One thousand years ago the land was ruled by an evil creature. A creature so evil and powerful that its name was
forgotten for no one would speak it. Known simply as the '? ? ?', it lorded over every race. All the land within its
sight was its and its alone. There was no one to challenge the ? ? ?, no one to end its dark ways and bring light
back into the world. For two hundred years no one dared to raise a finger in question. Never lifted a weapon to
defend themselves. Not a single soul rallied in defense of others. Not until four souls had enough of the cycle. Four
souls from different races came together and ended the long reign of the ? ? ?. The battle was said to have lasted
one day and one night. The sun rose the next morning and light graced the lands once more. It spread like a beacon
of hope. Giving happiness back to everyone. The Four who stood against the tyrant were quickly revered as Gods
and Goddess to everyone. They united the races and brought life back to a desolate land.
For almost a century the Gods and Goddesses restored the devastated land as best they could. The ? ? ? had split
the lands and sunk most of the world, leaving only a handful of several large land masses and several small island rings.
Under the watchful eyes of their beloved deities the people of the world also helped to rebuild their ruined lands. Villages,
towns, cities, even kingdoms began to prosper once again. The land was fertile and crops grew well. Even the animals
on land, sea, and sky seemed to show a burst in life. For a short time everything was perfect. A festival was thrown every
year on the day the ? ? ? was sealed away in celebration for the end of darkness. On this day, one hundred years after
the event, the beloved Gods and Goddesses fought among each other. The argument that broke the century of peace
had been brewing from the moment the ? ? ? had been beaten.
Unknown to the general public, the ? ? ? had been sealed in one of the Goddesses. The price for peace was a curse.
One that had plagued the Cursed Goddess for a hundred years to the point of breaking. The Cursed Goddess seemed to
be slowly turning into the ? ? ? itself without realizing it. Fearing the seal keeping the ? ? ? within her was breaking she
sealed herself in a special room. She did so without consoling the other deities or even telling those who looked up to her
as a goddess. The other Goddess and the Gods argued over the Cursed Goddess's disappearance. Confusion, guilt, and
sorrow wracked them to the point that they turned on each other. Blaming one another for various reasons. Tension rose
between the remaining deities and finally snapped on the day of the festival. A once joyous occasion only brought back the
memory of the nightmarish day and night. With the Cursed Goddess no where to be found the public was also confused,
asking the remaining deities what they should do. This was the breaking point that sparked the War of the Gods.
The Goddess and Gods left fought with each other and influenced those who looked up to them. Races were split once again,
but this time by taking sides with the particular deity they loved most. Families were torn between each other, loved ones
separated, even children argued over who was right and who was wrong. The four kingdoms that had been raised from
ruins in honor the deities were now pitted against each other. However, not long after the war began that those who were
protected by the Gods and Goddesses realized who was to blame for the war. They turned on their once beloved deities.
Having gone through the reign of the ? ? ? once before they refused to ruled by tyrants once again. Ways were found to
seal away the remaining Goddess and Gods. Trapping them in elaborate seals that could possibly even hold the ? ? ? itself.
With these acts the war was ended. Without the Goddesses and Gods to lead them any more the races stood on their feet.
Determined to live their lives without any help. Hundreds of years passed and with them the memory of the Gods and Goddesses
and even the ? ? ? faded away. Life prospered without the help of any one or many god, goddess, or ? ? ?. There were
times of distress and wars of course, but none on the scale of the war of the races that ended the Gods and Goddesses reign.
Being to preoccupied with their own enjoyment or troubles all the kingdoms failed to see the shadows casting darkness over
the lands. With no one watching over the evil in the world it has begun to spread slowly through the world. Killing lush and lively
forests, turning shimmering lakes and rivers dull and mucky, even the sky seemed to turn an ominous shade of gray as clouds
begin to spread.
