┏Murdoch hadn't always been the man time and ill influence molded him into. In the earlier stages of his life, he'd been anything but, if not the exact opposite. Born and raised in a small shack near Karthwasten in Skyrim, Murdoch's earliest memories were comprised of tending to his enfeebled mother. From a very young age, Murdoch was left fending for both himself and his mother after his Forsworn father had left due to her bedridden state. The two lived cold and impoverish lives within their small, ramshackle cabin, with Murdoch working a variety of odd jobs for locals in exchange for any sort of help they could get. Suffice to say, Murdoch and his mother could never afford much, namely the adequate care she so desperately needed. The disease continued to ravage the Reachman woman's health over the years—a disease that was too expensive for her to receive. After years and years of slowly watching his mother deteriorate, she finally passed away. In a whir of emotions, there was a part of Murdoch that sighed with somber relief; her suffering was at its end and there was only one other thing he thought he could devote his life to. With very few coin to his name, he traveled across the tundras of Skyrim, headed northward to the College of Winterhold. Though lacking in most fundamental education, Murdoch revealed quite the dedication to alchemy and went on to study it meticulously over the next few years. He eventually set his interests on the more obscure or hard to treat diseases, determined to create affordable treatments available to all. Though, the farther he delved into the study of these diseases, the more interest he gained on the state of illness itself. Better yet, the root of it all...
... and went a little too far.
Murdoch began to withdraw and behave secretively, marked only by claims of finding something "greater" than he anticipated. Fellow students also took note of Murdoch's increasingly heavy use of test skeevers. When confronted, he would only respond with excited, yet shady retorts of "you'll see!" This carried on for a few months before a number of students and faculty began to experience flu-like symptoms; nothing much was thought of it at first, until those infected's conditions only grew worse and worse. There were even a few whose lives were claimed by the hand of disease as Murdoch only watched with smug fascination from afar. On account of his suspicious activity months prior, Murdoch quickly became a primary suspect for the sudden outbreak in Winterhold, while others would claim it was merely a pandemic, albeit an unfortunate one. Evidence suggested it was more than an outbreak; cryptic notes were found stowed away in Murdoch's quarters, tucked away in the various drawers and cabinets, while an abundance of infected skeevers were found in the midden, all of which experienced later stages of the pandemic. The notes in question seemed to heavily imply some sort of contact between him and a Daedric being. With Murdoch being unable to write well, many of the recovered notes were filled with doodles illustrating his findings; one drawing heavily featured was of a serpentine, dragon-like being. Older notes, ones thought to be dated before his sudden change in behavior, described an interest in the state of illness itself and its connection to the Daedric Prince Peryite. Though, his intentions still remained as they had when he first began: innocent and well-meaning, but the more he appeared to press into the matter, the more his ideals began to change. He illustrated his contact with the being—it came to him in the form of a specter of rats and offered an answer to all his questions. It was after that particular log that his priorities shifted.
After all the collected evidence and reports, Murdoch was declared guilty of murder, biological warfare, and daedra worship, and was sentenced to death. He made no claims to innocence, and said nothing when questioned, but only stared with a sort of giddy anticipation. Along the days leading up to his trial, Murdoch's appearance began to subtly change; his skin took on a splotchy, reddish tint, and his body seemed to rapidly drop in weight. It wasn't until about a few hours from his execution that the bound and unarmed alchemist made a perilous escape once removed from his imprisonment and put into transportation. The guards in charge of containing him were later found with severe burns on their faces along with a green acidic residue, with Murdoch nowhere to be seen; they claimed he looked them both straight in the eyes before projectile vomiting a searing green liquid into their faces. That was the last Murdoch was ever heard of in Skyrim, and for the span of a few years, anywhere at all.
After his near execution, Murdoch had fled south into Cyrodiil where he lived low profile for the next couple of years, joining a small cult of Peryite's followers. After infecting them with the "Affliction" bestowed unto him by Peryite, Murdoch instructed his fellow cultists to help cleanse Tamriel by spreading the Affliction. With their activity on the rise, the small cult was eventually discovered looming through the Cyrodillic countrysides by the Vigilants of Stendarr, and was promptly attacked. That night, the group was viciously slew, save for only a few survivors. By the skin of his teeth, Murdoch managed to escape with his life. With little remaining, the cult disbanded, but Murdoch still felt his business on Tamriel needed to be finished, and that was all the justification he needed to press on.
Murdoch's Affliction continued to ravage his body, disfiguring his body and face. He took to draping himself in a dark cloak and bird-like mask to conceal both his disfigurements and identity. Returning to his homelands, Murdoch took to roaming the wilderness at night infecting whoever was unfortunate enough to cross his path. He began to continue his studies alongside his work for Peryite, spreading and modifying a variety of diseases, as well as continuing to craft deadly and debilitating poisons. With his reputation building as a boogeyman-like figure, many would seek to kill him off in order to put and end to his threat, though none were successful. It wasn't long before someone preformed The Black Sacrament to have him assassinated, but Murdoch proved to be quite the force to be reckoned with, and used one of his finer poisons to take out the assassin with only a single scratch. Soon after, Murdoch was contacted by the Dark Brotherhood for his alchemy capabilities. Primarily out of intimidation, Murdoch agreed to join as an apothecary and poison-maker, and at times, a highly inconspicuous assassin.

┏Murdoch is most commonly seen dressed in long, dark cloak with a white bird-like mask and hood. The eyes of the mask are a dark, brown-ish red that glint in direct light. Underneath his mask, Murdoch's body has been ravaged and disfigured by the wasting disease gifted to him by Peryite. His skin has a rashy, reddish tint with what appear to be green pustules and ulcers covering his limbs and torso. His lower lip and jaw have sustained damage from his own use of the vile vapors, which have eaten away at the skin.

Once spotted, Murdoch can put up a fight, but prefers to remain unseen and strike while his opponent's guard is lowered. tab ■ Berry Picking Murdoch is in need of some chokeberries: a highly poisonous berry native to Cyrodiil. Unfortunately, they are scarcely sold in Skyrim, but every now and then, a vendor out of Cyrodiil would carry them. With the berry being so rare in Skyrim, it would likely fetch a high price, and Murdoch has never exactly been the wealthiest of people. With murky morals himself, Murdoch isn't above stealing or sabotage to get what he wants, but he may need some help.
tab ■ Daddy Issues Having caught word of a Forsworn leader by the name of Tredlac commanding a camp in Karthspire, Murdoch has suddenly become interested in killing him. Though Murdoch isn't shy about sharing his contempt for the Forsworn, many find it curious that he's targeted this member specifically. From what information he's already gathered, this would not be a simple in and out job, as the camp is highly guarded and Tredlac might be a more formidable target than he would anticipate for a 70 year old man.

Suffice to say, Murdoch and his mother could never afford much, namely the adequate care she so desperately needed. The disease continued to ravage the Reachman woman's health over the years—a disease that was too expensive for her to receive. After years and years of slowly watching his mother deteriorate, she finally passed away. In a whir of emotions, there was a part of Murdoch that sighed with somber relief; her suffering was at its end and there was only one other thing he thought he could devote his life to. With very few coin to his name, he traveled across the tundras of Skyrim, headed northward to the College of Winterhold. Though lacking in most fundamental education, Murdoch revealed quite the dedication to alchemy and went on to study it meticulously over the next few years. He eventually set his interests on the more obscure or hard to treat diseases, determined to create affordable treatments available to all. Though, the farther he delved into the study of these diseases, the more interest he gained on the state of illness itself. Better yet, the root of it all...
... and went a little too far.
Murdoch began to withdraw and behave secretively, marked only by claims of finding something "greater" than he anticipated. Fellow students also took note of Murdoch's increasingly heavy use of test skeevers. When confronted, he would only respond with excited, yet shady retorts of "you'll see!" This carried on for a few months before a number of students and faculty began to experience flu-like symptoms; nothing much was thought of it at first, until those infected's conditions only grew worse and worse. There were even a few whose lives were claimed by the hand of disease as Murdoch only watched with smug fascination from afar. On account of his suspicious activity months prior, Murdoch quickly became a primary suspect for the sudden outbreak in Winterhold, while others would claim it was merely a pandemic, albeit an unfortunate one. Evidence suggested it was more than an outbreak; cryptic notes were found stowed away in Murdoch's quarters, tucked away in the various drawers and cabinets, while an abundance of infected skeevers were found in the midden, all of which experienced later stages of the pandemic. The notes in question seemed to heavily imply some sort of contact between him and a Daedric being. With Murdoch being unable to write well, many of the recovered notes were filled with doodles illustrating his findings; one drawing heavily featured was of a serpentine, dragon-like being. Older notes, ones thought to be dated before his sudden change in behavior, described an interest in the state of illness itself and its connection to the Daedric Prince Peryite. Though, his intentions still remained as they had when he first began: innocent and well-meaning, but the more he appeared to press into the matter, the more his ideals began to change. He illustrated his contact with the being—it came to him in the form of a specter of rats and offered an answer to all his questions. It was after that particular log that his priorities shifted.
After all the collected evidence and reports, Murdoch was declared guilty of murder, biological warfare, and daedra worship, and was sentenced to death. He made no claims to innocence, and said nothing when questioned, but only stared with a sort of giddy anticipation. Along the days leading up to his trial, Murdoch's appearance began to subtly change; his skin took on a splotchy, reddish tint, and his body seemed to rapidly drop in weight. It wasn't until about a few hours from his execution that the bound and unarmed alchemist made a perilous escape once removed from his imprisonment and put into transportation. The guards in charge of containing him were later found with severe burns on their faces along with a green acidic residue, with Murdoch nowhere to be seen; they claimed he looked them both straight in the eyes before projectile vomiting a searing green liquid into their faces. That was the last Murdoch was ever heard of in Skyrim, and for the span of a few years, anywhere at all.
After his near execution, Murdoch had fled south into Cyrodiil where he lived low profile for the next couple of years, joining a small cult of Peryite's followers. After infecting them with the "Affliction" bestowed unto him by Peryite, Murdoch instructed his fellow cultists to help cleanse Tamriel by spreading the Affliction. With their activity on the rise, the small cult was eventually discovered looming through the Cyrodillic countrysides by the Vigilants of Stendarr, and was promptly attacked. That night, the group was viciously slew, save for only a few survivors. By the skin of his teeth, Murdoch managed to escape with his life. With little remaining, the cult disbanded, but Murdoch still felt his business on Tamriel needed to be finished, and that was all the justification he needed to press on.
Murdoch's Affliction continued to ravage his body, disfiguring his body and face. He took to draping himself in a dark cloak and bird-like mask to conceal both his disfigurements and identity. Returning to his homelands, Murdoch took to roaming the wilderness at night infecting whoever was unfortunate enough to cross his path. He began to continue his studies alongside his work for Peryite, spreading and modifying a variety of diseases, as well as continuing to craft deadly and debilitating poisons. With his reputation building as a boogeyman-like figure, many would seek to kill him off in order to put and end to his threat, though none were successful. It wasn't long before someone preformed The Black Sacrament to have him assassinated, but Murdoch proved to be quite the force to be reckoned with, and used one of his finer poisons to take out the assassin with only a single scratch. Soon after, Murdoch was contacted by the Dark Brotherhood for his alchemy capabilities. Primarily out of intimidation, Murdoch agreed to join as an apothecary and poison-maker, and at times, a highly inconspicuous assassin.

┏Murdoch is most commonly seen dressed in long, dark cloak with a white bird-like mask and hood. The eyes of the mask are a dark, brown-ish red that glint in direct light. Underneath his mask, Murdoch's body has been ravaged and disfigured by the wasting disease gifted to him by Peryite. His skin has a rashy, reddish tint with what appear to be green pustules and ulcers covering his limbs and torso. His lower lip and jaw have sustained damage from his own use of the vile vapors, which have eaten away at the skin.

┏Murdoch is a stealth-based, close-ranged fighter. He prefers inconspicuous methods of attack, such as with poisons, but is capable dealing rapid damage with a dagger. At times, he also lets others do the fighting for him, whether by conjuration or releasing infected animals onto his target. Once spotted, Murdoch can put up a fight, but prefers to remain unseen and strike while his opponent's guard is lowered. He would rather look for a way to flee and go back into hiding once he is seen.

tab ■ Berry Picking Murdoch is in need of some chokeberries: a highly poisonous berry native to Cyrodiil. Unfortunately, they are scarcely sold in Skyrim, but every now and then, a vendor out of Cyrodiil would carry them. With the berry being so rare in Skyrim, it would likely fetch a high price, and Murdoch has never exactly been the wealthiest of people. With murky morals himself, Murdoch isn't above stealing or sabotage to get what he wants, but he may need some help.
tab ■ Daddy Issues Having caught word of a Forsworn leader by the name of Tredlac commanding a camp in Karthspire, Murdoch has suddenly become interested in killing him. Though Murdoch isn't shy about sharing his contempt for the Forsworn, many find it curious that he's targeted this member specifically. From what information he's already gathered, this would not be a simple in and out job, as the camp is highly guarded and Tredlac might be a more formidable target than he would anticipate for a 70 year old man.
