Greenie's Prompt “Small fire! I said to set a small fire! This is not small!”
Character: Carina
-----
“Small fire! I said to set a small fire! This is not small!” A blonde boy shook his head as he stared at the crackling fire in the room. "Carina!"
"But.....I did....I just pulled Meia's tail!" the small white fox named Carina whined in her cutesy higher pitched voice as she hid behind the cushy dark red sofa.
The blonde boy sighed in exasperation and then shook his head. "How does that even-----ugh, that aside, we need to put the fire out now quickly...before Father comes!"
The white fox whined before poking her head out. "Cary tried. I really did. You wanted a small fire!" The heat hit her fur immediately, and her eyes widened as she noticed the flames that had now spread out to beyond the fireplace she had attempted to light. The fire had grown so quickly. But...why? And then it hit her. They were in a library, and libraries had lots of paper and combustible material. She frowned. But..but... wasn't it not her fault? Someone could have planned the library better and move all the combustible stuff and books away from the fireplace, right? Oh wait.... she had gathered a bunch of books to help make the fire bigger, and well... that hadn't worked out exactly the way she meant it to work out.
By the time Carina returned from losing herself her thoughts trying to reason with herself, the flames had caught to the sofa that the small fox was half hidden behind. "!!!!!! Eek! Hot! Wah!" The fox scurried away from the fire and sniffed. Where was the blonde? He was gone. Nowhere. Did he abandon her? Why so mean? And the fire! Now she was surrounded!
The fox trembled as she wailed in despair and began to climb anything she could find just to get away from the branching flames. "Meiiiiiiiiiiaaaaaa! wahhh! helpppppppp!" With some effort, she found herself on top of one of the highest bookcases in the room. However, flames had already began to flirt with the lower shelves of the bookcase, and it would only be a matter of time before the flames reached her.
There was a loud splash as a giant bucket of water made its first foray into battle. "Carina!" Kai had returned. "Use your water abilities. Now would be a good time!"
"Water?" Cary blinked. "Oooohhhhhhh...right!" She had water elemental abilities, but she usually thought of ice. The fox sat on her hutches and squinted as she tried to will water into existence. "...but...the fire is so big...." More splashes sounded probably from Kai's bucket throwing and Cary's own attempts to summon water. "TAKE THAT, FIRE! I can beat you!" Cary cried as she summoned more water.
The flames seemed to retreat back toward the fireplace a little, so there was progress. However, the hope that Cary had dropped like a rock as the bookcase she was on creaked and began to tilt....
Nameless Illusions
Because nothing is really what is seems to be . . .
