Name: Chrysicai (Cai)
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Role/rank: Candidate/ J.man Healer
Origin: Fort

Appearance: Cai stands at a modest but acceptable 5'9" with a generally narrow frame from top to bottom. Determined effort has broadened and defined the muscles of his upper torso and arms, making him look slightly less like a beanpole while also ensuring his ability to keep up with the sometimes grueling demands of being a healer.

His skin is fair and bears the dragons share of perns freckle allotment it seems, covering almost every inch of exposed flesh. More often than not it appears flushed either with sun, or high emotion as Cai's natural reaction to anything is to turn bright red. The closely shorn hair atop Cai's head is a vibrant orange color in no way resembling a pretty sunkissed blond, nor warm russet. It is just orange. Given time to grow, it may take on a more yellowish tint, but there will be no escaping that eye catching shade until it is taken over by age.

Cai's grey eyes are set beneath thick straight brows and are only a shade or two lighter than the stony cliffs of his home. His pointed chin and jawline could be potentially described as strong, or stubborn depending upon your tastes and his nose is neither particularly long nor short, though the tip does turn up just a bit.

Personality: Responsible, Bold, Trustworthy
Sarcastic, Argumentative, Controlling
Sit Down. Shut Up. Do as I say or get out of my way. Cai is In Charge and you'll just have to deal with it. They need to have their fingers in every little pie and everything needs to go as they expect it to. Cai is very much the micromanager. They'll constantly be on others backs, making sure they're doing their work properly. Cai doesn't so much agree with lazing about. There are things to be done and people need to do them NOW not later or when they feel like it.

Someone OBVIOUSLY needs to take control of these unruly kids and get them into shape! Cai believes their doing what's best for the Weyr and it's inhabitants though many will just find him bossy. Cai will question anyone and everyone's methods if they don't think they're the best. "Why not do it this way? It would go a lot faster if you did this..." ect. Cai hates to argue about it and if possible they'd prefer to do a job personally rather than trust to someone else's shoddy methods.

Cai internalizes a lot of emotion and stress. Their need for control of their external situation often comes from a pessimistic and anxious mind automatically jumping to the worst possible scenarios at any given moment. Cai's highly defensive and protective of their own privacy and an insistence that yes, everything is ok and no one should worry about them at all because they have things under control if people would just leave them alone and let them work! Cai's driven to keep their mind busy so as not to dwell on things and any idle time must be filled with productive tasks to stave off anxiety.

Casual, reserved friendships are safe enough and fairly easy to maintain as long as it's a person who doesn't fret over being snapped at on occasion. Anything deeper is difficult for Cai and requires a lot of effort on both parts to preserve the type of wary trust they must give in order to have that connection.

History: Chrysicai was born and spent her early life at Fort Weyr. Her mother was a weaver and her father a blue rider with whom she'd had a brief romance. It was over fairly quickly when, upon her excited announcement that she was with child, he immediately offered to take her between to rid herself of it. Offended at his quick dismissal she declined and broke it off with him choosing to raise the child herself within the weyr. As a small act of spite though, Cai's mother did name him very clearly after his absent father who he looked so much like.

From the get-go Cai was very independent. Stubborn and sure of himself he fought his way to the top of the pecking order among the weyr children and later, healer apprentices. He'd develop a circle of others who were kept more acquaintances than actual friends. When he came of age he chose an apprenticeship among the healers over candidacy. At 12 he left the weyr to pursue his craft.

Healing suited him. While his bedside and personal manners left something to be desired, his skill within the craft itself developed quickly. In particular when it came to emergency medicine and triage his quick mind and knack for diagnosis helped him excel.

Just as he was entering his Sr. Apprenticeship rumors of sickness began to reach the Hall. Within a turn of his 16th nameday the northern continent was in a state of panic as dragons began dying off in unprecedented numbers. The Healers Hall and Beastcraft halls began working together, cross training Journeymen and Apprentices in an attempt to figure out a cause and subsequently a cure for the mysterious plague that seemed unstoppable.

Given the sudden urgency for their craft, Cai buckled down and two turns later had completed the requirements for his Journeyman's knots. Six months of specialized training in treating the symptoms of this new disease and he was allowed to transfer back home to Fort Weyr. Even if it was too late to save the last few northern dragons, he at least could make their final days more comfortable while he continued to document and report everything he could for the Hall.

While has a weyrborn he might have stood in the past without being searched, it came as a bit of a surprise that while he was working with a former search rider who's dragon was ill the rider commented that his dragon thought Cai would be good for their kind. Cai considered their offer. His skills were useful as he was, but he was making little progress in discovering a means to cure the disease. He didn't have much hope for the future of dragonkind. Yes, this clutch may hatch but if there was no queen there would be no more following it. Then too, even if there was, would she live to see her maiden flight? Would any of this last clutch reach adulthood at all?

If he did stand and Impress though... he could use what time he might have with his dragon to better understand the nature and progression of the disease. Even though it would undoubtedly end in tragedy... it might be his only shot at figuring this thing out.

Other: Man girl you know me I'm a sucker for some Plots with a capitol P don'tchaknow. Also yeah, since the hatching has already started I'm not trying to squeeze an actual impression this time around, just wanted enough history to establish that he IS Standing at this clutch.
