Willa remained composed, listening to every little detail Aria gives her concerning Mikaela.
“Bled all over the place?” Willa thought. She was pulled from her thoughts when Aria spoke as though there were two people in the room, minus Aria. “Scared? Oh sh**.” Willa thought. She knew regardless what happened, she needs to know the truth whether bad or just plain worst.
“Fine by me. I appreciate it” Willa replied as Aria grabbed her hand. Most people, whom are not used to Shadow traveling would be unstable and a bit light headed from the experience, but not Willa. She experienced it a lot before, so wasn’t new to her at all. A moment later, they stood in the living room of Willa’s apartment. Everything remained the same and not out of place. Why would it be since she is the only one who lives there? Slowly, Willa pulled her hand away, grabbing her wounded hand.
“I will attend to this while you make yourself comfortable. Feel free to sit on the couch if you like. I will be right back.” Willa calmly replied before heading upstairs to the bathroom. She took her time walking up the stair. She wouldn’t want to have the same incident with stairs again. As she walked into her bathroom, she looked under her cabinet sink. After a few times moving stuff around, she found a white box that read “FIRST AID.” She placed it on top of her sink, opening it up to notice some gauze, medicine, bandages, peroxide, antibiotics cream, etc. Willa grabbed some of the peroxide, leaned her wounded hand over the sink as she gradually poured it on her knuckles. As it bubbled, Willa gave a quick face, seeing as it stings before she wiped the blood away with the gauze. She applied antibiotics to it before placing bandages on it and wrapped it up, but not too tightly.
“That should help with infection.” Willa thought as she closed the first aid and placed it back under the sink. She made her way down the stairs and into the kitchen. She opened the fridge to find a gallon of sweet tea she brew this morning and some homemade chocolate chip cookies she did last night. There was a plate full since she wanted to save it for the next day. She took the plate of cookies out of the fridge and placed it on the kitchen counter. She then grabbed the gallon of tea and also placed it on the counter. She grabbed some cups from the cabinet beside the fridge as well as a large, silver tray. She placed the gallon of tea, the two cups and the plate of cookies on the tray before walking towards Aria with it, placing it in front of her on the glass coffee counter.
“It’s not much, but help yourself to some sweet tea and homemade cookies. It’s the least I can do. Plus, I’m sure you must be hungry and thirsty.” Willa calmly replied, before sitting herself down on her couch. Willa’s face soon became serious. She didn’t want to know, but she had to ask or else she will never know. She slightly sighed.
“Aria, please be honest with me. I need know every detail what he…I mean Mikaela did.” Willa calmly replied. It was hard saying the name since what it means to her. “If you’re worried I will run off again, I won’t. I just need to know everything he did and every word he said. Leave nothing out, please.” Willa kept herself together, knowing whatever Aria saids, she must remain calm.

Aria watched Willa walk away to go treat her scrapped up knuckles. She walked over to the couch and sat down, looking around. It was a nice apartment. She had considered staying in one a year or two after she finished fixing up the mall and getting the gang more organized, but decided against it. She would rather stay at headquarters and be there in case something happened
It wasn't long before Willa came back with tea and cookies. She grabbed the glass and took a couple sips. "Thank you. This will do," she said, giving her a small smile. There wasn't a chance for diner with everything that happened, but she would be fine for one night. One night of cookies for diner isn't going to kill me, she thought, picking up a cookie and taking a small bite. They were pretty good, even if it wasn't exactly diner food.
She watched as Willa's face went from nervous to serious. She wasn't surprised that the information she gave to her earlier wasn't enough. She quickly swallow the piece of cookie she had been chewing on. "I don't remember everything he said. He blamed me for your fall, ran away to a club. Siren's Song I think. They were closed so the only person he scared with your blood covered face was the owner.I don't know what he said to him before I got there, but he was on the ground about to pass out when I found him. I brought him back to headquarters and he told me why you freaked out. I wouldn't have said it if I had known. Or at least not in the way I did. After that he started getting angry and punched the wall a few times. I think it was something he remembered. Then you came back. Sorry if that isn't detailed enough." She finished her cookie and drank her tea while she waited for Willa to process the information.

Aria finished her explanation pertaining to Mikaela as Willa’s expression became neutral. Usually her reaction is fear with her mind in shambles, but in this case it’s different. Unusual even for Willa as her eyes slowly stared down at her knees. This odd behavior of hers most likely will worry Aria. It was if the light in her eyes fade away, the cold, emptiness vibe. It became clear no sort of comfort or persuasion would snap her out of this comatose state. For a while, she remained that way. Perhaps it’s her method of processing the information she received from Aria. It seemed as an hour has passed, when really only two minutes. Just when all hope was lost, something in her mind clicked. Her demeanor changed. Slowly, her eyes stared back at Aria. Without saying a word, she stood up from the couch. Slowly, Willa paced the floor, her eyes staring at the ground. Slightly, she touched her bottom lip. She used her other hand to signal to Aria to ensure she is fine as she continued to pace the floor. After a moment, she stopped, her back facing Aria.
“He’s alive.” She mumbled under breath, but enough for Aria to possibly hear it. The silence in her mind became filled with reinsurance. Slowly, she turned to face Aria.
“I have to find him.” She replied as she began to search around the room with excitement on her face.
"Surely, he must have left me a clue.” She thought. Willa convinced herself that Mikaela survived all these years, even though that wasn’t the case. Perhaps the blow to her head caused confusion to her bruised mind. She began to tear the apartment apart searching in random places in such a fast pace. It was like she lost her mind in that moment.
“He’s alive.” Willa repeatedly said. As she looked, she kept mumbling random things under her breath, but loud enough for people to hear.
“Mikaela, please help me to find you. I need to see you, brother.” Willa pleaded, continuing to search for clues. Someone needs to knock some sense into Willa.

Aria silently watched Willa process the information, but grew concerned as she continued to remain silent. The vacant look in her eyes was also worrying. She tentatively placed a hand on her shoulder. "Willa?" She asked, quietly. She was startled when Willa looked at her with vacant eyes and stood up. She had no idea what was happening. Was it something I said? Is this normal after having an episode? She couldn't recall any time she had similar behavior. Warily, she watched her pace around the room. She tensed, when Willa stopped suddenly and couldn't stopped the look of confusion that came across her face when she said he was alive. Who was alive? She watched her silently as she tore about her apartment, trying to figure out what was going through her mind. Is she talking about her brother? I didn't say anything that would make her think he was alive. Her question was eventually answered as Willa continued to search. So, it is her brother she thinks is alive. Do I tell her? I don't want her to get more agitated, but it can't be good for her to continue like this.
Sighing, Aria got up and walked over to Willa. She grabbed her shoulder and forced her to face her. "Willa. I don't know where you got this idea from. I did not say anything about your brother being alive. If you are confusing the Mikeala that lives in your mind for you brother you need to stop. He is not your brother. They just have the same name." She tried to keep her voice calm and reassuring and made sure her grip on Willa was strong incase she tried to runaway again. She wasn't about to have a repeat on the stair incident again.

Willa felt herself being turned around by Aria. She remained out of it. “I need to see him, please.” She pleaded. A moment later, she snapped back into reality.
“Wait…what’s happening?” Willow thought. A bit disorientated, her eyes looked around the room. The place she always kept neat and tidy was now a disaster.
“Oh god…” She whispered. Her attention remained at the mess in the room, almost missing what Aria said. She heard Mikaela’s name mentioned, immediately looking back at Aria. All this was because of him.
“Sorry. Dunno what I was thinking…” Willa paused in the middle of her sentence as her head began to hurt. “I need to sit.” She calmly replied. Gently, she touched Aria’s arm, moving it away, but not to be rude.
“It’s fine. I won’t break.” She tried to reinsure her before making her way to the couch. Due to the mess she made all over the floor, she had to tip toe through the empty spots that did not have stuff there. Last thing she needs is another injury. Finally, she got to the couch sitting down as she leaned forward. Her hands gradually ran through her hair, staying in that position where the pain hurts. Willa made sure her facial expression did not worry Aria. She has done enough of that already. Again, her mind wondered, but this time, it was different. She thought of Mikaela…the real Mikaela and her last memory of him. She remembered how he presented himself: cold and confident. He feared no one especially his captors. He often mocked them with his usual sarcastic remarks. His punishment, of course was being severally beaten for it, but yet he managed to always smile in front of Willa. I guess his way to show her to stay strong. He volunteered to take punishment meant for her so she wouldn’t suffer the pain, but yet, Willa was forced to watch by her captors.
He’d always looked back at her during his punishment, mouthing “Soon…” to her. At the time, Willa did not understood what he meant, unaware Mikaela “had plans” for her escape, not his. Mikaela knew he will die in this place, but he didn’t care. He wanted her safe, more importantly, free. Willa was unaware of this until the night it happened. She remembered the warmth of his skin as his arms wrapped around her gently rubbing the top of her head. And his smile, oh his smile. He was at peace, knowing the end of her suffering is finally here.
“Don’t fret…” He said. “Keep moving. I’m right beside you, always…” His last words before…a sharp pain from her head made her snapped out of her thought.
“Why can I never find the truth?” Willa thought. One thing for sure… “No more running” She thought. The pain continued to bother her. Perhaps forcing her mind to remember plus a head injury is enough for one night. Speaking of night….Her eyes looked at her window and sure enough it was night.
“When did it become night?” She calmly asked, mostly telling herself that, but spoke out loud instead. Her eyes looked back at Aria. No doubt, she is mostly confused and concern over her bizarre behavior. Finally, she spoke,
“I’m fine now.” She lied, but said it anyways. “A lot has happened.” She paused, thinking what else to say next to not worry her.
“Despite all that has happened, in a weird way this is a breakthrough.” Again, she paused. “The Mikaela inside me is not my brother. I know that now. I guess I had hoped he was.” She paused, taking a moment before speaking again.
“I can’t run from this anymore, Aria. I hid the truth inside me for so long, I’m giving him power over my life. I can’t allow that anymore…” Willa paused as she realized something.
“Then again he is a person as well. He is only trying to exist as well. Perhaps I’m going about this the wrong way by keeping him down. I should embrace him. He has every right to live just as much as I do. Why should I deny him that right?” Willa replied, feeling good about herself right now. It looks as though she finally understood what she needs to do next.
“I gotta keep digging. I need to know what he knows.” She paused. Her eyes happened to stare at the floor again. “But First, I need clean this mess.” She replied as she stood up from the couch and began to clean the mess.

Aria was relieved to see Willa snap out of it. She followed her to the couch, ready to catch her incase she collapsed or tripped. It might have been a bit paranoid of her, but she was feeling out of her depth with everything that happened. I need to find a better way to help her. I haven't done enough to make sure she's okay. She wasn't one to baby her members, but she liked to try and help them if she could. Especially if it was something she could do just by learning a bit more and being there in case they needed someone to lean on. I guess I should start by reading up more on her condition. They might have information on treatments. Though a professional would be better, she thought.
She focused back on her when it seemed like the girl was done collecting herself. Patiently, she let her talk and work through her thoughts. She stopped her from cleaning through. "Don't worry about that right now. It can wait till tomorrow. You've had a rough day."
"I'm glad you have decided how to handle this, but you should rest. You'll be able to think better after some sleep anyway." It would also give her time to think of some ways to help her learn about Mikaela's memories. "Though if you want to clean I will stay and help you." She added the last part after glancing around and taking in the mess.

“She means well.” Willa told herself that as Aria stopped her from cleaning. She held back a sigh. “Rough day?” Wrong choice in words, but it will due for now. As Aria finished, Willa returned to cleaning, her back towards her.
“Hardly the time to rest, Aria.” She replied, her voice a bit firm, but not harsh. She felt sleepy, but forced her eyes to remain open. She needed answers now. Tired or not it had to be done tonight.
“No need. I’m fine, thanks.” Willa paused, her words becoming sluggish.
“You should go and get some sleep.” She replied. Suddenly, her eyes noticed something out of place. Her favorite book, End of All Days by Leona Pariah was also on the messy floor. How is it here? That book has always been in her bedroom on top of her desk. It never goes anywhere. She picked it up to find a letter. Without warning, she stood up.
“It’s from Mikaela.” Willa softly replied as she read it out loud for Aria to hear.
“Hello Love, I’d hoped you found this letter on your own, but knowing you, probably had a nervous break down, made a mess in the room and happen to find it on the floor like a careless idiot that you are. No offense…”
“Really...?” Willa sighed as she continued to read.
“Relax, I only kid. Don’t be so uptight. Find some humor in life otherwise you’ll end up bitter and alone…”
“Is there a point to this letter?” Willa thought as she read on.
“I took it upon myself to research more on “our condition” and I found a book on it. I kept hidden inside the floor board under your bed. You’re welcome. There is not much material as I am no expert on this sort of thing, but it’s a start. Take the time to look through it and should you find more information on it, I will look forward to reading it in your next journal entry…
“Now, there is another thing I need to discuss with you. Willa, I’ve done something, something bad. I thought I was doing right by you. I made sure they suffered in the most brutal way possible. I thought you will never have to worry about your past ever again. I was wrong. While I searched for answers concerning our condition, I discovered that your captors had friends. I only know of their existence. I do not know their names or their appearance. All I know is they are out for revenge. I thought you should know of the danger that is to come should you encounter them. Please try not getting both of us killed. My life is linked to yours. If you die, I die. I don’t know about you, but I don’t plan on dying anytime soon. Do keep that in mind. Good luck, love.”
Willa paused, staring at the last paragraph.
He killed them, my captors. And now, I have enemies that I know nothing about. She thought.
“This is bad, really bad.” Willa replied, realizing she said it out loud. She turned to face Aria.
“This is my burden. I would never forgive myself if people got hurt or died because of me.” Willa paused for a moment before she spoke again. “It’s best for the group if I just leave. They know me. They don’t know of you. I’ll pack my things and head out tonight. As my friend, please don’t try to stop me, Aria.” She replied. Her eyes slightly began to water before walking away to the bedroom to pack her things.

All I ever wanted was to make the smiles real. I felt that was worth the hurt and time it took to heal. ______________________________________________
It was times like this Aria contemplated the use of mild violence to persuade friends. After all, it was usually times like these that people would slap their friends for saying something so stupid. That wasn't like her though and she wasn't about to change. Instead, she took a few moments to rein in her frustration before addressing the issue. I need sleep? You can hardly talk without slurring your words. Not to mention I have patrol like usual, she thought, while letting out a deep sigh.
She was about to tell Willa to sleep again when she suddenly stood up. Quickly, she followed suit. She couldn't control the involuntary eye twitch at hearing Mikeala's name again. The frustration from dealing with him earlier was still there and she didn't have any hope that this letter would relieve that.
She was mildly surprised by its contents. It was nice to know he was doing research to help them. She wasn't surprised to hear that there were people looking for them. That was the case for most people in the gang. The fact that he killed the others was more surprising than anything.
Willa's reaction was not what Aria was expecting. She wants to leave? Just like that? She followed after her and watched her start to gather her things. She can't be serious.
"Willa. Stop for a moment and listen to me," she said, coming into the room. "If you want to leave I'm not going to stop you, but I'm not going to accept some rash decision either. Most of the gang ran from people who wanted to enslave them or people who did enslave them. The purpose of The Eternal Dark is so all of them don't have to run forever. I'm not afraid of slavers coming here and I won't stand by and let them hurt anyone who choses to stay here with me." She had to pause and take a deep breath. Today was stressful and she didn't want to end up shouting at Willa trying to make her point. She gave her a sad smile. "If you're worried about others getting hurt that's okay. But do you honestly think that they are going to come here looking for you, find a bunch a other fetchlings and just leave us be? Do you think those type of people would just ignore us in favor of you? Or that they wouldn't come back later?"
Squaring her shoulders, she stopped smiling. "If you do decide to leave. Then you will have to do just that. Leave. Not only the gang, but the city. You are my friend, but I have others to protect and I can't let you run around and cause problems here. I promised everyone I would be there for them and I can't push that aside. So, if you want to face this on your own that's fine. I wish you the best of luck. Just remember its okay to stay. And if they do come then that's fine. The whole gang will be there. Just like they would be for anyone else. So, think about it before you decide, cause you won't be able to just come back like everything is fine."

It had to be done. She can’t endanger anyone for her past discretion. Though her memory of that night remained a bit hazy for the most part, she can’t run from it any longer.
Terminate the problem is the only option. Willa thought to herself. She pulled out her huge suitcase from her closet and placed on top of her bed. She collected most of her clothes in such a short time when Aria approached her.
Why am I not surprised she wouldn’t abide by my wishes? She thought. She gave out a deep sigh as she turned to face her.
“Fine.” She replied, moving her suitcase a bit as she sat down on the bed. Her eyes stared at Aria. She knew that either way, she had to leave. Nothing she will say will change that. Her persistence to follow grew tiresome after the few times she done so. Nevertheless, she can’t be infuriated.
“Given if our situation was in reverse, I might have done the same thing.” Her thoughts were pulled away as she listened to Aria’s speech. All her opinions and feeling at that moment faded away. Willa’s blank reaction was obvious. How can she respond? Would anything even match that of Aria’s speech? She tried to find the words, but nothing came to mind. This was a tough call. She knows if she stayed, their fate will be damned as hers. On the other hand, she was right. These savages won’t blink twice before slaughtering or enslave all the fetchlings. Either way, someone will get hurt. She can’t stop that. No matter what she does, both decisions will still have the same outcome: Search, Destroy and Enslave. Still, she needed to answer. Her mind was pessimistic. Her instinct, however, was always the best bet. Not once has it failed her in almost 300 years. Why doubt it now? Finally, she had an answer after a moment of silence.
“I’ll stay.” She paused. In many ways, the group saved her. She was on the verge of madness had it not been finding them. For now, her humanity was spared.
“I can’t abandon my family. I have nothing left after that.” She calmly replied. Willa knew she made the right call, but there was one more thing she needed to address. “I can’t lose control of myself again.” She replied, as she stood up, gently touched Aria’s hand.
“Please help me with this.” Willa paused, finding it difficult to say the last part. “Do what is necessary to stop me should I become a problem. If there is no other choice and no hope to save me, I want you to be the one to destroy me. Promise me, Aria.”

All I ever wanted was to make the smiles real. I felt that was worth the hurt and time it took to heal. ______________________________________________
Aria watched her think it over. She hoped she would listen and at least think it over before making a rash decision. Even if she didn't give her an answer tonight. After a few moments Willa responded, her words making the tension ease out of her. She was glad she chose to stay for now.
What she said next caught her off guard. Destroy her? Her brows drew together in confusion. From what she had seen Willa was more likely to hurt herself than someone else. She could see Mikeala hurting others out of aggression, but Aria already had several ways to subdue him. It wasn't an issue as far as she was concerned. Overall, there was no reason she could think of that would call for her to have to take such drastic measures.
She grabbed Willa's hand to reassure her. "I understand that you are worried, but I think you may be overestimating the damage you can cause. If you were to hurt someone, I would stop you, but I would not have to kill you. The same goes for Mikeala. You are more of a danger to yourself at this point in time, but we will get you help. So, try not to worry yourself so much and instead focus on getting better."
"Now, I need to go. Its late and I still need to patrol. You should stay here and get some rest. That goes for tomorrow, too. I don't want you working or patrolling till I know your head injury is getting better. So, stay home. I will be by tomorrow to check on you." She didn't want to leave, but she really did have to go. It was already dark and who knows what type of beast might be out tonight. "Sleep well." She said, as she made her way out of the apartment.

So though it hurt, and oh it hurt, I tore myself away. Sometimes you have to bleed before you heal enough to keep the dark at bay. ______________________________________________

Willa needed to sleep soon. Her eyes felt heavy, becoming difficult to keep them opened. She feared she would collapse from exhaustion. She was about to say something when Aria spoke first. She tried hard to listen, hearing some of her words, but understood all the same. She was not in the right mind to argue at the moment. She nodded, letting Aria know that she agreed. She was a bit ‘dramatic’ from her last reply. Aria mentioned patrolling as it clicked to her.
She completely forgot about it. It made sense due to everything that has happened today. It’s understandable that it slipped her mind on it. Still, she wanted to assist Aria on patrol, but at the same time, unable to do so. In her current condition, she would be a liability.
“Be careful out there and good night.” She calmly replied. She watched Aria leave. Once she was out of sight, Willa fell back, landing on top of her bed. For a moment, her eyes stared up towards the ceiling.
“Tomorrow will be different.” She thought to herself as her eyes closed shut. It didn’t take long before she fell fast asleep.

The sun started to rise while Willa remained asleep comfortably on her bed. As she turned to the side, the angle of the light shined through her window, causing the brightness to hit her directly in the eye. Her face squinted. She shifted herself away from it, not realizing she was already on the edge of the bed. Immediately, her eyes opened. As she rolled off the bed, both her hands instinctively came forward, taking the hit first. She was faced down on her wooded floor, feeling sore from the impact.
“Ugh.” She cried out. This was not how she expected herself to wake up. After a moment of her hands aching, she managed to pull herself up, using the bed as support. She examined her hands. Thankfully, there were no further injuries to her hands. Slowly, she walked to the restroom, her entire body sore.
“It feels as though a building collapsed on top of me.” She thought. After she was finished with her usual morning routine, she examined her head in the mirror. For the most part, there was only dried up blood.
“No more bleeding. No infections.” Still, she wanted to apply more medicine on it. It wouldn’t hurt to do so.
“I should place new bandages to my hand as well.” She thought to herself. She removed the bandages, noticing her knuckles had a slight color with little scraps. It was normal for it to be bruised. Also, there was some swelling. Though it slightly throbbed, the pain was manageable. She turned the faucet on, washing her hands with soap to clean off excess ointment before applying more on. Afterwards, she bandaged it up; making sure it wasn’t too tight. She had done the same procedure to her head, wrapping it up with bandage. It looked ridiculous, but she needed make sure the wound wouldn’t’ open up again. After she was finished, she noticed her first aid kit supply was running low.
“I need to stock up again.” She mumbled under her breath. She then had went to her closet, browsing around it
“Hm, this seems casual enough.” She replied, picking out black jean pants and a sleeveless shirt. She was careful to remove and placed new clothes on herself. Afterwards, she grabbed her socks and shoe, quickly putting them on before heading downstairs.
“Damn. I forgot the mess.” She sighed, staring at her living room. It was a disaster. She couldn’t leave this place untidy. She decided to take a moment, analyzing where each item goes before she started to clean it up. It didn’t take long for her to put everything back in the right spot. She removed the dirty dishes from the coffee table and washed them in the sink, using her other hand that wasn’t injured. Afterwards, She opened the refrigerator.
“Looks like I need groceries as well.” She sighed, closing the fridge door behind her. I guess the last grocery trip she did wasn’t a whole lot. She grabbed her purse that was hanging up on the wall next to her apartment keys. She checked inside her purse first for her wallet and cell phone before she headed out, closing and locking the door behind her.
