Do you crochet or make any of your holiday decorations and if so what?

I'm sure I have, can't think of any on the spot....

hmmm, I have done easter bunny appliques to go on a little easter basket lol and with flowers. I've tried one snowflake, hmmm, no idea what happened to it. And lately, a lot of flowers xd and a butterfly or two!

I've got some halloween stuff saved somewhere so one day I'll get around to trying that 3nodding

I haven't made many decorations for the holidays. I would love to crochet a tree skirt for our Christmas tree but haven't gotten around to doing that. I'd love to crochet some tread snow flake ornaments. I'd love to knit or crochet some stocking too, really big ones that would hold a lot of stuffers. heart I saw a wreath that was pretty amazing so now I'll have to go find that pattern. I think it was a bunch of individual green star shaped leaves stacked together and then strung in a circle. *sigh* I need to crochet more. cat_biggrin

Other than some ornaments I did for a fellow guild member last year, I don't really crochet ornaments - holiday or otherwise.

I do love try new patterns though and Halloween is my favourite event time. (Wasn't into it much this year on Gaia with all the kin stuff). I have to crochet a bat, but I'm working on a pumpkin person right now. Nothing original - just trying to mimic a cute one I know from a video game.

♪♫ I've not made any decorations as of yet.
But once life settles down a bit for me, I think I'll end up making decorations.

Now that I think about it, I made a heart ornament; but I didn't keep it.
I stitched my niece's name onto it and gave it to her.

I have made some, but mostly with selling in mind... not many, though. They just don't sell well. I made a few for my mother, but she doesn't see things made by me as anything but curiosities -- certainly not as the elegant holiday decor type of look she always tries to achieve (and, honestly, misses because she just puts out so damn much). Everything I've given her is in one of her drawers, actually. Hats, mittens, neck warmer, in there with a few doilies and a couple little purses, never used, and then she goes out and buys the same kinds of things to actually wear. rolleyes

Anyway... I made some amigurumi snowmen for Christmas two or three years ago; I finally put little "50% off" tags on them at my booth once June rolled around, and then they sold. Oh, some little stocking ornaments I made three years ago did sell, too... I had them for $4, then when it got down to the last hour of art walk I took out my sharpie and cut them to $1 each. Which would be worth it if I could make one in about a minute and a half, but they take close to ten minutes to make, so that's no good. And I still have the little tree that I made last year, though I admit that was mostly just a test of the method; I didn't decorate the thing or do anything to really make it marketable, I just put it out on my table at the time because my supplies were running low and I hadn't been able to restock much.

I've had the same problem with anything seasonal, though... bunnies made for Easter end up selling in August, black cats made for Halloween stick around til February, and the red, white, and blue stuff stuck around through two Julys (art walk was on the 3rd this year and the 2nd last year, even) before I just took it out and put it in the "frog it" drawer. Which I pronounce a little differently, but that's what it means. xd
