⌘Personality: Having been born amongst several other brothers and sisters, Raine boasts a sociable personality that often makes him well-liked amongst others. Setting aside the usual traits one would expect from a boy his age (somewhat reckless, excited, energetic, and curious) he is eager to take on challenges that others might deem too difficult.
Raine keeps a good company around himself. He is kind and respectful, and is known to be relatively trusting unless he can visibly notice something awry. Constant reminders from his family have taught him to think through situations, that every problem has a solution. He takes on challenges with this mindset. He is a fairly optimistic character, bringing about an aura of vibrancy and joy when he is near. Others find him to be magnetic, but his (few) enemies find him to be insufferable. Raine specifically targets those people who have hidden themselves away within their shells, and works to bring them out. He thrives off of seeing his friends work to their fullest extent.
In terms of his habits, Raine is extremely orderly- a trait that is opposed by the somewhat cluttered state of his room. He is willing to intervene in fights that are not his if he specifically notices that somewhat is in need of help, which has often led him to minor injuries in the past. As he gets older, he recognizes how to pick his battles. His mentality as a trainer is still maturing as he learns more from every gym or fellow trainer he encounters. He is a fast learner that pays close attention to details, which results from his hyper observant nature.
Raine loosely follows a set of values and morals that he learns. He possesses a very progressive attitude, one that emphasizes change and progress in the world where he sees stagnation. He feels that Team Void certainly is going the wrong way about it.

⌘Life Story: It was to Raine's luck that he was born into the warm environment of the Shiba family household. With a ten person family, not a single peaceful day passed within their large, towering, askew house. He was born to Kelley Shiba (a craftsman who was famous for his incredible firework creations that were often purchased by major companies), and Minverva Shiba (a tirelessly working business tycoon who runs their current firework company). Both parents were often occupied with their trade, Kelley making the products that Minerva would have to sell through her own clever business tactics. They were the perfect team, and their happiness brought about a positive atmosphere to the household. Their household, a large countryside homestead home that has had several annexes added on to the structure to accommodate extra bedrooms, was located just off of Vaniville Pathway. The workshop shed has been known to be set on fire multiple times through Kelley's various firework test runs. While the Shiba parents worked, Imogene (their stout and loving nursemaid) looked after the children.
Born the fifth out of eight children, Raine often found that the attention he received was given mostly by Imogene. He was closest to Damian, June, Mallory, and Margot out of his siblings- but found that even they were preoccupied amongst themselves. He helped where he could around the house, proving to be extremely useful in helping Imogene with her tasks. As he grew, Raine began to understand that a great deal of his accomplishments would be dwarfed out by the accomplishments of his older siblings. His older sister, Gionna, became a famous actress (and moved to Lumiose City). His brother Damian became a successful Gym Leader, and the remainder of his older siblings were either off starting their lives as trainers or were taking up apprenticeship in Kelley's craft. Raine had big dreams to follow in the steps of his older siblings. He, too, wanted to make a bigger name for himself.
When Raine was seven years old, Imogene was diagnosed with a major illness. Rendered bedridden, Imogene's lack of presence around the house became noticeable. Raine was mortified that he might lose her, for with every visit from the doctor, he would overhear that her condition was only getting worse. He resorted to reckless behavior, acting out on his frustrations by causing trouble around the house. He became very reluctant to help, and would only show favor to Imogene even against the requests of his own parents. When the doctor expressed she'd have little time left to live, Raine decided he would take matters into his own hands. Frustrated, he packed together belongings and ventured out along the path to find 'the legendary Pokemon' as he said it, hoping it would possess the power to heal Imogene as it did to others in her many bedtime tales. He had absolutely no idea where he was going, and as a result, strayed completely from the proper path without even realizing it. His travels brought him to an open grassland, where he witnessed a little Tyrogue attempting to take on a Tauros. For such a small Pokemon, the Tyrogue was exceptionally aggressive and foolish, especially for taking on a Tauros. In a matter of seconds Tyrogue was butted by the Tauros and rendered injured. Raine, equally as foolish for a child, rushed to the Tyrogue's aid- only to be trampled by the Tauros. It was the Tyrogue that attracted the attention of a passerby trainer to come and help Raine receive medical assistance. By unofficial means, that Tyrogue (or "Milo" as he was nicknamed) became Raine's very first Pokemon.
Raine was picked up by his parents, and they were shocked to find that he had befriended the Tyrogue. The tradition of the family was that each member that intended to become a trainer was to start off with a grass-type, as a nod to their ancestors. Raine became the only one of his generation who had accidentally broke that tradition. His parents brought him home, and Imogene had Raine promise he'd never attempt to do that again. Over time, she recovered from her illness- but retired as the family nursemaid and lives in the neighboring cottage as their close family friend. The following months and years involved hours of playtime with Milo, and since the house was filled with playful children, Milo was never dissatisfied. When Damian, Raine's older brother, began his training to become a Gym Leader- he allowed Raine and Milo to train with him. Raine started training and capturing Pokemon when he was nine, learning from his older siblings. . While he never ventured out to travel alone, he visited various cities with his siblings (especially Gionna, who's rising stardom called for many visits from the family). Raine chose his official grass Pokemon to keep with traditions, a Treecko egg, once he turned ten years old.
Tensions in the family came about when Gionna expressed interest in Team Void. Her own involvements as a celebrity pulled her into the world of Team Void's close-knit circle. Her firm belief that Team Void can bring about a new generation coerced her to enlist both herself and her Pokemon. To her horror, her beautiful Roserade had been contorted into a horrendous creature. Gionna started an active public opposition group to Team Void, but she along with many members of the group "mysteriously disappeared". A threat was sent to the Shiba family that should any of her relatives act out, Gionna would be silenced forever. This set within Raine the concrete resolve that he would want to save his sister.
Having just recently turned thirteen, Raine is finally ready to venture out on his own. Having befriended Izanagi, whom Raine decided would be his traveling partner, the two wished to start an active force to put a stop to Team Void's terror-ridden regime forever.
