The good thing about her experience was that it was getting easier and easier to make her way into Other Ashdown. Autumn was still of the mind that when you had a need to go, the other world opened itself up to you. Perhaps not how you expected, but in the way you needed it. The sky was grey and dreary as ever, and in a way, it was comforting. The familiarity of the odd world was... typical to her, now. She smiled, despite the body-aching weariness she simply couldn't shake, as she headed in the direction of the forest. Heliodora's demense was that way, meaning Pax was probably there, too.
"Pax?" She called aloud, careful to step lightly and quietly through the woods. No need to attract undue attention. All she really needed was to find her friend.

Pax was nearby. Pax was always nearby, except when it wasn't, which was rarely. Still, today, it was nearby, and the moment its ever-crawling green eyes settled on Autumn it warped shapes, expanding out, pulling back in, and reshaping itself into its humanoid form. Its flowers were dying down for the winter now, vines curling their leaves in for the long rest. "Autumn," it said, stepping closer, fussing over the young woman. Its hands fluttered nervously before it settled on something to do. It tugged off its heavy cable-knit sweater and draped it over her shoulders. "You are here. I didn't think you'd come!" Its diction had improved greatly, or maybe it was just that this place was… better, for it. "I thought you were hiding."

Wrapped in her own exhaustion, Autumn did not think about nor comprehend the change in her friend's breath support. Rather, her brain stuck on the fact that she had been hiding? It took Autumn a moment for her to figure out the context of what had set off this conclusion, but when it finally clicked, Autumn laughed. "Oh. Oh I'm so sorry, baby! I forgot you kind of don't. Follow human technology." She shook her head, bemused. "I moved in with Zac, and we have a new apartment. So I'm not at the old place anymore." ...Had Pax shown up at the old apartment? Oh god. That had to be a fun one for the new tenant. Hey, have a new apartment! And a deer being that just shows up! The mental image was ******** hilarious. "I'll show you the new place sometime, I promise." But leisure, unfortunately, wasn't why she was here. There wasn't quite an apt category to cover her issue. Magical s**t, maybe? But it didn't seem very tactful for the time and place. "I need your help though, Pax. I'm kind of worried." She looked down to her hands, as though she were upset the answers weren't written on her palms. "My magic... Feels like it's draining me. I'm exhausted, and I can't shake it." Autumn bit her lip and looked back to Pax. "Am I okay?"

Pax paused, frowned, and leaned in closer to Autumn. All six of its eyes, including the two that seemed to be makeup more than true eyes, focused on her face. Carefully, it took Autumn's hands in its own, and held them for a moment. "You have been using your magic too much," it said, finally. "Exhausting your core without enough time to rest. How often have you been healing?"

"Oh. Well. Chalk that up to another one I didn't realize," Autumn mumbled to herself, wincing inwardly. Of COURSE there was a cap to it. She wasn't drinking some.. magical health juice or whatever, like Zelda did in... Zelda. Whatever his potion was, Autumn just didn't have it.
Mental note to self: Work on a potion to keep magic restored? Or something? Second Mental note: consult Zac about what kind of potion Zelda uses in his games.
"Um. Kind of a lot, honestly? Not super big, but I did a LOT of healing after the moonwalkers and the rogue ones. Uh. And a few birds. Here and there. A lot."
Autumn gave Pax a sheepish smile. The deer was definitely as much her tutor as much as they were her friend.
"...Sorry?"

Pax smiled at Autumn. "Don't be sorry. You didn't know." It patted her shoulders, very gently. "Powers change. It's part of growing."

Autumn nodded, glad for Pax's lack of anger. It was... nice. Not getting in trouble for ******** up while she was learning.
"So what can I do? Or should I do, I guess?"

Pax tapped its fingers to its lips, thinking. "It is a growth. Please be careful, rest. Drink apple cider and honey, one to one. It will be very sweet. And when you feel stronger, you will come back to me. We will discover how to work with this." It smiled at Autumn again. "You will be okay. I am confident in you."

Apple cider and honey? Ugh. That sounded nasty-a**, no getting around it. Keeping the frown off her face, Autumn nodded at Pax. It would suck, but... she would do it.
"Thanks, Pax. I'll visit more often, too. I promise." She rubbed her face gently, trying not to sigh.
"And uh. I'll come see you again when I work this out, okay?"

Pax nodded, the flowers in its antlers rustling with the motion. Then it leaned down to kiss the place where Autumn had rubbed, a quick little peck. "Take human medicine for headaches and many naps," it added. "I will be here. Always."
