*Steady beeping of a heart monitor echo's through a silent room. A lone redhaired woman lays there, comatose. She has laid unconscious for the past year, brought in secret. No one knows who she is or how she gets there. Her only identifying marks are her fiery hair and a huge firebird tattoo covering her back*

Hikura knocked on the door before letting herself in. The corner of a bag of chips was temporarily being held by her teeth as her hands held the door and a glass of water; her wings were hidden with an illusion-like ability so normal people couldn't see them at the moment. Besides, they were tucked tightly against her back. Closing it with her foot she quietly went and sat on the couch near the bed where Phoenix lay.
It'd been a year since the whole thing happened. Trent announced his deviation from the path of a protector, wounded his former friends and left. Phoenix took the most damage, from what she understood, seeing as she still hadn't healed after a year. She practically couldn't, from whatever the move was that Trent used on her.
Not having opened her snack she set it aside and pulled out a small notebook, flipping through it. Some parts had random observations, others were random drawings, ideas.. nothing made any particular amount of sense. All this time she'd been pondering on and off ways she could fix Phoenix's condition, but she couldn't think of anything in particular. A pencil rolled out of her jacket pocket, which she carefully picked up and twirled it mindlessly in between her fingers. Looking up with a sigh she stared at Phoenix, who lay still in a clean hospital bed.
Honestly she felt a little responsible- if she'd responded faster, made an effort- than maybe.. No. With her power at the time of attack, there wasn't any way she could've stopped him.
Closing her notebook she leaned back and stared at the ceiling in thought, resting the book on her lap.

Without knocking, David entered the sterile white room. His hair was a bit longer now nearly at the ends of his ears and his were darker than before. The black button up shirt and matching black slacks were riddled with holes and what looked like cuts from a blade of sorts.
As he moved closer to the bed, a wash of emotions came over him. It had been a year since Trent turned his back on humanity and his friends. Things are still unclear as to what happened after Phoenix went down. The darkness that rested behind his eyes was neutralized some how; something silenced his father...
David stopped in front of the couch that Hikura sat on. He stared at her for a moment before taking in a deep breath then slowly sitting down. She was staring up at the ceiling but something told him that she was paying attention to his presence.
Staring at the unconscious Phoenix David began to speak
" Why do I feel as helpless as her right now?" His voice was rough like he had gravel in his throat.
"I never would have guessed that SHE would be the target of the attack... It didn't make sense to leave Leo or me. He could have extinguished either of our lives for good and yet he went after her."
David's anger grew but his voice remained steady. His eyes trained on the bed.
" it didn't make sense then, and it doesn't make sense now."
David fell silent as his mind wandered but never took his eyes off of the comatose Phoenix.

Hikura sighed once more, picking up the bag of chips and holding them out to David without looking- instead she turned her head to Phoenix again. "I wasn't sure either..who it would be. Perhaps she knew something, some way to stop him. Or he was lying when he said he actually wanted to kill everyone. It hurts, but honestly she's the only one who would live from such an attack.. sort of." She winced at her own words and stood up, leaving the bag of chips where shed been sitting. Crossing her arms she went up to the bed and slowly circled around it, her eyes moving over Phoenix's body, although they kept gravitating towards where the wound was. Is. She wasn't entirely sure of the nature of it. Frustration flashed in her eyes for a brief moment before it was hidden just as quickly. She'd been thinking that maybe there was something she could do to stall the effect of the wound, or give Phoenix some of her energy, but again that wasn't a sure thing either. Who knew the effect it would have. "Wheres Leo, anyway? Do you know if he's coming at all today?" She said, trying to distract herself. Looking up out the window it was a little cloudy out now, and it looked like it might rain soon.

David thought back to the grim angel war. How many times had he seen Trent use that move? How many times had he helped him land it successfully? Hikura and David had one definite thing in common... they both felt responsible for what happened in one way or another.
"Leo has always been kind of a loner, but he and Phoenix got along well enough. They at least respected each other as comrades in arms."
David leaned forward a little resting his elbows on his knees, one hand cupping a closed fist.
"Leo may show up, or he may not... he is random that way. My money is that he is doing what he does best. Gathering intel."
After a minute, David grabbed the chips that were left beside him on the couch and ate one from the bag before sitting it back down exactly the way he had found them.
"She is strong, maybe the strongest of us all. She will make it through this...right?" David sounded unsure.

((lol i took too long and now we are one year in the future I'm not gonna lie I like where this is going))
*Alison is standing in the corner of the hospital room seemingly to have been there all along but the truth is she just arrived*
"I never thought I would be here in the same room as Phoenix without wanting to kill her"
*Alison says jokingly*
"David and Hikura i have been trying to track Trent since the incident one year ago but the trail has gone cold almost like he has vanished"
*Looks to Phoenix*
"That attack he used on Phoenix his infinity one sword style or more accurately your infinity one sword style David you taught it to him did you not?"
*Walks over to her bedside resting her hands on her bed*
"Phoenix is an immortal meaning if she dies she will be reborn something about that technique he used is either repeatedly killing her or keeping her from dying so she can''t be reborn David you must know something about it it was originally your technique"
*Looks to Hikura*
"If i am not mistaken you and Trent were once very close didn't you once train under him surely you have some ideal of how his power works for goodness sakes she has been like this for a whole year"

Hikura listened silently, running her hand down the bed rail/guard on the side as she walked before stopping in thought. Tilting her head to the side she responded,
"I trained under him, yes. A long time ago..he's changed so much since then, though, and it's not like he ever tried to actually kill me." She glanced at Alison as the last half of her sentence left her mouth.
It certainly had been a very, very long time.
Pulling herself away from thoughts of the past, she thought more about what Alison said. Looking to David her eyebrows rose a little,
"It was originally your technique?" Certainly either repeatedly killing her or keeping her from dying..she decided it must be the former, considering the name of the technique as well.
"I don't exactly know how a Phoenix's death and rebirth process works, do you? Even if we knew.." Walking back to where she'd left her chips she plucked her cup of water off the table next to the couch and took a few sips.
"Maybe I'm thinking about it too much. If it's a problem of not dying, wouldn't killing her solve that? Even if it doesn't work she'd still be in the same state she is now, I'm sure." After a moment she blinked, realizing how she'd worded her sentence,
"I-I mean if that's what that particular technique is doing to her, keeping her from dying..then wouldn't everything be solved if we just..yknow." Turning around to face David and Alison she looked a little flustered,
"Unless that's not how it works! ....What do you guys think? David?" She said quickly, clasping her hands together.

David's eyes were locked on Allison. He glared at her with a mixture of shame and anger. He and Allison had not had the best relationship in the past to say it lightly. He sucked in a deep breath as he threw his head back looking up at the ceiling.
"Long time Allison... " his voice was colder than usual.
"I did teach it to him. He caught on much too fast now that I think about it. a technique like that is sacred to my family..."
David trailed off momentarily as he ran his fingers across the back of his neck where a dark black scar of some sort just barely peeked from beyond his collar.
"My mother told me a long time ago that my father would use that technique to torture grim angels. under normal circumstances, we couldn't kill one but he found a way to hurt them for the duration of their long life. She mentioned a way to disrupt the process by way of absorbing... but that was water. Light is a different story totally."
David's head snapped forward suddenly as he sprang to his feet. he now wore a determined look.
"I may be able to overload the light but i am unsure of the effects. and it will take far more energy to overload a grim angel's power. more than i have at the present moment."
David takes a look around the room to analyze the reactions of the two woman standing before him awaiting their responses

"Oh!! i am terribly sorry i had no ideal our mystery woman was so popular. Please excuse me i just came to turn the television on the for some background music some say its therapeutic with coma patients"
*The nurse walks past the group of people and uses the bedside remote to turn the tv on turning it to the music channel some soft sounds plan*
"See that is much better do you all know this lady she was just left on the hospital steps a year ago her vitals are weak but stable and doctors just can't find whats wrong with her"
*Just then the music is interupted with a news flash*

*The announcer on tv said frantically*
"Oh the election is finally over i wonder who won"
"I present to you hellview city your new Mayor Trent Timeless!!!!"

Hikura snapped her fingers, "If it's disrupting light, I could probably do it..I'd also need a little more power though.." Her enthusiasm faded as quickly as it came. Just then a nurse came in, startling her, although it only shone in her eyes. Before they could get a word in she'd turned on the tv and left. Then she saw who was on screen, causing her to put a hand over her mouth.
Once the nurse left she actually burst out into uncontrollable laughter. "A MAYOR?" She crouched on the floor, face turning red with laughter. After a good minute she took a deep breath and stopped laughing, then stood up. "Well! At least we know where to find him. I-"
Jumping back in reaction to the seizure-like state Phoenix just erupted into her heart started pounding. "W- s**t. Shiiit!"

"People of Hellview i am Trent and i shall lead you all into a new age. *Trent snaps his fingers and hundreds of blacked dressed armed guards appear on the roof tops of surrounding buildings*
"I present to you the new police force of Hellview the GA corps!!!"
*Each soilder seems to give off a slight glow much like Trent's and an aura of power seems to emit from them*
"Each one of these soldiers has undergone my very own special training and soon will make up our own military force we shall conquer other countries using the ga corps and become a sovereign power"
*The crowd on television seems to be intimidated by the presence of the soldiers*

*Alison has a concerned look on her face*
"Hikura i think this is actually a problem Trent was talking about putting the human race under his command in just one year he was able to obtain a position of power in a government no matter how insignificant it is and also form a militia"
*Alison takes a closer look at the soldiers*
"Not to mention those soldiers don't seem very human to me this could really be a problem"
*She then notice's phoenix's vitals spike*
"What the hell is going on with her?

Hikura's eyes snapped over to the television when Trent introduced his soldiers. Her face was completely serious now. The beeping of machinery keeping Phoenix alive, however, was drowning out what Trent was saying. At least from where she stood.
"I-I don't know, but we need to try something, soon. David, we could work together? We need to hurry before the staff here comes in."

David's eyes were torn between the television screen and Phoenix. He wanted to dive through the tv and confront Trent right then in that moment but he and everyone else in the room knew that there were bigger priorities.
"We wait for her vitals to flat line..." David said as he began to roll up his sleeves and make his way over to the bed.
"Her best chance for surviving this ordeal is at the moment her old life ends. She should in theory be able to be reborn. In THEORY, it is our best chance either way."
At that moment David took one finally look at the screen as it zoomed in on Trent's face. David snarled before returning focus to Phoenix. Placing both hands over the wound ,four black arcane symbols began to moved down David's arms. One symbol rested on the back of each hand and the remaining two stopped at his wrists. There was a silence at first, then came and low steady humming sound. The two symbols on his left hand and wrist started to glow a deep red while the ones on his right were a royal blue.
He eyes the machine connected to Phoenix that showed her vitals as the humming grew more intense.
"Allison watch the door. Keep anyone that isn't familiar out. Hikura when I say so, I need you force as much energy as you can into ME..." David said never taking his eyes off of the machine
