- SO.
As most of you should know at this point because you're in the Skype chat and you've seen me posting screenshots and links and asking for opinions eight thousand times, we're moving! (Not for a while tho, but after we finish this plot.)
That's right! We're moving for a few different reasons, but primarily it's so things will be easier to manage overall for me. I'll list out some of the big ones, though.
- The forums are easy to moderate. Gaia's system makes it incredibly difficult to move forums around or add new ones. There's literal empty forums just for titles. Not anymore! Our new site makes it easy to shift forums around, and I can even set it to maintenance mode so I can work in peace without any of you seeing the messy stuff.
- Easier navigation. There's a nice little bar that takes you to exactly the forum you want, and if you roll over the header there are more external links to things like the Spotify and the TV Tropes pages. Overall the site is much simpler to work your way around, and that's something a couple members have come to be about.
- Easier to post. I've installed a plugin lets you save your posting styles, so it should be a snap from now on to post and go. And also, something I'm very happy with, is the NPC profile plugin. This essentially lets me post as whatever NPC I upload, so no more account-hopping for me when it comes to plot and announcements!
- No more mucking around in the code. You can write your posts directly in the preview window. Just pick your post layout and switch to that window and you're good to go.
- Moderation is simple. The layout on the admin page is easy as heck and I can set up a crew group and make an application there instead of making people manually write one out. (I think I'll be a little clearer about crew duties this time, too.)
- More possibilities. I can password protect forums. In other words, there could be a real scavenger hunt around the site and I think games like that would be a lot of fun.
- Aesthetic. Just look at the website. Enough said.
That being said! I have a VERY VERY long list of things to do in the process of moving over there and I could really use your help! About 70% of the list is writing area threads - there's over a hundred to do, and since I didn't actually create all of them I'm looking to you for help.
So! If you'd like to write a location description, and maybe attach an NPC to go with it, fill out the form and PM it to me please! You can use the rest of this thread for discussing the new forum if you'd like. I kind of made this title have a double meaning on purpose. You can also take a shot at writing the description of another location that's frequently visited if you want, or even one that already has a description. Basically anything goes.
Specific Locations I'm Looking For:
- Cat Cafe
- Music Store
- Xander's Bar
- The Hair Salon
- Xander's Tattoo Parlor
- Qualitea
- The Mechanic's Shop
- The Calico Cat
- The Other Magick Museum (the one in England, not Wales.)
I didn't create any of these places so the player that did has a better idea of what it looks like than I do. If you want to write a location that's not here, go for it. Here's the code:
[size=11][u]Location:[/u] text
[u]Area:[/u] (which hub area is it in? justus, town over, forest, etc)
[u]Description:[/u] text
[u]NPCs:[/u] (put links here! If you don't have an HQ image, and by HQ I mean Large, add an item list.)[/size]
[u]Area:[/u] (which hub area is it in? justus, town over, forest, etc)
[u]Description:[/u] text
[u]NPCs:[/u] (put links here! If you don't have an HQ image, and by HQ I mean Large, add an item list.)[/size]
