Nuru walked through the airport, a single bag slung across his shoulder. He was hot and tired and some old dude kept fidgeting and knocking the back of his seat.
He stood straight to his full height, which even in human form was quite tall, and peered out across the rush of humans. He wasn't sure what he was looking for exactly. Would they even be expecting him? He was in New York though, exactly as asked of him.

The way to Eden, New York was difficult and would likely involve renting a car, the town itself was small and unremarkable and had a population of around 7000. It wasn't a big city and it wasn't in the middle of nowhere, no one would think much of it.
Nuru wouldn't entirely know what he was looking for when he got there, but on his arrival would feel something distinctly off about the place, some deep rooted residual energy that hovered around the stones and buildings like an aura. The nearest Nuru would be able to estimate to it would be if he had ever been in the vicinity of a Duke of Hell within Hell itself, it was the kind of power which seemed to ooze into the landscape and the buildings, giving a sensation that rather than being in a town that he was on the back of some great beast shaped like a town instead.
It would prove impossible to find a source of this no matter how he walked around and none of the humans in the area seemed to register it at all.
When it got dark, the town gradually went quiet as its inhabitants went to bed, yet in one of the small parks, a solitary woman sat, with long blonde hair and a figure hugging gold dress. It seemed a bit dangerous for her to be there, but she was anyway, as the hours went on, she'd be one of the only people around.

Nuru paced up and down the streets for hours. The sensations all around him both intriguing and uncomfortable. He looked high and low despite no results. Asked various people if they had seen a child by Thor's description. He lost track of time along the way and eventually found himself very alone.
Almost alone.
It took him a frustrating amount of time to notice the woman. Even longer to approach her. He was here on business, not pleasure after all. Her gaudy gold dress was hard to dismiss twice though and he drew near but looked down and kept his distance, trying not to startle her.
"...Ey... Miss? Ya seen a kiddo aroun' hea?"

The woman looked up at Nuru and smiled. Her eyes were strange and equally golden, meeting them was uncomfortable to say the least and felt oddly invasive. She did not seem upset to see him and in fact it was questionable if she had known he was there even before he spoke.
"There are many children in this place." she said. "You will need to be more specific than that."

His gaze shifted even further downward, basically anywhere but directly at her. He rubbed the back of his head with one hand and held the other out to indicate Thor's general height. "About dis tall... Black hair... Eyes da color o mine... Wearin a piggeh on his shirt... Had a piggeh toy?..."
It was rather clear she was not an ordinary woman at this point... That he was sure of. But what she was and her role in all this was well beyond his comprehension... Assuming she had one.

"No." she said. "We have never had a child like that here." And there was a flash of something a little dangerous in her look.
"Why are you looking for them?"

Nuru started to inch backwards with uncertainty. "Ah... Well... Someone took dem away... Someone ah tink dat mean him harm if ah didn come."
He lifted his gaze at her finally, reddish brown eyes curiously scanning her face and flinching slightly at what he saw. "Ya wouldn know annehting about dat would you?"

"Actually. I would." she said, and her voice was equal parts cold and terrible.
"You are chasing the shadow of a duke little demon and he has delivered you here for his own nefarious ends. But I am quicker and he and you are too late."
She rose to stand and taller than she seemed at first glance she narrowed her eyes at him. "You have heard of Thor where you come from?" and he was given a critical look.
"Or are you of Invidia's gaggle of nightmares?"

"Ehhh... Ya mus be mistaken. Mah kiddo was a lil normal humany boyo..." He decided not to confirm his name but did look awfully confused upon hearing it. He glanced around finding it to be very much just them. No witnesses, good to know.

She laughed then and though the sound was pleasant and almost melodic there was at the same time something cold and false about the sound. "He was not. You were chasing a shadow, a looming and very evil shadow but one which has no power here. I am the very opposite, the one set against the very sin you seek to serve."
"You were under the sway of the duke of gluttony and he sent you here to kill someone, someone who now will remain safe, unharmed and in the care of heaven, where they belong."
A hand with fingernails painted gold, long and perfect, was raised to point at Nuru. "The boy you were chasing was but a shape of the duke of gluttony."

"Ah onleh came ta rescue. Not kill," Nuru snarled and bared his teeth which were suddenly a lot sharper than they were moments ago. "Who are ya annehweh? Why were ya waitin foa me?"

"You would have resulted in the death of someone significant and ignorance is not an excuse. Your own folly brought you here but now you are here and you must leave before you ruin everything."
The moonlight seemed jarringly bright in the park and the streetlight nearby cast an uncanny and almost supernatural golden light across the pavement.
She did smile though, soft painted lips curling. "Put your teeth away, I waited because I knew you would come and that you must leave."
"My name is Gilda." she said.

"Don tell meh what ah will oa wont do. Ah dun murdah foa no reason." He glanced around and if what she said was true. He was either feeling Thor or her. Was she also a duke? Where was Thor anyway? He would have known he'd come - right?

"You would draw murder with you just by being here. Thor is twisted invisibly around you, you reek of him. If you were outside my territory he could appear right beside you." She kept her hand extended, only this time there was a shift of power and a deep prismatic glow seemed to radiate from deep within her ribs, shining out through her skin.
There was a sensation of severing and the loud and resonant rumble of a very, very large animal which rose until the very ground seemed to cower from it and fade away. She did not flinch at any point.
"I will tell you what you won't do." she said. "I will tell you that clearly, because right now demon, I dictate that very thing. I could dismiss you back to hell with a mere wave of a hand, but I will instead give you your chance to give your account of what happened and why you are here in this blessed place."
She narrowed her eyes slightly. "Be accurate and honest or it may be the last lie you tell."

Nuru seemed more and more confused the more she spoke. Even further as the energies shifted at what appeared to be her slightest gesture. He knew she was powerful, but to what extent he hadn't the foggiest. Was he really feeling Thor? Or was that her? A powerful illusion?
At the threat, fur bristled down his back and remained, a blue wiry shock down his spine. "Ave got no idea whatchu on bout." At least he was honest, though not the smartest.
"Someone took mah kiddo. Treatened ta hurt him if ah didn come hea. Ah promis'd ahd protect him. Try to find him famileh. Ah dun get how ya jump from dat ta me killin someone. Dat de exact opposite of what ah wan." He pointed down at the ground with an exaggerated gesture.
"Foa all ah know ya lyin an ya da wan dat took him. Dat ya gunna hurt da kiddo."
