With whatever money he made from the divorce that wasn't immediately sent back to his kids, Alcott got a house that he could be comfortable in. A log cabin design, one he'd always been fond of, and with a nice, large fireplace. Of course, there's really nothing else to do with the fireplace since there's no one to spend it with than get drunk and toss junk mail and painful photos into it.

If you're not here to learn then you're not worth my time.
It was a quiet ride. Alcott didn't seem to be bothered by the fact that Sawyer had to drive them this time, though that wasn't necessarily a good thing considering the distant look on his face. He felt awkward. He always hated having to explain that he wasn't human to people, but now he had to explain that he was this. Pursing his lips in a tight frown, he rubbed his neck, practically feeling the brand against his fingers. When they got to his house Alcott let his long legs carry him to the front door before opening it and waiting for Sawyer to come in. He wasn't wearing his costume anymore.
Get out before I make you get out.

Sawyer Loupohl ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦To Sawyer, the quiet ride's tension was just too awkward. He couldn't stand it. Before he knew it, they were at Alcott's place again and he was inside. He didn't even know he was out of the car yet. Once inside, Sawyer silently moved over to the couch, leaning on the back and sliding his hands into his pockets, looking at Alcott expectantly. " Well?" he finally said. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

"Well, I was never human to begin with," Alcott began slowly as he made his way to Sawyer, sitting down beside him. "My father was an angel, and my mother was a demon. The kinds that, you know, look like ordinary people so they can be influences on people like you. When my brother and I were born we had wings, these things you see as my tattoo," he said while pointing a thumb over his shoulder to his large tattoo. "These were supposed to be real wings, but about ten years ago I lost them when another soul entered my body. It's the, uh, soul of Pride, one of those seven sins." This time he pointed to the brand. He felt like an idiot, like someone that was trying to talk about their fanfiction. "Apparently, the Sins exist, and people serve as hosts for them. The guy in charge of, uh, picking hosts wanted me to hold Pride, but that was mainly because he wanted my brother to be Greed. That part I get." He stopped to take a deep breath then gave Sawyer an unsure look. "I didn't lose you, did I..." He was sure he did. He was never good at explaining things about his personal life.

Sawyer Loupohl ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦Not a word was spoken by Sawyer during the entire speech. He stared at the floor, his lips pursed in thought. After Alcott finished with his tale, the blonde still didn't speak. He was thinking, his mind trying to wrap around what had just been told to him. A few minutes later, he leaned back, crossed his arms, and sighed through his nose. " I can't believe Nikolai didn't tell me there was a new Pride and Greed." He chuckled, then looked over to Alcott with a smirk. " Back when I was still with my ex, I was good friends with Leon and Nikolai and I've kept in touch, especially since Parker's dating their son. I'll have to complain next week at brunch that they haven't been keeping me up to speed." He leaned over, kissing Alcott's cheek before standing and stretching. " Why don't I make us some coffee?" ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

Alcott blinked then quickly grabbed Sawyer's arms. "Wait, you know them?" he asked in surprise. He let go and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "I've known Nikolai for a while because we'd always teach in the same school. I don't keep up with them much, but I didn't know they'd gotten so social." Part of him wanted to assume that everything that happened leading to today, from meeting Sawyer and dating him, was planned by that lazy Sin. He could already see Nikolai grinning to himself over how his plan went accordingly. It made him clench his fist in anger. "Wait, Aysun's... That was their Aysun?" Alcott suddenly realized. He thought back to the slim male that relentlessly flirted with him, grinning so cheekily. Yeah, that was definitely Nikolai's kid. The fact that his son was flirting with him... it gave Alcott troubling flashbacks. With a sigh, the Sin looked over at Sawyer, giving him a relieved smile. "Yeah, that sounds great. Uh, wait real quick," he said and grabbed Sawyer's wrist before he could leave. "How are you handling this so well? I mean, you've got to know something about non-humans since you know the Courts, but..." He drifted off, trying to find the right words.
Get out before I make you get out.

Sawyer Loupohl ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦" It's not the most shocking thing I've been told," shrugged Sawyer before leaning down to press a kiss to the teacher's lips. He pulled away after a short while, standing upright. " If you're a Sin, then that's what you are. I can't change that. I like you anyway. At any rate, you're way better than the last Pride. She was the biggest pain in the a-s. Every time I got up to get something, she would bet she could get to it faster, then she'd spent hours standing in front of a mirror, any mirror, admiring herself. Lemme tell you, Leon's Sin barbecue idea was short-lived for a good reason." He leaned down, setting his elbows on the back of the couch. " Did you want me to freak out more?" he asked. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

Alcott blinked as the last Pride was talked about. He could hear Pride talking in his head about how great the last host was, trying to make him feel bad. In a sense it did, but not as much as the Sin wanted. "I'm more or less a temporary until they find someone fitting it just right," Alcott said. "Mainly because I don't listen to Pride as much, so he can't talk me into doing dumb sh-t." He looked at Sawyer again when asked about his reaction, blushing a little. "I-I don't know. Maybe...?" he shrugged. He sure didn't expect him to be so casual about it!

Sawyer Loupohl ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦" Then you're going to have to try a little harder," he teased, ruffling Alcott's hair before moving away again. He stepped into the kitchen, fumbling around a bit for what he needed, but eventually finding all the ingredients needed. " How do you take it?" asked Sawyer in reference to the coffee. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

His hair ruffled, Alcott was left alone in the living room with his dumbfounded look. He had yet to see Sawyer surprised since he met him. He was... kind of tempted to try and scare him. Shaken out of his thoughts by the lawyer's questions, he answered, "Just a little milk and cream. Barely any, really." He'd never seen him angry either...

Sawyer Loupohl ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦Taking his coffee black, Sawyer prepped Alcott while sipping his own, carrying the two mugs out to the teacher and handing Alcott's out. " Let me know if I put too much in," he said, sipping his own. He hadn't always liked his coffee black. Years of working in the office had developed his tastes to the more time-efficient sugar-free coffee. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

Alcott sighed and wiped his forehead with his forearm while putting a hand towel over his shoulder. He had just about everything cooked. Now all he had to do was wait for the roast. Look at him, making a five star, homemade meal. Not very manly, but damn if he made the greatest food ever! He looked at the table, the candles lit around them, grimacing lightly. This was a contradiction to Pride. It wasn't manly, but he wanted to do this better than anyone else. At least it confused the Sin enough to render him silent. It left Alcott to his thoughts, most of which revolved around Sawyer's reaction to this. The lawyer had been the one to do he biggest work lately, so he wanted to make it up. Give him the pleasant surprise for once. He didn't hold back, either. He read through cookbooks, called Gluttony (and nearly had his ears melted off) and Greed (hung up after calling him an idiot), and bought the finest ingredients. Who said he couldn't be romantic?

Sawyer Loupohl ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦Standing outside the door, Sawyer took a deep breath. He held a box in one hand, his gift for Alcott, as well as a way to apologize. He looked down the hall, knowing that he could still run away and reschedule, but he knew this had to be done. At least they didn't have love in the way. They hadn't been together long enough to say that to each other. Still... He didn't want to do this. Remembering the feeling of Cecil in his arms, Sawyer steeled his will and knocked twice before opening the door. "Alcott?" he called. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

Alcott looked towards the door and brightened when he saw who it was. "Hey, you're early," he smiled. He strode across the room and kissed the lawyer on the cheek before noticing the gift. "What's that? Did you find time to get me something again?" He laughed lightly and waved towards the dining room. "And here I was, sure to surprise you for once with some home cooking. I even picked up your favorite wine. You're expensive, by the way," he joked while going to the kitchen for said wine. "How's Parker, by the way? Did you manage to help him? I wish I could've gone, but there's nothing I would've been able to do to help." Pride burned him for saying that, but he was in too much in a good mood to help himself.

Sawyer Loupohl ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦His cheek burned at the kiss, walking inside and going into the dining room. "What, this? It's your Christmas present," he said, setting it on the table and wondering to himself whether or not to wait until after dinner to tell him the news. Oh God, he's a terrible person. Should he just come out with it? Maybe he should stick with Alcott for a little longer. Besides, he wasn't going to see Cecil for another week, he needed time to do this. He knew that was stupid. "Alcott." Standing, Sawyer went over to the Sin and took his hand, raising it to his lips and kissing gently. "I want you to open your gift now," he said quietly. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦
