lesser sabbat
i have a few kingstone documents that describe the sabbats in ways i both like and am indifferent about. kingstone docs present are public property as far as i know.
This is a time of equality of God and Goddess, a balance of the forces of nature and of man and woman. the energy tide reverses and goes outward from the earth. all around the feeling of spring prevails, from new grass beneath our feet to the sweet clean smell of the air. the joining of mankind with nature at this festival is easily accomplished with the land renewed around us. this is an impulsive time, when we feel compelled to take action. the environment poses situations that need response. keep your head clear and let your actions be well thought out. the focus is on self-renewal and building self-love and self-confidence. here we plant the seed of our desires
the one i prefer is in an essay called wheel of the year by julia phillips and matthew sandow
this essay describes the phases of the earth and god/goddess/ in much more human and relative terms than i've ever seen
*a small explaination of the previous sabbat, it was a woman's celebration, this one being a man's more than a woman's. wiccan beliefs are not the typical pagan, though you would think they were.*
...it isnot until teh spring equinox that the initiatory male rite is inacted. in this we arm the young god with teh knowledge of his own creative power; he is initiated into teh mysteries of sex, jsut as the young girl was armed with teh powers of her potential. this ritual expresses the mystery that he contains in his young life; the potential to become a father and a wise old man. day and night are equal, both man and woman are awakened to their sexuality, and light from here foreward shall dominate the dark.
the comparison of this essay to actual life cycle is great, and relates to the religious god and goddess aspects more than tot he earth and personal aspects. the ritual should have bothe elements in it, the god/goddess/ and the self.
i was lucky enough to be eclectic for 8 years before coming across trad coven, which was more open minded than most, and gave us postualtes reign to find our own ways of worship, with a small area of specified ritual and belief.
anyways, you're open to ask, discuss, or ignore, i just htought i'd put ot bos doc for this section and time of year.
