The quick tingling zap of warmth that ze felt at the brief handshake told Jae that ze didn't have to worry about the woman freaking out about the casual display of strength for she was an Otherworlder. What kind, the artist would be hard pressed to say, but it did have something to do with fire. Or energy. Or maybe just being warm. That was about as much as Jae's family ever got in terms of being able to tell what other Otherworlders were without them being obvious about it. On the flip side, most Otherworlders had a hard time pinning down what Jae's family were. "Mostly plein air boards." Jaedin shrugged. "Inoffensive little things that you can put in an office or in a bathroom. Something to say that you've been to LA, and isn't it such a diverse place and so tawdry sometimes? Or Oh-isn't-LA-so-pretty-sometimes?" As ze spoke, hir tone changed to mocking the lilting tones stereotypically favored by the rich and sheltered that often bought hir paintings. "Sometimes I wonder what would happen if I snuck in a few paintings from the Castro or Folsom Street Fair. Or a cop harassing someone at the Fashion District." The artist let out a grunt of self-depreciating laughter. "Of course, they'd probably call it 'edgy' or some bullshit like that. Like the time they got confused and thought my other work was bleeding into my paintings when I did a sketch of the patrons at the bar."
