⌘Personality: She is generally polite and very well-mannered, and loves to please people and will do most anything to get that acceptance-- she is much like a carpet in the way that a carpet only exists for people to step on. She does not get offended by people's harsh words towards her, only accepts them. She is easily persuaded of anything and gets caught on those ideals, not believing anything else. Much of her success as a gym leader was the confidence earned by winning battles, and people close to her building up her self-esteem. When she loses a gym battle, she is sent into a down spin that can turn dangerous to herself if not stopped early on.
She is meek, mild, and easily roped into whatever is happening around her. Her body is constantly in the state of anxiety and fear. Her muscles are always sore, and she has nightmares every night. She dies in all of them. This trauma is completely in her mind, but she retains a semi-professional appearance. After years of living a normal life with her adopted grandparents, Lotte has learned to handle herself and her fears rather well on the surface, but still submits to her internal turmoils every now and again, not that most people stick around to find out.
Due to Lotte's past, she is prone to possession by ghosts. For the most part, she has it under control. But if she is having a bad day, or she's in a particularly(read: VERY) stressed-out moment, she will be more susceptible of being taken over by a ghost. She will black out and the ghost will be in complete control of her. Usually, they only make her hurt herself, giving minor injuries, but she is in constant fear of it happening and making her hurt someone else. This has only happened twice in her life. (I want to clarify that this does not count as an 'ability' or special power, because everyone can be possessed by ghost pokemon, she is just more susceptible to the evil ones due to her background.)

⌘Family: Mother(deceased): Lotte never learned her mother's name, only calling her mother. Lotte loved her with all her heart, and knew only isolation until her mother died when Lotte was 11.
Grandmother(deceased): Ethel Delacruz adopted Lotte after seeing her surrounded by ghost Pokemon at an orphanage. She taught Lotte how to live.

⌘Life Story: The practice of mediumship was deemed a fraud ages ago, and it faded into something akin to vapor, like the spirits these practitioners were said to communicate with. One woman, so steeped in her traditions and her highly-devoted, medium way of life, could not let go of this practice, and continued to pretend for as long as she could. She claimed to be the product of a long line of spirit mediums, but lack of proof caused no one to listen to her. When the police became involved, she fled as far from civilization as she could manage.
And there she lived, attempting to channel spirits all day and all night. She became pregnant seemingly out of nowhere(though in truth, it was a passing traveler that stayed at her house for three nights), and so firmly believed an evil spirit had impregnated her that she single-handedly tried to kill the monster growing inside of her. Her attempts failed, and Lotte erupted into the woman’s life, leaving behind a wake of chaos wherever she went. She was truly the embodiment of this malevolent spirit that had brought this upon her. The woman decided to cast her out into the woods and have the demons take her back to where she belonged, to thrive among her own kind.
But something changed her mind. Whether it was a god, or a delusion, or some sort of fortune-telling spirit, this crazy woman decided to keep her child, and pass along her trade. Her fraudulent trade, though she very much believed it to be credible. They moved back into the city, and from that moment on, Lotte was taught to lie and manipulate by pretend to conjure and communicate with spirits-- specifically evil ones. From the day she was able to understand simple commands, her mother taught her everything there was to know about channeling. She was very old-fashioned and superstitious, and it was passed onto her daughter.
Her mother convinced her that if she was bad, or weak, she would be possessed. This instilled fear in the small girl for the rest of her life. She was always on her best behavior and always did her teachings and daily prayers. Through the power of suggestion that had enraptured her mother, Lotte started to believe she could actually act as a vessel for spirits. She would often black out when she was "opening her spirit," and this, her mother told her, was because she had great spiritual power. Power, that when correctly harnessed, could be more powerful than all her ancestors. She worked towards this every day, but this "power" her mother spoke of always tended to elude her.
As soon as she was born, Lotte attracted ghost Pokemon. They would always swarm around her. Her mother never had any Pokemon and she wasn't educated on them; so to her they were just lost spirits that needed guiding. When her mother went to town to get candles, incense or other supplies, Lotte would try to help them in any way she could. They liked her, and Lotte began to believe they were her own guardians spirits. Life continued on.
Lotte watched her mother die when she was eleven; the woman suddenly went into convulsions. What was really a deadly seizure, the young girl mistook for a possession. Her mother had done something bad, and an evil spirit took her away. The girl had almost never left her home unsupervised, and when she tried to get help, nobody, especially not the authorities, believed her. She was taken by child protective services, into an orphanage, and eventually into the home of two very loving people, the adoptive parents of several "socially uninclined" children. They were a more caring, patient, passionate couple than anyone the average person would ever meet in their lifetime. Here, Lotte was comfortable and happy, and began to realize what a neglectful parent her mother was, and how she spent her life training in something that was fake.
But soon, her ghost friends found her. They tracked her down in Lumiose and dropped by every once in a while to say hello. Lotte was ecstatic to see them again, but her adoptive parents were intolerant, and shooed them out of the house whenever they got too close to Lotte. She got tired of never getting to spend any time with her friends, and only remembers waking up to the limp body of her adoptive mother, her husband standing in shock. A Yamask hovered in the corner of her eye. Lotte was immediately thrown into juvenile hall for assault, though she has no memories of it. The only joy and acceptance she had ever experienced had now ended.
After what seemed like months in foster care, an old couple decided to adopt Lotte. They walked into the agency, took one look at the disheveled child, and took her home the same day. The couple she became indebted to turned out to be the Cave of Origin's protectors, standing watch and praying day in and day out. They were deeply steeped in tradition, and helped Lotte adjust to society patiently through a daily prayer routine. This calmed her spirits, and the spirits of what she learned were the ghost Pokemon always surrounding her. This could never repair the damage that had been done to her in her adolescence, but soon she learned to live at peace. Her grandmother, as the older woman requested to be called, went deep into the Cave of Origin every morning, and sometimes snuck Lotte in to pray as well. The cave drawings awed the girl every time, and what they portrayed made her feel so small. The images made her breath catch, and they have burned into her memory since.
Lotte is older now, and her grandmother has since passed away, leaving behind her quiet husband, who busies himself with work around their house. She has taken over the morning prayers, and has been entrusted with the permission to enter the Cave of Origin. Over time, she earned the trust of the townspeople, and trained with them to become the gym leader of the Sootopolis Gym, though she had never attempted to battle with Pokemon before. She has a small, but strong, team of highly loyal Pokemon that fight with their all during every battle. Later on, she was transferred to Kalos where she now runs a gym in Laverre City. A familiar Yamask always nearby, watching.
