So let us hear your horror stories about what you've seen people do to cars or stuff you've accidently done to your own cars.

For me when I was still learning about cars I made one huge mistake that cost me a lot. My oil light was blinking and I didn't realize I needed to change the oil as I thought the oil light had to be on solid for me to change the oil. At the time I never heard about the 3 months/3,000 miles thing. So in the end my car just didn't start one day and I ended up needing to get a whole new engine put in the car. Yeah I was kind of dumb at the time hehe sweatdrop

At least you didn't do like one person who owned a Corvette and was driving it on the Capitol Beltway (I-495) when they drove over a cinder block which ripped away the oil pan. They then kept driving even with all the warning lights and gauges insisting that they stop, until the engine finally seized. $10, 000 for a new engine at the dealership (some of the mechanics were chatting about it when I was there for a state inspection back in 1999).

As for me, probably the worst was driving the old Safari van off of the ramps and causing the front end to drop a foot because I couldn't tell if the front wheels had settled in the groove at the top of the ramps, in preparation for doing an oil change (and thus knocked out the alignment of both front wheels).

sounds like a couple interesting adventures. It's amazing what humans do to their cars lol

I'm not sure if this counts or not, but I used to drive with the windows down a lot. My ac wasn't the best and I lived in the southeast, so summers were brutal. So I had a run in with the occasional insect (and one time a wasp while I was on the interstate, but that's another story...) along the way. It was never really a big deal for me, as I was a broke college student and it beat dying of heat exhaustion.

So I was on my way to work when I noticed a funny motion in my rearview mirror. When it was safe to do so, I took a quick look behind my shoulder to see the stuff that nightmares are made of: millions of baby spiders were crawling around and making webs in the backseat of my car. I suppose that on one of my many drives with the windows down, a preggo spider or its egg sac made its way into my car and just happened to hatch while I was driving.

To this day I am not sure how I did not have an immediate breakdown in the car, as I am terrified of spiders after several bad run ins, including a brown recluse bite. Somehow I kept a cool head for the next quarter of a mile that it took to make it into the work parking lot. My manager wrapped a broom handle with the sticky end of duct tape and helped me clean out the immediate threat, while I called my parents to come and fumigate my car while I was at work.

Needless to say, I stopped driving with my windows down.
