Health
♞ Physically - Nearing the prime of his life. Training within Wonderland has enabled Cain to hone his body to it's limits. Limits that are breaking with each passing day.
♞ Mentally - On the exterior, Cain looks to be a masterful tactician with his cool, calm demeanor but what lies beneath is a soul that is constantly at war with itself, aching to seek forgiveness or to throw it all away to end the suffering.

Occupation: Two of Spades, Man at Arms for the Royal Army

Tattoos/Scars: The iconic Spade tattoo can be found on his back with a giant scar spanning horizontally from his right shoulder to his hip through the Spade.

Skills: Swordplay, Athletic Flexibility and Agility, Keen Insight in Battle, Cooking

Weapon: Judgement - A Greatsword seen to the right.

[Blessing/Curse of the Fallen]: As in life, Abel protects his brother Cain from fatal injuries, not wanting Cain to rejoin him in the afterlife yet. However, at times Cain wishes for the cold embrace of the death, but grudgingly understands that he still must serve the Queen in Abel's place. Abel will not aid his brother while under Command: No Longer Human.

[Command: Execute]:
Cain can only use this ability upon an enemy that has already been wounded by his sword twice. Imbuing Judgement with the blood of his enemy, Cain sharpens his focus upon their vitals, striking at them with relentless fury, finishing them off with a decapitation to deliver their head to the Queen as a trophy.

Judgement can only be imbued for Execution once per day unless under the influence of Command: No Longer Human.

[Command: Aegis]: Originally a skill created by Abel. Cain rushes to an ally's side, imbuing his armor with his own blood, strengthening his defense and perception to desperately protect his companion. In this stance, Cain cannot take any offensive actions until he drops the Command.

[Command: No Longer Human]: Cain fully embraces the Madness that lingers within his body. The Madness manifests around Cain's body, enveloping his entire being in black armor. Under this Command, Cain's strength is magnified tenfold. In return, the Madness eats away at Cain's body, causing him extreme amounts of pain and injury. Cain will only activate this command as a last resort. Otherwise, the Queen may freely force Cain to use this Command and control Cain accordingly.

Command: Execute may be called upon without restriction so long as Judgement has already tasted the target's blood once.

Command: Aegis can only be used upon the Queen under the influence of Madness.

Personality: Cain generally keeps to himself if he could help it. He has never been too fond of interacting with the others. They never ended well. Regardless, Cain will not turn away from another Spade's conversation, especially if it had to do with food or battle strategies. Cain sees the others as companions, brothers and sisters in arms that all have to endure the Madness of this forsaken land. At least, that is how he feels towards most of them. There are some that rub him the wrong way that makes him want to reach for Judgement at a moment's notice.

By himself, Cain is known to be out staring at the night sky, pondering what the next day will bring; whether it be salvation or damnation. Some say that they even catch him speaking to someone, who in particular, no one can tell. Perhaps it is the Madness showing. Perhaps it is nothing at all.

Fears: Living forever in his torment.

Backstory:
Born Abel Trepinedom, but lived as the Ace of Hearts, the Shield to the Queen. Abel’s legacy started when he happened on the Rabbit Hole out of sheer curiosity, as it was with most cases. However, Abel had an obsession for adventure and followed whatever new path lay before him. It was not long before Abel ventured deep within the new, mysterious land filled with amazing new sights, as well as dangerous creatures should he step in the wrong direction.

Intruders were not welcome within the kingdom of the Hearts, as he would soon find out. The guards at the time whisked away to stand trial before the Queen. Thinking quickly, he wanted to prove himself and begged to be given the chance. Amused, the Queen obliged and arranged a duel between the young Abel, who was only 17 at the time, and the Ace of Hearts, who seemed to be much older than he. The battle was simple enough; both had a single sword and the fight would end when the other dropped dead. As morbid as it seemed, Abel was not shaken at the thought of dying. If he were to fall here, at least it was an exciting way; a warrior’s death! Or so he thought.

The Ace of Hearts looked calm, but Abel saw that deep in his eyes, he was right mad. The duel did not even start and the Ace already seemed like he was panicking. The Queen gave the signal to begin and the Ace dashed towards him in a fury. The Ace’s eyes and the sudden start startled Abel. The first blow came to his left shoulder. Had Abel been a few seconds slower, he would have been one arm short. Yet this was what Abel had been looking for all his life: excitement. A wild grin broke upon Abel’s face as he rose from the ground and took a stance. He was always interested in being a knight. Now he was able to use all that studying, all that training to good use. The Queen noticed the change in Abel and grew intrigued. Abel ended the fight shortly after his newfound resolve. The Ace was lying face down in behind Abel, the blood quickly pooling from a deep wound in his gut. To Abel’s dismay, the Ace did not seem to have any true fighting technique and resorted to his bigger size to fight. With a disgusted shake of his head, Abel impaled the sword within the ground and stood before the Queen. The rest, they say, is history.

Years had passed, both Abel and the Hearts grew. But of course good things rarely last in this life. A girl by the name of Alice happened upon the world of Wonderland just as he had years before. But instead of bringing growth and prosperity, Alice brought destruction. At least, that is what the Queen of Hearts would like others to believe. Abel was aware of how cruel the Queen of Hearts could be, but he was her knight, her Ace. He had sworn his life to her and would never turn against her, even in the darkest of predicaments. Yet Alice forged ever onward towards the Queen. Abel was one of the last obstacles in defense of the Queen. Abel looked into Alice’s eyes and was expecting to see the same Madness he had seen before in the old Ace. But he found nothing of the sort there. All he found was a strong determination and sense of justice; a look he had almost lost sight of within himself if he drew his blade against her. Sheathing his blade and walking passed her, Abel knew that his time in Wonderland was over. It was time to stop playing knight and return to the real world, where he was needed more than ever. With a heavy heart, he left the world of his beloved, but corrupted Queen and returned to Reality.
Even more time had passed since the war between Alice and the Queen of Hearts was waged. No one had seen hide nor hair of the great Ace of Hearts. Many thought he had died in the battle, others believed he was merely a myth. A legend created to tell the children and younglings of Wonderland to remind them that the Queen of Hearts was once kind, not the evil tyrant most other stories portray her as. Regardless, Abel’s story would never be forgotten. Not as long as someone spoke his name, hoping for his return to fight against the chaos.

Unfortunately, this is not the story of Abel Trepinedom. His story has long since been finished, ending with him lying in a dark alleyway, in a pool of his own blood. Abel, the once Ace of Hearts was killed by his own brother. Only a few people in the world knew of Abel’s trouble twin, Cain. For good reason as Cain was not the nicest of children growing up. Most would call Cain a “special case.” Cain claimed to hear voices, to be watched out of the corner of his eye by things that were not meant to be seen. Things that were not supposed to exit. But no one dared to believe him. Not even Cain’s parents wanted to even acknowledge that something could be wrong with him. Everyone wished to live in their own bliss of ignorance and keep Cain’s problem to himself. Everyone except for Abel.

Abel reveled at being the elder brother of the two; even if only a few minutes older. Because of this small time difference, Abel took the responsibility to being protective, loving, and, most of all, understanding towards Cain. It pained Abel to know that Cain was suffering and could not do a damn thing about it. Try and try as he might, Abel never fully got through to Cain. Cain was fully aware that Abel was there to help him, but Cain knew that Abel would never fully understand his torment, the Madness that was his constant companion, pushing him further and further to the edge. Cain’s situation did not improve when Abel would suddenly disappear for days, even weeks at times. Cain grew to resent his brother; Abel had always been the smarter one, the stronger one, the perfect one. The hatred grew and grew, kindled by the ever growing Madness. Abel was the only light in Cain’s life, his only reason for clinging on his wretched world. A light that needed to be snuffed out.

Cain wished to be as strong as his brother. He strived to fight, to be the strength for others. Failure was all that was earned from the effort. Scorn, disgust, anger, all colors of such emotions were directed towards Cain whenever he tried to do the right thing. It simply was not for him; his Madness would whisper quietly to him. It was all Abel’s doing. Abel was the one who kept pushing Cain to be better, to walk towards the light. Had Cain never known the light at all, perhaps he would not be suffering as much. It was all because of Abel.

Abel thus returned from Wonderland, never looking back but always remembering the moments he spent. He’d finally tell Cain about it. Maybe, one day, he’d take Cain there. It might do Cain some good to be in a place where he could start anew, a place where no one would know him, to start as a blank slate. Excited for his plan, Abel invited Cain to take a walk with him for he wanted to talk. Interestingly enough, Cain wanted to talk to Abel as well. With such a happy coincidence, Abel led Cain around town, discussing how he wanted to do everything in his power to help his brother.

“You...truly want to help me?” Cain could not help but ask as they made their way through a shortcut. It was a shortcut Abel had used to make his way to the Rabbit Hole. Abel would show Cain and with any luck, the brothers would travel back into Wonderland and find a cure, or maybe just a way to cope, for Cain’s Madness. This kind of help was not something Cain had in mind. The help that seemed to work for Cain was the bloody kind. Revealing a knife that was hidden underneath his jacket, Cain began to cut away at his own arms and hands. With each cut, each laceration, the pain from the Madness began to melt away as it always does.

Mortified, Abel looked upon his brother’s self-mutilation with tears in his eyes. When had it become this bad? Why did he not see the signs? Realization dawned on Abel as he knew that he had spent way too much time in Wonderland. Precious time that should have been spent looking after his little brother. Abel took a step forward, reaching out to Cain, to his brother’s pain, wanting nothing but to take it away. Cain, in return, recoiled backwards, not wanting Abel to take his only escape from him. This was the only thing Cain had left. No one would strip him of his too. Still Abel would not yield and crept closer, the tears now freely streaming down his cheeks, muttering apology after apology; of how he was such a terrible brother. Abel wanted to do right by Cain, to make up for lost time.

A small, almost sorrowful smile crept upon Cain’s lips at Abel’s plight. Cain gazed at his brother and shook his head. Time was already running out for him. Raising the knife above his head, Cain plunged it down. The torment would soon be over.

Cain expected a sharp pain followed by a release of some sort. He’d always hear about shedding mortal coils or even a final breath but nothing of the like occurred. Nothing but a growing warm spot behind his head. Then the pain set in. Cain opened his eyes to see that his brother was at his feet, lying face down and motionless. With a grunt of obvious pain, Abel somehow managed to prop himself just enough to show that the knife had been dug deep within his chest. Coughing up blood, Abel only smiled at his brother. Both knew that Abel’s life was slowly fading away.

Always the one to think quickly with any given situation, Abel gathered whatever strength he had left and told Cain of the Rabbit Hole, of Wonderland, of his adventures as the Ace of Hearts, everything. Naturally, it was the extremely short, concise version but it had to do as Abel began to lose vision. All the while Cain was muttering his own apologizes over and over. Despite it all, Abel could not help himself but laugh.

“Cain, it’s all right…It’s not your fault…” Abel wiped away a bit of blood that began to escape from his mouth, “You can be free now…you can…live…”

Those words would forever haunt Cain until the day he died. He should not be the one who was standing, he should be the one about to die. He wanted to be the one who was dying. Screaming in agony, frustration, regret, and sadness, Cain clenched his teeth and took off towards the direction of the Rabbit Hole that Abel spoke of, never looking back. Not because he could not look back, but because he was afraid of what he would see. He did not want to see his brother leaving him behind again.

Abel watched Cain has he ran off into the distance. An image that brought a one last smile to his fading life. Abel had faith in his brother, even after everything. He always had. The nagging feeling still would not leave him, even in death. With his final breath, Abel wished he may have the ability to always take care of his brother. And so it was granted.

As one story comes to a close, another one begins. The story of Cain Trepinedom is similar to that of a Abel, but with a more interesting touch. Cain too met a Queen. He too fought to prove himself but out of spite towards his brother. Cain knew that Abel gave up his life so that he may life his own. Cain’s bitterness aside, he would not waste Abel’s sacrifice. A part of him wanted to off himself so that he could find Abel again and speak his mind with violent words, but another part of him wanted to make a mark in this world just as Abel did. A goal that was quite difficult to achieve when everyone in Wonderland believed Cain to be Abel. It took months to convince the Queen and the other Spades of what really happened to his brother. Cain would just have to settle with this small achievement since it was near impossible to change the mind of someone who was mad. And speaking of Madness, Cain’s own affliction grew day by day, the complete opposite reaction Abel had hoped for Cain. Yet Abel had already done all he could. Now, it was Cain’s turn to bring forth a legacy worth remembering.
