Name: ???
Alias: ???
Age: like 14? 15?
Gender: Gender neutral brah
Powers: Electrokinesis, Empathy, Aura Reading
Aura: #7755aa+#ff8877, low frequency
Appearance: IT IS A MYSTERY! A fun mystery made of magic rainbow spaghetti. (the picture is up there but I'm leaving this here.) Sort of does a mix between outdoorsy, chic, and casual raver as far as clothing style goes, but it works somehow. Eyes are their favorite pattern/motif. Despite relatively average height, they're definitely 100% gangle, flopping their limbs around and allowing themselves to be manhandled like a ragdoll cat.
Personality: the chillest chiller to ever chill a chill. how does a teenager even become this chill. maybe it's all the music. Anyways they're pretty physical, not necessarily athletic but they like to do things. Including hugs. Especially hugs. And laying on other peoples' laps. And leaning on them while they're waiting in line in the cafeteria.
History: Family is mom and dad and a baby sister. Mom and dad try to be supportive and understanding, but their child is so strange in a lot of ways, and they're a little slow to learn about things like the genders and the psychics. Their child, being a teenager, still has their flounces and sulks over this, but their empathy ability is making it hard to stay mad at their parents for long. They're trying, after all, and they both love them very, very much, and that counts for a lot.
They get along ok with their mundie classmates, have a pretty wide friend base among the student populus, especially the band - although their discovery of their gender (or lack thereof) had the school abuzz for a while. A few kids do misgender them on purpose - although they're not terribly bothered by this, just politely reminding their detractors every few times they 'slip up'. The furor's mostly died down, just in time for there to be more drama over them leaving to go to another school. At the last pep rally of the year, there was an announcement and official farewell ceremony - for security reasons, the Murmuring Pines academy wasn't mentioned by name, and was only described as a private boarding school, so there's going to be plenty to talk about. It's gonna be weird not to be there for the talking though - other than what they hear through the friends they mange to keep in contact with, it's going to be separate from them.
They're an amateur electronica musician, by which I mean they mostly mess around in programs like FL Studio in their free time and see what kinds of weird noises their computer can make. Often does so with the windows open and the volume high. The mockingbirds in their neighborhood sound pretty interesting.
Electrokinesis, being their primary power, was the first to develop. It showed up fairly late, despite a lifetime of frequent static shocks, and probably resulted in some small and inexplicable property damage. Sort of half hoping they were becoming a super hero, they started reading comics for some advice on what to do with this information (and totally not get some costume design tips). This is how they stumbled upon True Psychic Tales magazine, which was just starting a really riveting new story arc. Hopelessly hooked, they suspected that maybe they weren't so much a superhero as a psychic when their second power, empathy, began to develop less than a year later - and then the third, telemetry, came knocking even faster. With what seemed like perfect timing, the next issue of TST ran an ad in the back for Murmuring Pines and Whispering Rock Psychic Summer Camps, which upon investigation turned out to not only be a real thing, but were thankfully seized upon as a way to learn more about their new abilities (and totally not become a super hero / secret agent). They were out of the summer camp age bracket by then though, so school it is.
Electrokinesis makes working with computers difficult and dangerous sometimes, so they've managed to develop some rudimentary control over at least that power - and, just to be safe, they wear anti-static straps on both wrists when computing. Frying computers on the regular is just too expensive a thing to allow yourself to do accidentally, you know? Empathy is mostly useful to them, since knowing how others feel is pretty helpful when navigating the choppy waters of the teenage years, although it does get kind of overbearing sometimes. Music helps to drown it out, which is a huge relief. Aura reading didn't even come as a surprise when it developed, although it's sort of hard not to comment on all the weird and cool colors surrounding your classmates, and sometimes all the wildly shifting hues and shapes of their volatile peers give them a headache.
