It had been months since the tragedy had befallen the kingdom: The young Princess Crystalline Serenity had fallen into a deep sleep with no warning, and efforts to revive her had been stalled. Many of the senshi and knights duties had been stalled due to other matters in their lives, and contacts had been lost.Although the air was filled with uncertainty, Queen Lady Serenity and King Helios decided to come forth from their absence and gather their strengths to hold a holiday gathering for family and friends.
The palace was rightly decorated; simple hanging lights from the ceilings, all sparkling against the crystal walls of the palace. A large fountain had been brought in to the center of the ballroom, with a spectrum of lights illuminating the water in golds and icy blues. In between each of the columns stood tall evergreen trees, also decorated with twinkling clear lights and golden baubles and gems. Various servants were setting the rest of the ballroom for the party, tables filled with delicious dishes and sweets from around the world, and one specifically for punch and drinks. In another part of the ballroom, a symphony played soft and delicate music, finalizing the atmosphere of the gathering as calm and inviting.
The party was almost ready, but still no one had began to gather just yet into the ballroom. Speculations had already arose about if the King and Queen would even make an appearance to greet their guests, given the circumstances surrounding the kingdom. However, they also wondered if this party would be a step in the right direction to bring together the senshi and knights to further fulfill their duties.

The large balls and parties that the palace threw were always beautiful. Fairy lights danced, their illumination low but enough to be dazzling due the bright reflections from the crystals that made up the castle. There were trees, too - large things with misty green needles and decorated to high heavens with baubles and other shimmering items that caught the eye.
Even in their suffering the royal couple knew how to celebrate but Mimi had a sinking suspicion this was all merely for show. A way to keep the civilians and loyal servants happy during the holiday season and to keep hope alive during dire times.
She stood near the fountain, gloved hands picking at a bit of errant silver brocade that had slipped from the pretty black bodice of her dress. Not particularly festive but Mimi, tired from both her training and employment, didn't feel very jolly. The common explosive energy she displayed was gone, replaced with a subdued moroseness that did not suit her in the least bit.

Jacklyn walked up the stairs to the glittering jewel of Neo Tokyo. Since the palace was so new to her, one of the staff escorted her to the ballroom. She could feel her heart pound with each step. To say she was nervous was an understatement.
Nothing prepared her eyes for the ballroom. It was dazzling beyond her expectation. Trees dotted the ballroom, dressed to the nines with exquisite ornaments and glittering lights. The colors and the lights danced around her vision playfully, enticing her to gaze about her surroundings. It was too much visual information, so she went to the fountain to rest a little.
When she arrived, she noticed someone there. She was lovely; from her soft golden locks to the dress that adorned her. Jacklyn tried with difficulty to remember if she was someone important that she should know. Much to her displeasure, nothing came to mind. She was still so new to it all; Jacklyn had much to learn and very little time to learn.
Nevertheless, Jacklyn understood that she wasn't quite as lighthearted. She could feel her heart pound in her ears as she prepared herself for a conversation. I can do this, this isn't like beating youma or saving the world. This is a conversation darn it! She concluded. With her newfound and short-lived confidence, she went straight up to the woman and asked "How are you this leaving?" Jacklyn could feel the heat rise to her face as she realized her malapropism was showing. With a sigh, she corrected herself. "Evening."

It had been a while since Marius had ventured into the city, let alone the palace. His every day life had gotten in the way of his duties, and he felt terrible for not giving his knightly duties more priority. But then again, he had an empire to run, and he couldn't let something his father had worked so hard for fall under.
Dressed in a simple black and white get-up, black tail-coat flared out behind him as he walked up the stairs to the ballroom entrance, eyes focused on the glimmering glow of the crystalline walls. Although he had completely trimmed down the beard he had acquired during on of his business travels, he still sported the long hair he had also gained, which was piled into a bun on the back of his head.
Hopefully he would be able to meet with the King at some point to express his apologies for being lackluster in his knightly duties...but there was another person he was ready to see at the party as well and hoped that she would be able to make it and did not have to work. His eyes spotted her near the fountain and they lit up and was beginning to head over when another woman approached her to speak with her. He stepped back on his feet and stood, there, biting his lip as he stood his ground to wait until their conversation was over.

Fion was really out of her element. When discovering that she was a senshi, it never occurred to her that she was technically-in-a-way part of the young Princess' court, especially since she had sadly never met the Princess awake. It felt odd, to be here out of uniform like this. Not bad, but... weird.
Oh, but the trees! The decorations were gorgeous, and in the middle of winter Fion often ached for something green and alive. Pines were fabulous, and these were covered over in baubles and glass and crystal, reflecting the lights almost as prettily as the walls themselves. Fion had immediately gone to each one in turn, gently touching the branches and resonating her calm with that of the pines. She always felt better when around plants; winter made her feel alone sometimes. With the decorated trees, she felt that she too - in her tight bodice and flowy green skirt, both trimmed in gold - could belong here.
Looking around, she could see that both Mimi and Jacklyn had arrived, the young senshi standing together near the fountain. She was just wondering if she should go over to say hello when she noticed a man about her own age, maybe a little older, watching them as well. He bounced back and bit his lip, and Fion smiled kindly. She had seen enough of the young men on her archery team behave the same, so she guessed he might have an interest in one of the two young senshi.
"You should go say hello," she told him softly, giving him what she hoped was an encouraging smile. "I bet she'd be happy." Fion didn't know which 'she' the young man was wanting, but up close she finally recognized his face. She had seen many of the knights, and though she didn't know his name and his hair looked longer, she was sure this young man was one.
"I can come too, that way it's not interrupting," she continued. And that way the other girl wasn't left alone. But it was a ball at the royal palace, and everything had been so miserable lately, and someone deserved something happy to happen to them. Why not a little romance? Though she wasn't much interested in romance herself, she thought the young man was kind of sweet in his seeming nervousness.Maybe all he needed was a nudge in the right direction.

His thoughts were interrupted when the redhead spoke to him, his head shaking slightly as he glanced over to her. Laughing slightly, Marius rubbed the back of his neck, fiddling with the back collar of his cravat while the other hand rested on his hip.
"Well, you see...it's been quite a few days since I last saw her and I'm sure she will be a bit spicy about it...since I did have to cancel a date with her for some business meetings."
After hearing her second suggestion, he nodded his head in agreement, clearing his throat, "That could work...she wouldn't be too hard on me if someone were to accompany me over there..."

Mimi looked up from her gown, twirling the silver thread around a gloved finger and giving it a yank to finally snap the thread. The morose energy seemed to melt away and she offered a bright, sunny smile to the girl who approached her. If she noticed the verbal mix up she gave no indication of it and offered her hand towards the newcomer in welcome.
"I'm doing well!" She replied with a tone that, despite lacking joviality, was still sweet and effervescent. Even when exhausted her vivacious enthusiasm shone through. "How about you?"
Mimi, always casual with people (even those she just met) extended he hand the full way of the ways and took the pretty blue girl's in a firm, bouncy shake.
"I'm Mimi by the way!"

The girl's nature shifted from a cool melancholy to a warm enthusiasm in an instant. Jacklyn was mentally taken aback by the sudden shift, which was made even more so by the open friendliness of her handshake. Mimi, that's easy enough to remember. She thought to herself.
Still a little shy, Jacklyn replied. "I'm alright. My name is Jacklyn." She wasn't sure what else to say, so she gestured to the massive ballroom. "It's a nice party isn't it?" Jacklyn figured that's what was normal to talk about. Her eyes strayed enough to notice a familiar face framed with brilliant scarlet hair. "Hi Fion! Over here!" She gestured for her to come near.

"If it's been a few days, she should definitely be happy. Especially if you go to her," Fion smiled kindly again. Though she still wasn't sure which of the two young girls he was talking about, he seemed sweet in his nervousness. If even she found it endearing, her with no personal interest in romance, than she was hoping that either of her two fellow senshi couldn't stay mad for too long.
Fion gestured toward Mimi and Jacklyn, nodding as she and the young man began to head over. "I'm Fion Riordan. Emerald," she told him by way of explanation. This was confirmed almost immediately as Jacklyn called her name and waved her over.
She smiled back at the two other senshi. "Jacklyn! Mimi! Good evening! Have you both met...?" Trailing off, Fion gestured towards the young man, letting him introduce himself since she still didn't know his name or which knight he was. Of course, one of the girls would be quite familiar with him, but they didn't have to know that he had just mentioned to Fion about having to miss a date.

The parties at the palace were always nice and set the standard for how a good shindig should be thrown in Crystal Tokyo. She had no doubts that subsequent holiday parties thrown by the aristocracy that year would have elements directly ripped off from this event. She was about to reply when Jacklyn shouted for Fion, a girl that Mimi had met in a charming cafe, to come over.
She turned, all smiles. There was the familiar red hair and -
A lump rose in Mimi's throat when she noticed who was with her. Marius always cut a dashing figure and looked so good in his current suit. Attractiveness aside seeing him made her somewhat crumple. Instead of being furious from the cancellation of their date, Mimi instead had taken the uncharacteristic turn of being sad.
At Fion's question, Mimi simply nodded her head.

Marius could already see that Mimi's demeanor changed as soon as she saw him. Color rushed to his cheeks as he felt more nervous than before, fingers flexing idly before he crossed one arm in front of his stomach, bowing to Jacklyn.
"Marius Fortuyn, or otherwise known as the Golden Knight. Pleased to make your acquaintance."
After announcing himself to both Jacklyn and Fion, Marius turned to Mimi and offered a apologetic smile before taking her hand and kissing the top, "And Mimi and I are dating...or at least I hope we still are seeing as I have been a lousy boyfriend the past few weeks."

Ruby looked up at the palace in front of her. She wasn't one to ignore an opportunity to dress in her newest, finest gown, but a party at the palace was more an obligation. Her father's voice echoed in her ears. She made the mistake of inviting the crimson haired ex-villian to accompany her. She found herself wishing he had agreed. Sighing, she slowly walked down the halls of the crystalline structure. Having been there only a few times, she hadn't memorized anything. As such, she quickly found herself lost.
By the time the well quaffed redhead found the ballroom, there had been a gathering, small as it was, of familiar faces. It had been what seemed like months since she had seen any of them, and really they couldnt be blamed. She paused, taking a moment to admire the extravagantly decorated room. Tall trees, green as an emerald, gems of all shapes and colors hanging delicately about the room, food, drink, music...she couldn't have done better herself. She smiled, and checked her hair in a small red and black compact she had concealed on her body, before making her way toward the familiar faces.
As she approached, her heels clicking against the glass like floors, she mentally went through a checklist. She already knew Mimi by her curls, and Marius by the bun on his head, a familiar shade of brown, but there were others. A girl with red hair, and green clothes...Fione...Sailor Emerald. She was the plant lover. Great...no pyrotechnics. Then...a pretty young woman in shades of blue. "Hm..not sure if I've met this one..." Truth was, she didn't care too much to remember any of these extra girls. Only a few really mattered, and considering she's started out happily alone, she considered that a leap forward. *Ahem* She politely cleared her throat, and waited for her turn to talk.

Staying even a smidgen sad when Marius was around was nearly impossible and, when he took her hand and kissed the top of it, she couldn't help but smile in spite of herself. Of course they were still dating. Mimi liked him too much to give up on their relationship because one week of it happened to be a little sour.
"Don't be dumb," Mimi chastised playfully,"it's just one missed date. I'll live."

Jacklyn nodded as Fion and another individual came closer. Upon further examination he was a stout gentleman and was of very good character. "Jacklyn, the pleasure's all mine. Oh! I'm also Sailor Sapphire." Jacklyn gave herself a mental slap on the forehead for not thinking of mentioning her senshi status sooner. She needed to step up her game; She was a Sailor Guardian now, and she had to start acting like one.
When Marius mentioned of his relationship to Mimi, Jacklyn smiled softly. The idea of those two being a couple was too precious for words. Considering all the crazy things that have been going on, it was nice to have something normal for a change.
A person clearing their throat broke her out of her reverie. Jacklyn turned to see a gorgeous woman dressed entirely in red. She smiled and offered her hand for a friendly handshake, "I'm Jacklyn, also known as Sailor Sapphire."
