There was once a boy named Basil Croix. Basil was born to a very poor family, Basil and his older brother, Elias, would often be abused by their father who had a gambling addiction so bad that he once tried to sell Basil to clear up some of his debts. In their rotten family, the only two people that were ever kind to him was Elias and their mother who was very ill and feared the safety for her children should they try to escape the abusive father. Do to their abusive father, the two brothers would quickly become pick pockets and would often steal from people in their town. Often they would be caught in the act and once their father learned of what they did, he would beat them. At the age of eight, another member of their family would be born, this time it was a girl who instantly took a liking to her older brothers. However the minute she was birthed, the illness had finally taken their mother away from the three children, effectively living them to the mercy of their abusive father.

The three siblings would often have to hide from their father whenever he got home and if he found them, a beating would follow. However each time he tried to beat his daughter, the two brothers would take a beating in her place. It was one day where their father had given his daughter a black eye while Basil and Elias had gone out to get money by doing odd jobs for various people rather steal, not wanting to set a bad example for their little sister. When Elias learned that their father had given Cosmina the black eye, he told Basil to Cosmina into their room and lock and barricade the door; they were not to open the door unless they got four light knocks which would be Elias's sign of telling them it was clear. After an hour, they had heard a gunshot and sound of a heavy body dropping coming from downstairs and both wanted to see what happened, but neither would move from the room as their older brother instructed. Once the four light knocks were made, the two siblings would unlock the door only to find that blood was splattered across Elias's face. He had shot their father the second he walked through the front door from the casino without any money in his pockets. With their father dead, Basil and Cosmina were free while Elias would have to spend the rest of his life in prison. After the police arrived, Basil and Cosmina were taken to a orphanage where they would not stay long as their uncle and his wife, Junius and Zona Wolferstan, would come and adopt them within a month after their arrival. The two were now apart of a family again.

The boy and girl who were spared from a life of abusive hell thanks to the sacrifice of Elias and were now living happily with their uncle and his wife. Their uncle was a genius inventor in the field of robotics, often creating the two of them toys that would actually interact with them and follow their commands. Indeed Junius was the father they never had and they had wished Elias could be enjoying the love he gave them as well. Basil had grown so much love for his new father that he would often beat up other kids or attempt to beat up any adults who would dare try to speak ill of him or Zona. This would be often as Junius was a well renowned scientist, but he was seen as crazy for also saying that he could merge both magic and technology with one another. After coming up from getting beaten up by tougher kids, Junius would have to scold Basil but would never strike him, but would rather thank him at the end of the scolding for caring about his uncle so much. Now twenty five and getting a major in robotics, Basil had become his uncle's lab assistant, always helping him with the smallest task, rewriting programs, fixing robots that had malfunctioned, and of course providing his Uncle moral support. However as months went on, the doctor had slowly become more frustrated as his attempts to create a Technomagical Automaton failed time and time again. The uncle originally thought of making them not human at all, believing them to have monstrous appearances would help in his goal. Basil had then decided to give his uncle the idea of giving them a human-like appearance, allowing them to blend in easily and would make things much easier. Grateful for the idea, the uncle had made one of the androids' design after Basil and then had his nephew make a sample of his own seed so that should Basil die, the android would be able to make offsrpings with a woman containing Basil's DNA. It was one night when Basil had returned to his apartment after a stressful day at trying to calm down his uncle. The young man was worn out, he didn't know what else to say to his uncle at all or how to reassure him...Deciding that it was best to go to bed, Basil had stripped down to his boxers, got in bed, and fell asleep. However this would be his last night asleep as a arsonist had set fire to the apartment complex Basil was staying in and despite all of his attempts to escape, he could not and the lab assistant had burned to death.

Junius has finished his schematics for four machines to be used for his plan to eradicate all organic life on Earth due to the madness of losing not only his nephew but his wife as well, both to criminals. AMA-001 "Zeus", ASA-002 "Athena", AAA-003 "Vulcan", and ACA-004 "Talos". Each machine was created with the combination of technology and magic, making them Technomagical beings that were capable of destruction should they work together. Once the Purification Initiative was started, these four machines would be set out into the world to eliminate any and all resistance, including Heroes. Upon the four Units being created, they would instantly be thrown into countless training simulations, being tasked with destroying kidnapped innocent people. For a month the Androids would slaughter innocent people, not even giving them a chance to fight back. However after each simulation, a young girl, Junius' new lab assistant would always talk with Talos, always making sure he was okay and even teaching him things like birds, life, food, things that even a toddler would know. Sadly after their 100th battle simulation, the androids were tasked with eliminating prototype versions of themselves. The four would easily obliterate their predecessors with Unit 1 acting as their leader. With their final test completed, the four units would be hooked into a single computer which would download their main objective into their programming. As the installation was at fifty percent, they would suddenly be disconnected from the super computer. As they were disconnected, someone would install their own program onto them via a portable terminal. However Units 1-3's programs were incapable of being rewritten and were thus forced to be set to self-destruct, but before that someone did so, they would install the new program into Talos. The program was to give them not only sentience, but also to give them morals so that they would not follow the programming Junius had set. Once the programmed was fully downloaded into Talos, his creator had shot the person who reprogrammed him in the spine in an attempt to stop the do gooder. But it was already too late as Talos had actually used the ability given to his and converted his right forearm into a magical canon that would kill Junius in a single shot.

After his creator's death, Talos had decided to check on the person who had saved him, their blood all over the floor. However upon closer expection, Talos had realized the person was the woman who had spent so much time speaking with him, so much time treating him like he was a human while his creator acted as though he was a weapon only meant to bring his dream to a reality. The woman had then finally told Talos what her name was Zona, the sister of Talos' human counterpart Basil. She did not want to see her brother, even if it was not him, kill innocent people no matter the reason; while she wanted to prevent this from happening to the over Androids, she was satisfied with saving Talos from this fate. After this confession, she had given Talos her necklace, putting it around his neck before activating the self destruct sequence on the androids, telling Talos to leave her and live freely. Accepting his new programming, Talos had left the lab. As Talos' lonesome wondering life began, he would come across many war mongers and slave traders in the small unlawful country of Ebral who would try to dismantle him to sell his parts for millions. However they would always fail because Talos was far too strong for them, which was unsurprising seeing as how his original programming was for the eradication of all organic lifeforms. Three years later after his freedom, Talos would eventually come across a small town that was inhabited by Ebralians; the Ebralians had a generous water source and even some cattle and a few crops as well. Indeed this town was about the only spot of happiness in Ebral. Upon his arrival, no one could tell that he was a machine do to his body being covered by his synthetic skin. Rather fearful of what they would think if they learned that he was a machine, he would keep the entirety of his visage concealed from all eyes. One girl apart of the village even took a liking to Talos despite the other townspeople keeping distant from him as they had no idea why he was keeping himself concealed. This girl was very kind to Talos and didn't care that she didn't know what he looked like, rather it drew her towards him. The concealed android and the girl would constantly be with another, always talking to each other, keeping each other entertained, and generally making sure the other was happy. This bliss would not last however as a warmonger and his band eventually made their way to the town and without hesitation, they would open fire on the townspeople, destroying their precious water supply, burning their crops, and slaughtering their cattle. As this happened, Talos and the girl was separated, but with the sound of her scream and a gunshot, he knew exactly what happened. He believed that they had killed her, his only friend that gave him his first happiness. With this in mind, Talus would go berserk, slaughtering the entire unit that destroyed the town and not leaving a single one alive. With a blood curling, metallic roar of anger and sorrow, Talos would disappear from the town, deeply believing that it was destroyed because of him. It has been two years since the destruction of that town and the assumed death of that girl, Talos has since deactivated his emotional circuitry, making him apathetic and incapable of feeling anything. With a new mission set in place, Talos would set out onto the world with the mission of eliminating all things evil, his first destination: Gotham.
