Firelizard Colours
Green 90% of green firelizards are between 20 and 23 inches in length
Greens are the smallest firelizards, but also the smallest of any dragonkin. Like other greens they are the most numerous, with almost half of firelizards being green. They are often the fastest in their fairs, but due to the small size difference, this isn’t by an especially large margin.
Blue90% of blue firelizards are between 21 and 24 inches in length
Behind greens, blues are the most common firelizard, making up a third of firelizards clutched. They are very similar to greens in terms of speed and stamina, although they tend to be more prone to thicker builds than greens. A blue firelizard has a poor chance of keeping up with a gold, her stamina far outmatching his, but his fair leader may choose him if suitors are few or of poor quality.
Brown90% of brown firelizards are between 25 and 28 inches in length
Brown firelizards tend to make up the strength of a fair. Around one in seven firelizards are brown, meaning that most fairs will have one, if not two or three. They are often the muscle when a fair hunts together and the most likely to take on threats away from the nest. With firelizards it is fairly common for browns to succeed in gold flights. The minimal size and strength difference allowing them to compete with any bronzes in the fair.
Bronze90% of bronze firelizards are between 27 and 29 inches
The largest of the males, it is not uncommon for bronzes to dominate other members by brute strength. Bronzes are proportionally more muscular than their smaller brothers, usually sacrificing their manoeuvrability for this strength. One in twenty firelizards hatched are bronze. In fairs that have a bronze they are usually the most promising candidate in a gold flight, however because of their rarity, many fairs don’t have one.
Gold90% of gold firelizards are between 29 and 30 inches
The largest of the firelizard colours and the leader of fairs. Gold firelizards are not as scarce as gold in other dragonkin. Instead they are tied with bronze, numbering one in twenty. Gold firelizards establish fairs with their clutchmates, as well as any stray firelizards they may find along the way. She decides where the fair go and what they do. She is usually the strongest of her fair, using her strength to ensure the obedience of her fair.
WhiteThere are no white firelizards. Eggs given assistance often hatch small, but fully coloured firelizards. Eggs that were broken and found to have white hatchlings inside have yet to break one that was still alive at this stage.
