Normal
The normal Gem Critters are the most common of all the breeds. They were the first to be discovered. The females are generally larger then the males, and will carry the gems until they are laid, and care for them until they hatch. It is difficult to tell the gender of a Gem from the stone, as the males and females look alike. You may notice some feathers appearing around the gem at times. This only means it's close to hatching, though. Make sure to keep a close eye one it.
Once your Gem Critter has emerged from it's rock-hard shell, they're curious and excited about the new world around them. In this stage they can't fly. Their wings are grown enough to carry them. However, if they get to a high enough spot they can glide pretty far.
Finally, your Gem Critter will reach adulthood. Their wings are now strong enough to lift them off the ground without having to leap off things. They are able to do what they want and show their true personalities.
Breed Summary: Breed Colors: All colors Breed Characteristics: Fluffy wings, short fuzzy mane and tail, Neutral Hierarchy Clutch size: 2-4 Gems Breeding age: Adult Breeding partners: Normal, Wingless, Valentine Breeding Gender: Male x Female
Breeding Note: Under special cycles of the moon, Normals may be allowed to breed with Aquatics, as well as be able to breed with those of the same gender (Male x Male, Female x Female). It is not discouraged for couples to be of different species or gender, however it may take them longer in order to produce Gems of their own.
Surrogacy is also an option for same-gendered couples. If a Gem Critter is found that is willing to participate, they can be added to the breeding forms as a surrogate. Also, sometimes during breeding's there will be a surrogate available provided by either the shop, or another shop-goer whose pet has volunteered. So look for these slots of well.
The Wingless Gem Critters are another common breed. They were the second to be discovered. Unlike the regular Gems, they have no wings to boast of, and are completely flightless. However, what they lack in flying power, they make up in dexterity. They are some of the most agile of the gem breeds, using their stronger tails and more nimble paws to climb around and hold onto things. The females are also generally smaller then the males, and the males seem to be more dominant in this breed. They also seem to be found a lot in the desert.
Males will braid their hair and bind their tail with rings. The more rings you have, the higher your status is in the group. They can also attach items to the rings to display them. They can also attach things that rattle when they shake them, warning others away from their territory, or to warn predators that they are not something to eat.
Females are only allowed to wear ponytails, as a sign of their lower status to the males. They are not allowed to wear rings in their tails, or to adorn items. They are usually 'auctioned' off by their families to cement deals, or increase their families prestige by being paired off with a higher-ringed male. Females generally do not get a choice in their mate. The female will carry the gems until they are laid, and care for them until they hatch. It is difficult to tell the gender of a Gem from the stone, as the males and females look alike. Unlike the regular Gem Critters, there will be no feathers that appear on the gem right before they hatch.
Once your Gem Critter has emerged from it's rock-hard shell, they're curious and excited about the new world around them. In this stage they tend to get themselves into a lot of trouble, climbing in, around, and over things that they probably shouldn't.
Finally, your Gem Critter will reach adulthood. Their tails are now strong enough to lift them off the ground and they have mastered curling it around objects. Depending on the personality, no locked cabinet or upper storage area may be safe from these little Critters. They are able to do what they want and show their true personalities.
Breed Summary: Breed Colors: All colors Breed Characteristics: No wings, stronger tails, more nimble paws, desert breed, smaller females, male domination in groups Clutch size: 2-4 Gems Breeding age: Adult Breeding partners: Wingless, Normal, Valentine Breeding Gender: Male x Female
Breeding Note: Under special cycles of the moon, Wingless may be allowed to breed with Aquatics, as well as be able to breed with those of the same gender (Male x Male, Female x Female). Aquatics
The Aquatic Gem Critters are one of the lesser known of all the breeds. They were the third to be discovered. In northern regions, the colors are more muted, where southern varieties have much more brilliant colors. Depending on the region, either the male or female is the most brightly colored to try to attract a mate. The females are generally larger then the males, however the breeding configuration is different. Females will produce the gems, and place them in the seaweed, and the male will fertilize them. Both parents will guard the spawn area until the gems hatch. In large schools, either a male or female can be the leader. It is difficult to tell the gender of a Gem from the stone, as the males and females look alike. The way to tell that the Gem is about to hatch is it become more see-through.
Once your Gem Critter has emerged from it's shell, they're curious and excited about the new world around them. In this stage they aren't strong swimmers, and may hang out in the shallows.. They swim around the grasses and may chase other things in order to become stronger.
Finally, your Gem Critter will reach adulthood. Their fins are now strong, and they can swim in almost all currents. and explore the waterways. They are able to do what they want and show their true personalities.
Breed Summary: Breed Colors: Color varies by regions Breed Characteristics: Long back fins, long arm fins, back fins for steering, females spawn to produce. Clutch size: 2-4 Gems Breeding age: Adult Breeding partners: Aquatic Breeding Gender: Male x Female
Breeding Note: Under special cycles of the moon, Aquatics may be allowed to breed with Normal, Wingless, and Valentines, as well as be able to breed with those of the same gender (Male x Male, Female x Female). It is not discouraged for couples to be of different species or gender, however it may take them longer in order to produce Gems of their own.

The Valentine Gem Critters are some of the rarest of all the breeds. They were the latest to be discovered. The breed consist of only females. They have softer dove-wings, and have what appear to be a unicorn horn growing as the gem on their forehead. Unlike other breeds as well, they have longer manes, and their tails are stubby, with long tail fur growing from it. Some of their shell has grown around the toes to create a hard shell, looking and acting almost like hooves. Though they live in a warm environment, they can use these 'hooves' to dig through touch material, strip bark or leaves from trees, and if they need to, dig their way through snow. They mainly come in various shades of red and white, though more is being discovered about this breed. One last breed characteristic is that their fur is much longer around their ankles and wrists, coming down to cover the toes when they are standing straight. These characteristics make them look like more of a horse then the dragon-like creatures of the other breeds.
In the first stage, you may notice some feathers appearing around the gem at times.
The gem shells around their feet are still soft, but seem to harden a bit more each day.
Finally, your Gem Critter will reach adulthood. Their 'hooves' have hardened and their wings are now strong enough to lift them off the ground without having to leap off things. They are able to do what they want and show their true personalities.
Breed Summary: Breed Colors: Reds and whites Breed Characteristics: Shells on the toes referred to as "hooves", long mane, short tail with long hair on tail, and only Females. Clutch size: 2-4 Gems Breeding age: Adult Breeding partners: Valentine, Normal, Wingless Breeding Gender: Female x Female
Breeding Note: Valentine usually stay amongst themselves, though a few have found female breeding partners outside of their race. They are generally genuinely confused if a male asks them to be a breeding partner, as they no not understand males. Under special cycles of the moon, Valentines may be allowed to breed with Aquatics. It is not discouraged for couples to be of different species, however it may take them longer in order to produce Gems of their own.
