She juggles two children under the age of six, a job at a local bookstore, an overbearing mother and late paid bills that just seem to keep piling up. She swims through the oily water of her life with such grace, though, that is a wonder that she is still single. She is talented, smart, musically adept and patient.
History: Marla's father passed away from unknown causes when she was seven. Her mother dealt with it the way she dealt with every other horrible situation, passive-aggressiveness and dry, awful sarcasm. Marla partied often in her teenage years and while she was doing so she ended up pregnant. She was 17. She moved out of her mother's home a few months later and into a mobile home a few blocks away. She settled for motherhood and gave up the partying. She got a job and had her baby boy, Gerald. At 20, Marla met a guy who promised her a wonderful life. Again, her fertility hit the roof and she was pregnant once more. Her so-called soul mate hit the road and she had her second son, Winslow.
