman that sounds really cool, do you have any pictures of you guys in costume, that would be really neat to see, if not thats cool too xd I never dressed up for the movie's but I know alot of people did. I did go out as a random elf for a Halloween party though wink .

I just made an Arwen gown for my friend's costume movie themed birthday party. It's the one she wears in the extended TTT movie. It's known more widely as the White WETA gown. She wears it in statue and I thought it was really nice. But I dyed my hair and I thought it turned out really pretty. I even have an evenstar necklace!! I love Arwen; I think she is so pretty even though she doesn't really have a big role but I mean, come on, she gets Aragorn! lol. mrgreen heart
