He always packed light. He moved too often, usually stayed in hotels, and was not a angel of personal affects. What he did treasure was kept in his apartment away from the human world and prying eyes as there was too much a risk of having some civilian happening upon other worldly things. Doing enough cleanup he knew of the consequences of unsecured paraphernalia from above and below.
His belongings could all fit in one suitcase and a laptop bag. Clothes for business and casual occasions to appear more in the norm with the current age (until he saw store windows showing he was out of date of course to which he always had to go through the regrettable business of shopping.) For work, he had his laptop and chargers. The only other thing he had was what took up a good big of space. A very large radio for picking up high frequency signals and a pair of headphones. That was all he owned.
It was easy to pack, but for once, he was going not to another place to check in, sign his alias name and then to another hotel.
This was all very strange.
Upon the address given, he stood outside a very plane door and stared at it a good while, thinking over and over "What AM I doing?" before he took a breathe. It was just a short stay.
And he knocked.

Lawrence had made himself absolutely at home in Rodney's house, indulging in the novel business of living like a human. When Melvin knocked he was sitting on the couch watching television ( the news to be precise ) Butch was curled happily on the chair next to him, his huge head laid in his lap, making a sad little whine when his master got up to answer the door.
Opening it up he beamed at the angel with perfect pearly white teeth. "Welcome!" he said brightly. "Wonderful to have you. Abandon coats all ye who enter here hahaha." he gestured to the living room. "Rodney will be back in a little bit, in the meantime you can leave your cases and have a seat, maybe I can interest you in something to drink?"
The huge bull terrier got up from where he was laying on the couch and let out a low woof of irritation and curiosity as he made his way over to try and invasively sniff Melvin's personals as a means of saying hello.

Melvin pressed his lips into a low groan at the joke, glancing up above the door frame as if he could see the words written upon some intimidating gates. Glancing back, he tried to be as welcoming back as he was indeed a guest to someone's home. "Thank you. I hope I'm not interrupting anything important."
Stepping in, he shut the door behind him, before looking about for a place to set his case out of the way. Setting them beside the shoes, he was left with his hands free and not knowing what to do with them.
That was until the dog came over and he pressed his hands out to shield himself from having his personal parts invaded by a wet nose of the dog. "Oh....you have a dog." He said, trying to pressing the dog away from him without getting bitten.

"Try an animal shelter. Rodney runs one." Lawrence said with a smirk, sloping off back to the couch without calling off the eager and slobbering animal. "He's not a dog though. I don't know what he is. And he's not mine either." Though around his neck he had a collar with a name tag and address. The address stated "The Living Room, Rodney's House" followed by the Appleton address of the house. On the other side was a sigil, one that would be familiar to Melvin as Invidia's from the files he'd been given.
"Not interrupting anything but the news." he said. "Human's worry about some weird things."
"His name is Butch." Lawrence said and the mention of the dog's name seemed enough to finally call him off of bothering Melvin, wandering back to also hop up on the couch where he'd been prior. "Come have a seat, was your journey all right?"

Melvin had lowered himself to block the dog, looking at the collar that hung from his neck for an identifier to see if it was Rodney's pet. The dog tags that chimed turned and he saw the insignia that he had seen on the folder (which he had been smart enough to leave at his apartment before coming here.)
"I see. He seems to be taking a liking to you though." He did wonder why Lawr would do such an outright lie, and wondered if the demon was deliberately trying to ******** with him. Then again, if Lawr assumed Melvin was a ignorant angel who didn't know who he was, then he wouldn't think to hide any of that information. It just seemed too messy though and the dog's tags should have been hidden to keep anyone passing by from noticing it.
What was his game?
"A animal shelter? I suppose that makes me another stray." He said, trying to lighten the mood more for his sake of being in the house with the demon. He was here. He was really doing this. He was placing himself directly in the demon's path.
Moving, he found a chair and sat down, placing his hands in his lap. "Oh, it was no trouble. I use a updated GPS on my phone for my job to get around unfamiliar cities. It's one of the better things human's have created with technology. It's amazing how a city can be so similar yet differ in design from region to region." He looked over at the TV with interest. "Anything suspicious on the news?"

"Very handsome stray though, I'd adopt you." Lawrence said with a grin. "And he does like me, I've not been able to get rid of him in thousands of years so I just stopped trying. He's mostly friendly."
He listened curiously about the GPS, always interested in what new things the humans had come up with. "I think I'd get lost if I didn't go places with Rodney. I feel like I know places but I can never be sure at all about anything. It's all very hazy you understand."
He looked at the news. "Mostly talking about some new park they are opening in the city. It's the local news now. The national was nothing special either. Fear. Fear and paranoia mostly, so not suspicious. There is a new movie coming out about demonic possession though, sounds interesting, we could go see if it you like, I'm sure it would be a laugh."
Looking the angel over, he smiled. "All you angels are so nice I like it."

Melvin pressed his lips thin a little. "Well, I wouldn't generalize. There are some....tough angels who are less .....tactful." That was the only polite way to say it, and he didn't like speaking ill of his comrades. "But I believe we all try to better ourselves and uphold our shared values.
He looked back to the news, interested but glad nothing too alarming was being reported. Usually he could shift on what was normal and what might hint on some report that had passed his way. Considering it was local news, he was far less familiar with anything, having yet to place himself in the system of paperwork and officials to keep watch over the network of information.
"I haven't been to any movies." He mentioned as he continued to watch the television before looking back at Lawr and his clearly-connected familiar. Dogs did not live for thousands of years.
"Why is everything hazy? Did you hurt yourself somehow?" He asked, looking at Butch and back to Lawr.

"I know who you mean hahah. I don't remember their names but I know who they are. Big helmet, lots of lightning, loud voice." He did an almost perfect imitation of Mrost's voice, down to the intonation. "Kill the lot of them." He smiled. "I know horrible angels and demons exist, I'm just fortunate to not remember the specifics." And he didn't want to, strongly suspecting that if he had the full image of who he was it would change his ability to stay on the moral high ground, dragged back to the low ground where he belonged.
"I don't remember anything." he said. "I just found myself in a newsagents and then here I am. Well, I remember some things. Just nothing specific, bits and pieces, like finding little snapshots and notes to do with strangers. I know you, but I don't know you. I know you are harmless and that is reassuring."

Melvin had to stare at Lawr for even doing any semblance of a imitation of Mrost and he looked around as if the angel himself would show up to scold him for being present for such a display. Despite his own unfounded paranoia, he covered his mouth to quell the noise that was threatening to bubble up. He really shouldn't laugh at his superiors. He really should, but no one he had been around had made such a bold display to mock them.
The amusing show was soon suffocated by Lawr looking at him, saying he knew him. "You....know me? I don't exactly think i'd be the type for anyone to remember, let alone a demon." He wasn't a duke, a general, or anyone of high standing to be considering a treat to a demon or a angel of high regard to other angels. Why would Lawr know him?
"I suppose that is a good thing then. I don't want to make you uncomfortable in your own home. That goes for Rodney too. I'm your guest, and thankful for it." He turned back to the dog and then back to Lawr.
"I...." He paused. ".....I don't know if this is being forward, but how DID you even wind up here with Rodney. I thought most demons would avoid angels out of self preservation?" Then again, the same went for angels avoiding demons, and yet here Rodney was inviting Lawr, a DUKE, to his home.
And dating no less.

Lawrence nodded. "I do know you. I don't know why I know you. I tend to know a lot of people. It could be wrong, I don't question it at this point, I just go with my hunches for the most part."
At the question he shrugged. "Your guess is as good as mine frankly. Like I say, I ended up here and was about to get into a bit of a conflict with a shopkeeper and Rodney rescued me. I've been sticking around him since, he seems to be somewhat safe. I'm not afraid of angels though. I don't think I'm afraid of anything."

"I suppose if you don't question it, I won't either." Though he did worry about it. What could possible be worth a mental snapshot with him in it?
He returned to looking at the television. "He's a good man." Was all Melvin could say about Rodney's blind charity to others, including demons.
His hands touched his watch, but he did not turn it to look at it. He wondered when Rodney would be returning. His list of discussion topics were very limited.

"What's the point in questioning it really?" he said with a shrug. "It doesn't make anything better or make me remember things. Everything just feels like hunches. I barely remember my Name. Maybe its better this way, everyone else seems so stressed out around me, running around living their lives, trying to earn money, meddling in plots, spying on people. It just seems like a lot of work and maybe I'm better off outside of it."
Lawrence turned his attention back to Melvin. "So what is it you do?" he asked. "What's your virtue? Who do you work for?"

It was strange to hear a demon not embracing his SIN and what is represented. In fact, he seemed to want to stand outside of it and place distance between himself, and he had to wonder why? Was he tired? Could a Duke be tired or was he just playing innocent and harmless in front of a demon and keeping his cards close to his chest? It was still too early to guess his game.
"Oh.....I'm a servant of diligence. I do odd jobs, but usually public relations and paper pushing. Documentation to quiet worries of this world." He pressed out a wrinkle on his slacks. "I don't work for anyone in particular. Just whoever needs work done. Usually I get contacted one way or another." Work was work after all.
He looked forward again before looking back to him. "What do you do or...like to do? Do you remember what kind of Sin you align with?"

"Hah. Diligence. That's a lot of work right?" Diligence was certainly not a virtue he had in any significant amount, sprawled as he was on the couch doing nothing at all other than what he wanted. "Paper pushing, public relations. Sounds like a lot of talking to humans."
He smirked "I think you work for Tracey." Of course he didn't know who that actually was, it was just another hunch with some unconnected word attached but he hoped it would unnerve Melvin a bit.
"I like to try new things." he said. "So I think maybe Envy. But who knows. Maybe Sloth."

"I think any division would be a lot of work, but yes we typically do take on many jobs and many hats." Such as the mission he was on now. "I have to interact with humans daily. It keeps me up to date on current norms and procedures and also with any concerns or events that might arise that need to be explained away. It's not all that bad once you know the avenues you need to go to get a result." He smoothed out another wrinkle in his slacks before he stiffened at Tracey's name.
"I....am not too much an expert to give my opinion on which type. Your guess is, as always, as good as mine. I think overall you are doing fine without causing any attention to yourself, which is good in my book." And he hoped would stay that way until he decided to drop the act and go back home. Hopefully.
Looking about, he tried looking for a wall clock. "So....where did Rodney go again?"
