k, now for the return of ME! yes yes.
Last year i was very depressed because of this holiday's changes amoung the ages. we have turned a holiday that was ment to be a day of remembrance of jesus christ's death into a day that worships fluffy bunnies, colored eggs, and chocolate. We don't believe that we are worshipers of idols but i think different. now that it has become accustome to pall along to our children the lie that there is an "easter bunny" and that that is who brings them the basket of chocolate each easter then our children are too focused on the candy and the idolosation of this dumb fake rabbit.
Now, i do believe we can make it work while still keeping some of the traditions. Easter egg dieing for example, in a wiccan tradition they die the eggs red to symbolise fertility. well, i believe that a dying of the eggs could symbolise the death of christ if we dye them red. and our being the ones to enforce this process a symbol that we are who made it happen. add a little red whine to the red die and you have his blood. now, you can hide them if you must still do that as sort of a seeking for the true meaning. but i probobly wouldn't do that. and as such you can after all of the dying, make something like eggsalad sandwiches so that the bread would symbolise his body and the whole thing could be like a very intense comunion.
to keep alive the story, the myth, if you will, you could tell youre kids of how this holiday that has been turned around is celebrated by most and tell them the different myths of the dumb bunny.
there's the bell, i'll be back...

I like Robin Williams' theory on why we have the easter bunny and chocolate eggs.
You really don't want to go spooning raspberry jelly into the yard and tell the kids "Okay guys lets go find Jesus". And you really cant have creme filled crucifixes...
....that would be rather phallic wouldn't it?
Anyways, of course Easter has lost some of it's value. All of the holidays have. Christmas is all about presents now, easter is about egg laying bunnies, and halloween is strictly candy (I saw no scary costumes in the last 3 years. And nobody I ask, other than on Gaia, know the real reason behind Halloween)
But yeah, it's not just Easter...its all the holidays.

Almost every religion on Earth celebrates using some Pagan traditions. The christmas tree is Pagan, dying eggs is Pagan. This doesn't however make these practices wrong. It is not the religion's fault that Easter is merely another day to stuff our already obese children with candy. It's the people's fault. They've gotten lazy and don't remember the real meaning behind Easter or any holiday for that matter. About 60% of Americans claim to be Christian, the the majority don't go to church, pray regularily (or at all) or know the significant meanings to many of the holidays...

actually, a wish can be a prayer. a prayer doesn't even really need to be directed to anyone in particular, but many people have practiced directing them to whatever dieties they believe in

yeah, effective prayer, spell work, wishes, whatever, should have much less deity involved and much more intent on healing on outcome...
instead of please god make me pretty or please god end his suffering... i am pretty, i am pretty... he is healed, he is healed...
and realise that perhaps karma simply cannot allow what you want to happen... you could make him live, but is he supposed to? you could be beautiful, but is that what you need in this life to complete your tasks?

yeah, even a true prayer to god should not be made with intent on him granting whatever. it's just recognition to the spirit and the sharings of what you care about. it should never be selfish.

Alyce_Alianora Many Holidays have turned in to big shopping comercial fest and have lost much of there meaning....business use them to make extra sales.....and it is only getting worst....the only thing that you can control is how you look at the holidays Yep that is the problem with most capitalist societies, the holidays have turned into more “how much profit can we make from a Jesus playing I wish it could be Christmas every day on a saxophone?” Rather than lets celebrate our beliefs behind this holiday without cashing in on tasteless novelties. I like my holidays simple and to the point thanks smile lol

I hate easter. When I was little, I obviously didn't know that it was about Jesus, I was never even told it was about Jesus, I was always told about the bunny and candy and crap like that. I believe lying to your kids is wrong, like the whole santa and easter bunny thing. I think, nowadays, the 'tradition,' it is a stupid pointless holiday. I wish people would remember the real reason for holidays, rather then material and superficial 'meanings.' I bet if you asked 10 kindergardeners what is easter, they will tell you about the easter bunny, nothing about jesus.
