[Right after Daily Grind: Mara finds Hexxis]

Hexxis had already been flipping the pages of the first aid book quickly as she walked, already know how many steps it took to get where she was going and she didn't even look up. She moved straight to the room they had been staying in and opened the door, still seeing Zephyr on the bed where she last left him. She threw down her bag and book as she pulled the first aid kit close and began to use the supplies on him to bandage anything remaining on him before stripping off her jacket and dress, wincing as her clothes peeled from dried blood. She began to try to give herself first aid, sitting on the floor next to the bed. She would have to wait for him to wake up so she could talk to him about what had transpired that day. She exhaled shakily and just rested sideways against the bed as she slid a hand up to place on Zephyr's, humming to herself, the song Ashral used to hum, just something to keep her uneasy mind off the headmate she had just lost. Her other hand pulled her bag closer as she fished out another book. Darn, she didn't get to grab the last book she wanted. She then began to read about tracking as she tried to figure out the best way to find Ashral again. She wasn't sure about Oblivion, he seemed to have known about Ashral, which, worried her a bit. But after spending so much time with the both of them, she was unsure of such malicious intents. Though, it was never certain with malices. She would have to ask Zephyr. Maybe he knew. She sighed and rested her head on the edge of the bed as she hummed and felt regret and guilt setting in deep for almost everything she had done up until this point. The only thing she didn't regret, however, was meeting Zephyr. She definitely didn't regret the time she had spent with him, and honestly might have done it all again despite all of the illogical components to her actions.

Zephyr had been fast asleep, recovering from the horrific experience that was becoming separated with the headmate that he had shared his mind and body with for practically his entire life. The ordeal had left him pretty shaken, having quickly devolved into smoking more frequently to numb the pain of the emptiness that he now felt, though he was drinking at his usual pace as he felt that would make things worse. The day after the entire thing, he had taken on several missions to try and get back into the flow of things, only to be hurt by a handful of them as his mind was wandering in the emptiness of his head. It was strange, not having someone to talk to, not having someone looking out as you focused on something so intently that you forgot to listen for soft footfalls. It was going to take him a long time before he could accept everything that had happened, his body finally his again for the first time in almost thirty years.

As he continued to sleep soundly on the bed, shirtless and patched up by Hexxis, the demon seemed as peaceful as he could be in a state of a fractured body and mind. Though, as Hexxis had started to him, the tune weaving through his own subconscious and luring the tune out of an echo of Oblivion, he started to mumble-sing.

"...was once a cat, that spoke to me one day..... chaos and disarray....to find a place called Eden, where the flowers were always blooming.." he mumbled, still fairly asleep, though starting to slowly wake up.

As the words came, her mind felt at ease, almost not realizing who had been singing quietly as she sang the words reflexively, "There was once a dog... who walked to a lonely place... covered with a haze of fog..." she had been paying too close attention to the book that she hadn't noticed herself singing until she had a sudden annoyed look in her eye.

'Ashral st-..'

She paused. No, she wasn't there anymore.

She looked up from her book and looked at Zephyr, just squeezing his hand. He knew that song too. She had already begun to piece together who Oblivion really was. "...shogu.." she whispered. Hexxis didn't know whether it would be good or bad for Oblivion Shogu to find Ashral first or not. All the more reason she should find her as soon as possible to better regulate the situation. In the meantime, she needed to assess things with Zephyr.

She frowned and sighed. "Zephyr..." she spoke softly as he had seemed to be waking up now. "I have important information that I need to discuss with you."

Muttering something in his sleep, he made a pained noise as he moved to sit up, his eyes still closed, soon rubbing them with his free hand as a sword-shaped locket hung around his neck. "Mmnm...what is it?" he asked before yawning wide, looking like s**t as usual. His back was still pretty scratched up from the split, though it didn't help that he got several bullet wounds from a couple missions he had taken on the day after that. "Or can I get some coffee before we talk about important stuff?" as he asked, Zephyr ran both hands through his hair, which stuck back as he pushed it back, his hair a little on the greasy side as he hadn't taken a shower the past two nights as the wounds were still fresh and painful, though he knew he had to shower soon.

Hexxis stayed sitting on the floor, looking up at him. The glint of a new piece of jewelry catching her eye as her expression softened with a faint smile. Turning her attention back to his face she spoke softly through her usual robotic voice, "That is probably advisable. The equivalent of telling one to sit down so they may brace for impactful news." she sighed and closed her book then pushed herself to a stand. She picked up the phone next to the bed and ordered for room service to bring coffee and breakfast to the room. She set down the phone and waited, moving to put back on her dress and jacket before a knock was heard at the door. Hexxis made her way over to the door and retrieved the items from the attendant and moved over to Zephry, setting the tray next to the bed and handing over the coffee to him, letting him at least get some sips in before starting in with her information.

"My grandmother's facility was transferred to this city and I had the coincidence of running into her." she paused, looking away with a sigh. "She made me speak with my father over the phone and he wants to meet you." she returned her gaze to him, "He is not fond of mercenaries and my family does not seem to be taking my new profession well. My grandmother would like me to return to my previous ownership with SIU." she frowned. "I am... conflicted."

Downing a good half of the coffee, not even caring that it was scalding hot, Zephyr let out a quiet sigh as he set down the mug back onto the tray before looking over to Hexxis. As she started to talk, he watched her movements, her motions, the usual thing he would have to keep track of if he were wanting to read her emotions if they were out in public. She seemed uneasy, unsure, and anxious. "Well.." Zephyr started, moving to reach to take another sip of coffee, wanting to make sure he was going to word things just right.

"Well, you're your own person. We can go and meet up with them, I can speak to your father..." he paused before laughing a little, "Gods, it sounds like I'm about to meet in-laws or something like I'm going to be your boyfriend." he chuckled a bit more as he looked over to Hexxis, trying to lighten the mood.

She sat on the edge of the bed, her hand reflexively gripping the blankets as she looked to the floor in thought. "I desire to find a way to make this all work. A cohesive way of life. Though, the probability of that is very low." she exhaled completely. As he mentioned meeting in-laws and being her boyfriend she looked to him. "That is not necessary. It is true that I love you, and you are very important component to my life, I do not desire what others would consider as a relationship between and boyfriend and girlfriend. I don't feel comfortable with such things. But rest assured that you still hold a very special place in my heart. Which is why I am so determined to make this work somehow." she smiled faintly at him as it quickly faded into her usual blank expression. "Mara suggested I cease my occupation as a mercenary and return to SIU with her. Despite such words, I would only truly consider that option if she were to command me to do so or if Tri was able to return as well. Which is where my conflict arises. I simply cannot leave you. That is not an option. This is where my contention originates." she laid down, just resting her head in his lap. "I do not know what is the correct course of action and that is something that is a source of apprehension." she seemed to almost be rambling now, "Zephyr, what can I do to keep you both in my life with minimal conflict?"
PostPosted: Sun May 29, 2016 4:17 pm

Zephyr couldn't help but smile, pleased that they were at least on the same ground when it came to their relationship, as that was something that had never really come up yet - and he didn't want to drag her along, making her think that they were headed into a relationship proper. He had done that with Sono and it just never worked out, so finding out that they were so similar, in that mindset, was a relief. As Hexxis went on, he just continued to watch her, smiling a bit as she smiled, though as she laid her head in his lap, he placed a hand on her head, slowly running his fingers through her hair as he sipped on his coffee, trying to think. It was a difficult question, one that he couldn't actually find a way to make things work. SIU was one of the major things out there, and he knew that because of all the information he had gather over time, and he was a little uneasy on letting her go back to them so freely, but if it was what she wanted, then it was what she wanted.

Taking in a short breath, he let it out before leaning down and kissing Hexxis' forehead, tip of her nose, then her lips and hovering for a moment and sitting up again, making a noise of pain as he did so as his back moved in a way that agitated the wounds. "Well, you're not going to like my answer. I don't know what you can do to keep both with minimal conflict," he paused, taking a sip of his coffee, soon finishing it and setting it back on the tray, "I do enjoy being with you, fighting with you, just..existing next to you, but if things go in a way where you feel as though you must leave me - then you follow that path. I'm not your keeper, the person to keep you tied up and bound in a way that forces you along a strict path without consent. You're your own person, you're you - and that's what makes you important to me. I don't ever want you to lose yourself." Zephyr smiled a bit, soon running both hands through her hair, "What I'd like.. for you, is for you to be happy in some capacity. If it means leaving me, then you follow it. You're your own keeper, Hexxis."

She smiled faintly, a bit more than she had before as he kissed her. Though, a glimmer of concern washed over her face as he made a noise of pain. She listened to what he had to say, committing his words to her memory as she analyzed it all. All too similar words from her brother, melding the two together to try to find a better way to understand such requests to merely live her life. It was true, that is what easier to follow the directions of others than to make those commands for herself. It went against everything she had been influenced to be, to merely act on feelings and emotions, things she had very shaky grasp on understanding.

She nodded as he finished his words. "Understood." she responded, noting that she would have to consider what he said in her decision for what she should choose to do with this life she was expected to live without command or order to guide her. "I told him that we could meet in a few days time. Unless you feel we should meet him sooner." she reached up a hand to touch his face lightly and smiled. "Also it may be imperative to decide a place to meet him. Considering he has a warrant much like my own. Stolen property of SIU. He will likely be unable to enter the city undetected. Possibly something less populated on the edge of town would be preferable. Do you know any place that fits this description?"

"A few more days will give me just enough time to recover..as for the location.." he let out a soft sigh, moving one of his hands to hold hers that was against his face. That was more difficult, more so as they were in the mercenary hub of the place. "I know of a vacant safe house just outside the city limits. I sometimes go there if need a place to go to wait for the heat to die down..we could go there?" Zephyr suggested, shrugging a little bit and reaching for the mug of coffee, only to be disappointed when it was empty.

Hexxis seemed to smile more as he placed his hand on hers, closing her eyes to just listen to his voice. She nodded as he agreed to a few more days. "Preferable.." she whispered, too soft to hear the monotone nature of her voice, reaching up to take off her eye patch and trace along the bruising that still remained with her free hand and frowned. "He would not be happy about this.." she sighed, and opened both her eyes to look at him. "Yes, that will be acceptable. If you give me the address, I will text him the location with date and time." she offered, moving to pull her phone out of her pocket, removing her hand from his face slowly, putting in the number Tri had given her from earlier into the phone. She paused, "Your words.. earlier... my brother told me something very similar before I chose to leave. I had brought to his attention that I was feeling excess of emotions past my conditioning from experimentation. I told him I had no reason to be angry and yet I felt things that could be considered as such." she sighed, "He told me that cracking my conditioning was good. He tried to tell me that I was a person and not a weapon, even though I still do not understand that reasoning. He told me I was supposed to experience all of those emotions good or bad... Since then, I have felt more and more emotions, yet I feel more conflicted as I find myself out of the boundaries in which I had been programmed to feel." she paused and looked to Zephyr. "I apologize, I think I feel so conflicted about these recent developments that it is causing me to continue on aimlessly. I did not intend that." she smiled at him. "Let us find you more coffee, maybe this once, I can drink some as well." she seemed like she was about to laugh but she didn't.

"It's [address], just outside town, a small gray house." Zephyr stated, though after that, he just went back to watching and listening to her, his heart aching a bit to see her like this. It had been so strange, seeing her so conflicted. "Hexxis, you don't have to say sorry for how you feel. I know it may seem strange, being how you were raised and you can't help it, but if there's one thing I'd like to do before we ever part ways, is to help you figure out more about yourself. I may not have been as..rigorous as you are in following and complying to orders, but I was decently similar. It just sort of...hurts seeing someone I love as much as you being in this sort of predicament where you're unsure on what you're experiencing is good or bad," he took in a breath, thinking for a moment as he went to run his hands through her hair again after he had set down the mug, wanting to braid her hair. "I know emotions are something that don't come as easily to you as they do me, as I've been traveling around for awhile now, but you will never have to apologize for your emotions. If it helps, I think you're doing a wonderful job of experiencing emotions, I'm just..worried about you." he let out a soft sigh, "I do wish to ask you for something." he waited a moment for her to inquire before continuing.

"I would..honestly like it if you didn't use that one power you used on me the other day... I know you were trying to save me, but please.. I don't want you to do that for me again."

She texted the address, description of the house, date and time. She put her phone away and she listened to what Zephyr said, as she always hung on every word. She narrowed her eyes, glints of pain in them as she stared straight into his eyes. "We will not part. That I will never allow as long as you still wish to have me around." she interjected suddenly.. "I wish I knew the difference between these emotions as they still make no sense to me and it causes concern at times as it the source of very illogical reasoning and actions. Such as the events that occurred yesterday."

She smiled again as he told her she was doing a good job of experiencing emotions and she nodded. Though, he had a question, as she looked at him with intrigue, before dropping into a pained look as he asked her to not use her wound transferal power on him again. She wanted to ask why as she did not understand the request at first, but slowly she began to comprehend why though a loose grasp of the concept. "Understood. I will not use it on you again." she paused as thought for a moment. "As such, can I request that you be more careful in missions... No, I would like to go with you. You do not wish for me to take missions alone and I come to feel the same for you. As partners, I would prefer if we stay together. Is this something that you can oblige?"
PostPosted: Mon May 30, 2016 4:26 am

Zephyr smiled a little bit, adjusting how he was positioned ever so slightly so he could lean back, "Yeah - I actually..wanted to ask if you wanted to go in and do a team-id. The harder part will be qualifying as a team that is about the same rank that we are solo.. so we're actually going to have to work on that a bit more. Teams - more so the high ranked ones - can work..as..well as he and I did. Honestly, he was one of the reasons why I was at a high ranking myself, we worked in tandem because we had been headmates for almost thirty years, and I'm just...failing at some things because I can't remember a time when I didn't have him sharing my body." He let out a soft sigh and closed his eyes.

It hurt, not just physically, but emotionally and mentally, to be so alone. His body felt hollow, empty, almost like it wasn't his own. It was strange, he never thought that he would miss his Malice that much.

Hexxis nodded, "I understand that I may not be an equivalent replacement for someone you spent so long sharing your thoughts with, I have a fraction of understanding with that, having been attached to Ashral for almost a decade. Though, our relationship was only in tandem this past month when my brother made a deal with her to cease tormenting me and refrain from further attempts to kill our father." she sighed, "Their relationship was of the variety I could not understand and my brother had suggested I had been jealous of them. Perhaps I had been, I would not know. It felt very similar to how I feel when I see you in intimate contact with others, yet the results of those perceptions are far different than I would with my brother as I do with you. Again, things I do not understand." Closing her eyes she for a moment to think she let him braid her hair, a calming feeling as she relaxed at his gently touch. "However, I would still desire greatly to take an examination to become a team."

She opened her eyes, narrowed in deep thought, "There is information that I have kept from you. It was necessary to withhold at the time, but I am aware that it is now imperative that I tell you. Before I left my family, my father gave me explicit instructions to avoid you. Specifically retreat prioritized over engaging, given access levels up to five should I need to combat you. I am very confident that he will not be pleased to hear that I disobeyed those orders to directly seek you out. I.... wanted you to be aware of that." she looked away frowning, "And I apologize that I had never informed you of my malice before. It was out of safety that you did not have that knowledge. Nonetheless, I must locate her before my brother discovers that she is gone. He will search for her and may compromise himself and his life to reach her. I cannot let her hurt either of them."
