If you mean book set in the Anglo-Saxon period, there is always Beowulf smile and Grendal.
Or do you mean medieval times? In which case--what type of book are you looking for? Mystery? Horror? Romance?
Or are you after Renaissance books?

I'm afraid I read quite a few romance novels redface but if you're looking for old England as in, 1810-ish, Meg Cabot wrote two: Victoria and the Rogue and Nicola and the Viscount. (But I shold warn you that the plot lines of both are almost identical. They might as well be the same book.) And of course Jane Austen; If you can handle the language.

Well, there is Timeline by Micheal Critchen. It is about a time mechine, and most of it is set in medieval times.

I suggest The Midwife's Apprentice by Karen Cushman. I don't remember exactly, its been a while, but it was the first that came to mind for a book based in medieval times.

I highly recommend Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility if that's the kind of books your looking for. Higher reading level but extremely entertaining.

Gillian Bradshaw writes some excellent novels set many many centuries in the past. I'd recommend her.

Oooooh - yeah, but the letters are normally rather long, so it's more like reading chapters written in first person. A very very good read.
