Going out at night was settling into a routine. Well. As much as a routine as it could. Between the Nega-Life lessons she was getting from Pyrophanite and Machine, she was learning that there wasn’t so much a routine...just stuff you did when you felt like it, and quotas to fill. She was definitely feeling more confident, to say the least. Secure in what she was doing. It was becoming second nature.
For the most part.
She had collected some starseeds earlier from some thugs, and was now taking a bit of a break. The corrupt eternal was perched on the corner edge a building roof top, legs crossed and dangling over the side. The weather was starting to get warmer, and there was a nice breeze which pushed around the shorter strands of her hair.
----------------------
Beringia actually had a plan this time, especially when he saw the corrupt doing her thing.
His plan.
His plan.
“Still.” He jumped from one building to another. “Are ready to see some truth today?”
---------------------
She felt a power signature heading straight for her, and Still had to wonder. She didn’t wonder for too long though, as the Russian squire appeared once more, and she stared at him, a brow raised. Here to try again doing…whatever it is, huh?
“Brr.” She greeted, leaning to rest her elbow on her knee and her chin in her hand as she watched him. “Did it occur to you that maybe I know the truth, and it’s you who needs to see it, hm?”
---------------------
“Nope.” He sat next to her, crossing his arms over chest. “I have truth and you have lies.” He looked at her.
“Do you know name Olga?”
--------------------
“That’s awfully presumptuous of you.” She remarked, finding it amusing he just took a seat right next to her. Still tilted her head as she watched him, noting the more collected approach he had this time around. The thought he was planning this was both entertaining yet alarming.
“Of course I know that name.” The senshi replied casually. “There’s quite a few people named that in the city, especially if you look in the phone book.”
But that name was also on the driver license in the wallet she found on her person after she woke up in the Stables.
-----------------------
“Does not ring bells to you? Does not mean anything to you?”
He went for broke with this one.
“Do you remember...ah...Justin. Highlander.” Nailed it.
-----------------------
A corner of Still’s lips pulled up in a half smirk as she looked at him, and she slowly shook her head. “Not really, no.” A Justin? Highlander? Actually, something kind of nagged about that, but like with a lot of times when this feeling popped up, she ignored it. It never lead anywhere. She never figured anything out. She never got to a satisfactory conclusion chasing fleeting thoughts and feelings, so she didn’t bother.
“Beringia.” She started. “Your effort is admirable, but let me ask you something. You’re trying hard to bring back something that’s just not there anymore.” Still straightened and shifted, leaning back to rest on one arm while the other rested on her knee. “Did it ever occur to you that it needed to change? That whatever or whoever it was before just wasn’t working? It was broke, and it got fixed. Why change it back?” She smiled as she waited for a reply.
------------------------
Beringia couldn’t really argue with that logic and something wanted him too. How often had he thought there was something wrong with Olga...and by extension, the power she had as Sedna. She had been reckless, careless, Naive, even a bit dense. She had annoyed him, to the point that he avoided powering up.
Now look at him, powering up, fighting, gathering his ring only to be led to Still who….who was so calm. Composed in the face of what was happening. She didn’t know better, he told himself, but the guilty part of him thought that was good too. He didn’t want to admit that he had thought the same of what was happening. Admitting to it, meant that he was basically admitting to being okay with Sedna...in default, practically being killed off.
He was quiet deep in thought to answer her and answered her honestly.
“Did not like Sedna. Too much for me. Does not mean my opinion should matter.” He looked over at her, “Sedna had some friends, people who cared for her. Are they deserving to be broken as vell?”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He was quiet and contemplative, and she in turn was the same as well. Except she wasn’t thinking about an answer, she was simply studying him. His face, his posture. The way he held himself. It was sort of unfair. Obviously he had a connection to her...prior. She couldn’t remember a lick of it. Not a moment. Not a memory, but she felt something for him. Fond. Happy. Genuinely interested. Thinking he was going to magnetize her to another surface was somewhat off putting, but all that aside...she was happy to see him. To be around him.
She really liked this time with him, right now, and she wondered if it could keep happening.
Stillwaterite stopped her musings as he spoke, and her gaze sharpened as she focused back on his face and words. “Loss is simply a part of life.” She replied. “It just happens, and the best anyone can do is deal with it and move on. The milk is spilled, and quite frankly I don’t see anyone else stepping forward but you.” She looked away from him, out over the city below.
“How lucky your sister is, to have a brother who goes to such lengths chasing a ghost of someone he didn’t like.”
--------------------------
Beringia was a range of emotions, swirling inside of. Yes, he was doing this for Nadia, and his own guilt. It seemed useless to lie to Stillwaterite about his feelings. Part of him regretted though at her statement.
“She vould not think so.” He sighed, “You are not dead, thus you are not lost. You are just different. Ve...I cannot accept that, that is burden to bear. Vill not stop me from attempting to svay you.” He waited another second.
“Vhat do then? Vhat is goal for negaverse life? Vill you kill now?” He looked at her, “Vill I have to fight you to stop this?
