If you start with scenery and drawing areas like rooms it can help you draw with perspective, I would reccomend starting there <3

It really depends on what type of illustration you want to do.
Strategies will be different for how you start a project.
yum_onigiri Gaia avi art? Profile art? Thread headers?
yum_onigiri Book / story art? Book covers?
yum_onigiri Posters? Flyers? Banners?
yum_onigiri Patterns / textiles?
yum_onigiri All of the above? xd

A good basic place to start is to research styles.
yum_strawberry Is/Are there any style(s) you will not do?
yum_strawberry What style(s) do you like?
yum_strawberry What style(s) are easy for you?
yum_strawberry What style(s) are popular? (with the clients you want to illustrate for)

Another important thing to know what image software or physical materials (or both) you plan to use, and to become comfortable using it.

The MOST important thing for any illustrator or graphic artist/designer is to know how to communicate with the people you are creating the work for.
So if nothing else, I would start with learning how to ask your clients the right questions to get the best results. 3nodding

I hope this is helpful. sweatdrop
