Aysun walked into the courtroom, glancing around to see few people. It was still early, and this wasn't the most exciting case to watch. He looked over to the prosecution's side. If Parker was there he'd be sure to stare cold daggers at him. Turning his head quickly, he moved to the defense's side and sat down in the first row.
His heart was racing. He hadn't seen his parents in nearly twenty years. Of course it broke his heart to know that his first time meeting them would be because of theft, but his father explained everything to him. Their theft wasn't because of greed, it was to save their family. He understood that more than anything, which was why he'd do anything to protect them.
Even if it meant hiring Parker's own father to fight him in court.

Sitting in his chair on the prosecution's side, Parker sighed and flinched at Aysun's glare. He'd tried to make amends, but there was no point. Aysun was never going to forgive him for this. When he'd taken the case, he had been reluctant already. He had been intending to recuse himself when he heard about the case itself. It was too easy to pass up, and plus, it was bound to make Aysun feel good to have his awful parents in jail. However, they manipulated him too easily and he'd lost his lover just like that. Hopefully, they couldn't get a good lawyer, so this would at least stay easy.
Unfortunately, that was when a familiar powerhouse walked into the courtroom.
"My father?" he mumbled, then looked over to Aysun. He strode over, clenching his fists. "Out of all the lawyers in this town, you hired my dad? What the hell is wrong with you??" he demanded, only for Sawyer's hand to appear between them.
The elder Loupohl shook his head. "Have respect for the courtroom, Parker," he said, gesturing towards Parker's table. "Go sit down. We'll settle this when the trial begins."
Parker glared openly at Aysun before moving to sit down, immediately pouring over his files. There was no way he was going to lose now.

Aysun rose from his seat and opened his mouth to argue with Parker when Sawyer stopped them. He gave the older lawyer a grateful look before throwing his fiance another sharp glare.
After several minutes the side door of the courtroom opened and two people with their wrists cuffed walked to the front. Aysun's breath hitched. Those two people... Those were his parents. Ben and Rebecca Court. Despite their discount store style clothes, the two looked well off. Ben had a strong expression, reminding the teacher of Uncle Leon. The big difference was that Ben had black hair. If Aysun remembered right, he was sure his father had purple hair but must have dyed it. Then there was his mother, who held her chin up. She had a beauty to her that he was sure he inherited.
In truth, the two parents were not at all beautiful. They smelled of alcohol and a lack of shower. Ben had patches of a beard and Rebecca had make up on that was not meant for her skin. Aysun, however, couldn't see it. All he saw were his precious parents.
They looked over at him. Ben smiled sadly at him before glancing at his wife, elbowing her in the gut. She stiffened then realized they were staring at her son and gave her a gleeful look. Ben elbowed her again. "Not too happy, we're supposed to be sad," he hissed at her.
"Oh, right," Rebecca nodded slightly, switching to an ashamed smile. She gave Aysun a half-wave, who waved back slowly as to contain his excitement.
"He's a lot... skinnier than I thought," she whispered to her husband as they looked back forward. There was jealousy in her tone as her gaze dropped to her stomach.
"Of course, he's got Leon giving feeding him all that organic crap," snorted Ben. "Whatever. The kid's loaded, and the lawyer he got us is real good." He snickered to himself. "Maybe we oughta just milk some money off him after this while laying low."

Sawyer stood up straight as the defendants walked into the room. Unlike Aysun, he viewed them with a very critical eye, scanning them over and instantly making a verdict of his own. Although he usually made a habit of waiting to make any choices on what or who he believed, this time he knew instantly that the two were guilty. However, he was good enough that he could likely get them off for murder if he so wanted. That being said, the whole situation made him uncomfortable. He had to do what was asked of him and defend justice of the law as well as possible, but looking at these two pathetic souls now, it was clear in his mind that he didn't want to go full force against Parker. The problem was that Parker was good at his job, and would know if Sawyer was taking it easy. That said, he chose to do the best he could do, but hoped all the way that Parker would surprise him and win.
Once the two made their way over to Sawyer and Aysun, the tall, menacing blonde stood between the younger male and his parents once they'd had time to greet each other. "My name is Sawyer Loupohl, and I am going to defend you two today," he said calmly, deep voice rumbling the air as his handsome face remained stoic. "Your son has paid me a great deal, so this better not be a waste of my time. Now then, you both have decided to plead not guilty, correct?" He grabbed the file, then glanced back to Aysun. "Go sit down, Aysun. You don't need to sit up here with me and your parents, and once the trial starts, you won't be allowed to. Here." He reached into his pocket, holding out a twenty. "The vendors only accept cash here and we're going to be in the courthouse a while. Get yourself a couple of bottles of water. I want you to stay hydrated." His expression left little room for discussion.
The lawyer's son looked over, watching the reunion and his father's demand for absolute control. It was as to be expected of Sawyer Loupohl, but there was something different. His father wasn't a defender anymore, he'd left that life. Aysun probably offered a lot of money. But Sawyer also seemed to have such disdain for his clients. Could ti be that he didn't actually want to defend them?

Aysun moved to stand beside Sawyer, at least where the partition let him, though his eyes were glued to his parents. There they were, right within his reach. Now he could finally talk to them and-
Aysun stiffened as Sawyer turned to look at him, telling him to leave. He opened his mouth to talk, only to be interrupted by a twenty dollar bill held out to him. He stared at it then up at the lawyer. Something felt off, or was this how Sawyer naturally acted in the courtroom? Deciding not to disobey, Aysun took the money and walked out.
But not before shooting Parker a smug smirk that read, 'Good luck' sarcastically.
"Nice to meet you, eh, sir," Ben greeted Sawyer enthusiastically, seeming to not notice Aysun leave. He recognized that name. A big shot! Defending them!

Once Aysun was gone, Sawyer turned to his clients and crossed his arms. "I don't like you," he said without hesitation. "I think you're guilty and you're just using your son for his money, and you are spineless criminals who deserve to be in jail for the rest of your miserable lives." He held up a finger. "However, I love Aysun like a son and I will do whatever he asks of me, including defend his scumbag parents from something they definitely did." He pointed to the seats. "Now sit down and shut up. I'm the best there is at my job and I'll get you two free, but after that, we are going to have a long conversation about how often you'll be contacting your son. Do you understand me?"

The two paused at Sawyer's sudden harshness, though Ben broke out into a sleazy grin by the end of the conversation. "Listen, Loupohl, there's nothin' wrong with having our son bailin' us out, is there?" he shrugged earnestly while trying to stifle his snickers.
"That's right," Rebecca chimed in. "We're just poor people that had no other way to get the money needed to see our precious son, Aiden." Nevertheless, the two walked off to sit down. By that time the doors opened to reveal a few more people trickling in, one of which was Aysun, who eagerly made his way to the front row.
"Did you want one?" he asked while holding a water bottle out to Sawyer, though his eyes kept flickering to his parents, who waved at him.

Sawyer had been a lawyer for a very long time, but these two were definitely high on his list for terrible people. He shook his head, setting a hand on his hip as he reminded himself that it was unseemly of a council to strike the defendant. Once Aysun returned, he shook his head. "I don't need one. The water's for you, Aysun. Watching me destroy Parker isn't going to make you feel too great." He gestured for the seats. "Sit down, Aysun. The trial will be starting soon." He reached to pat the younger male's shoulder in a fatherly way, offering a smile.

Aysun hesitated as he slowly lowered the water bottles. That's right. He was so excited to see his parents and so furious about Parker trying to convict them that he forgot that this was Parker, his fiance. The man he spent countless date nights with and woke up next to for months. This would create a rift between them, no doubt, but... Aysun looked at the prosecution's side. Parker created it the moment he accepted this case.

Parker ignored the eyes on him, staring forward. He was ready, he knew what to do. Suddenly, a bailiff entered the room, keeping the door open as he called out for everyone to stand. Everyone stood up, waiting until the judge spoke to sit down.

"Trial is in session," the judge announced then hit his gavel against the desk, the knock echoing in the great room. He settled in his seat, everyone following, and looked at the files laid out for him. He raised his eyebrow at a certain piece of information and looked over at both lawyers. "The two Loupohls?" he mused while removing his glasses warily. "This isn't some kind of falling out, is it?"

"It's merely a coincidence, Your Honor," said Parker, gesturing towards the defense. "Clearly my father was called in due to his incredible record." He glanced over to his parent, shaking his head before looking back to the judge and nodding that he was ready. He sat down, waiting for Sawyer to begin his opening statement.
Clearing his throat, Sawyer stood up and looked to the judge. "The defense is choosing to defer in the opening statement," said Sawyer before sitting back down, much to the surprise of the courtroom. He wasn't going to do an opening statement? It was a super important part of the trial, and he wasn't going to do it? Either he was super confident in his abilities, or he really wanted the two to go to jail.

"I see," the judge nodded, albeit warily. He looked at Sawyer expectantly, blinking in surprise when he sat right back down. No opening statement? Well, it was Sawyer Loupohl, and nowadays that wasn't uncommon for the seasoned lawyer.
The judge nodded again before looking at Parker, waiting for him to begin.
Aysun was already at the edge of his seat. He hadn't seen any of Sawyer's cases, and he was fairly sure opening statements were important. What did this mean? Was this basically saying that his parents were guilty? He nervously took a sip of his water.

Sawyer's action did as it was supposed to: it shook the hell out of Parker. He gaped like a fish. He didn't know what to do or say, or how to carry on. What could he say? No matter what he did, Sawyer looked more experienced and confident. It was a sneaky, evil trick, and one that he took note of to use later. Walking around his table, he nodded to the judge. "Your Honor, I'm not going to try and use tricks to distract or confuse you. I am here to present you with the facts. Those two people," he said, pointing to the couple, "are reckless and dangerous. They grabbed a gun and robbed a poor, defenseless woman. They were ruthless and cared for no one's safety, not even for each other's, and only could see a way to feed their avarice. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury-"
He was interrupted by a yawn from his father, who looked apologetic, but smirked at Parker.
He attempted to shrug it off, then continued, although a little shaky. "Ladies and gentlemen, Mr and Mrs Court are a danger to society, and I will prove this to you today." He moved to sit down, waiting for the judge to allow Sawyer to call his first witness.
