Magic, as it is most commonly known, is in abundance in the world of Sende. It has been the source of power in every living being for as long as anyone can remember. Rumors say that there was a time when there was no magic in Sende, but those are merely stories and myths of long forgotten pasts. For any race in any kingdom Magic can be used as easily as one can breath. As long as a person has his or her grimoire and their imagination. As far as history records show there has never been a limit to what kind of magic a person can use. Some Merfolk have been known to masters in fire or lightning spells as well as Vampires perfectly using light magic. As long as the caster can figure out a safe way to manifest this magic it can be done.

xxxx▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄
Grimoires can be anything that has value to the caster. This can be both sentimental value or monetary value. Some historians can only figure the later one is simply because monetary value can be viewed as the same thing as sentimental value to some people. Regardless of the value, the item itself is important as well. As long as it can be painted, stitched, carved, etched, or by some other means written by hand upon it can be considered a grimoire. The most common grimoires are items such as wands and books, but there are cases of everything from a blacksmiths anvil to a hunter's cloak as being a grimoire.
While there are little to no limits to using grimoires there is one thing that can stand in someone's way. A grimoire can not be used by anyone other than the one who created it. For example: Magic User A cannot use Magic User B's wand. If he attempted this it would literally backfire in his face. To force a grimoire into usage is to break it. Most grimoires break after three attempts. Unless a grimoire is properly handed over to another person it is basically a paperweight. This can mean a grimoire can have more than one owner, but this is rare and mostly only seen when someone has a special relationship with another. Special cases include married couples, teacher and student, parent and child, siblings, etc.

The words written on the grimoire are the action to which the magic is used. For example; If Magic User A simply shouted "Fireball" he would only produce a small flame capable of lightning a match and more likely burn himself. However, if Magic User B used her Grimoire in this case a wand, reading aloud, "Fireball" a proper ball of fire would come from the grimoire. The grimoire itself can be anything that has value to the caster and can be written upon in some fashion. The only limits that a caster can find himself facing are how many words are on his grimoire. A wand can only have so many words carved on it after all. As for the magic itself, as stated before all kinds of magic have been documented in every race. There has never been a case of someone not having magic. Not to say it can't happen however.
