I've got a list of people I'll be doing stitches for, for Christmas this year. :3 Some people haven't decided what they want, though. Wish me luck on this endeavor, haha.

PurpleAngel2God I cross-stitch too. In fact, going to start my new granddaughters baby quilt this week heart heart heart heart Aww! How sweet! What's it gonna look like? Is it a pattern you made yourself, or one you found? Currently , the gift I'm working on is a chart of a beer stein with fancy lettering that says "Make Pour Decisions." It's for a friend who loves beer.

I've always had trouble with those.

I do it VERY poorly, I tend to stick with very small very easy ones. I cant even do a proper back stitch. sweatdrop I see old ones done by my great aunt, it looks exactly the same front to back, my back looks soooo icky.

I can do almost all of the stitches EXCEPT the French knot. That too frustrates me to the point that I just improvise and to do it.

I haven't done it before, but I have a pattern for a picture I want to make and supplies that I've been thinking about using for several years now. whee It just seems intimidating to try to figure out how to start, y'know?

Daffodil the Destroyer I haven't done it before, but I have a pattern for a picture I want to make and supplies that I've been thinking about using for several years now. whee It just seems intimidating to try to figure out how to start, y'know? Oh, for sure! I always hate starting them the most, but I think that can be the hardest part of most any artsy thing.. Basically, get the dimensions of your pattern in stitches, and divide that by your fabric's count (stitches per inch). That's your final product's dimensions. Now add four inches, so that if your final were to be 7x7, it would now be 11x11. Fold the cut fabric in half both ways to find the approximate center. Usually from there, I use a fabric pen to draw out the grid from the center. It makes things so much easier to follow. Then, I use that same pen to just dot all the squares that will be stitched over for my first colour. Super useful if you hate eyeballing it! (But I still do that sometimes, too.) Pick the colour that is the most common near the center, and start with that one. Good luck! biggrin

I'll put them in my own patterns all day, but I can never actually stitch them properly! I want to see if I can get better with beads, too, stitching beads onto my works.

French knots are easy to make. Push your needle thru to the front/image side. Wrap the thread around your needle 2-3 times. Insert the needle half way with wrapped thread at the space where you want the stitch/knot. Pull the thread taut on the needle and hold the wrapped thread at the space you want it. While holding the thread, pull the needle thru to the back side. Voila 🧵
