In his human form, he can bring his arms down fast enough to create a strong gust of air, capable of lifting him high enough to jump about fifteen feet above the ground, but the higher he jumps, the shorter the overall distance he travels. On the ground, he is quick and agile, appearing to flit and fly over the ground if it's smooth and level enough.
Ari's main weapons are a crossbow and halberd, though he nearly always wears leather gloves with brass over the knuckles for hand-to-hand fighting.
He frequently carries a lute around with him that he is not opposed to smacking people with.
↣ P e r s o n a l i t y ▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰ ¯ ¯ ↘ Mischievous, yet sweet. Smarter than he seems, but too scatterbrained to truly put that intelligence to use. He has the innocent cruelty of a child who knows they aren't supposed to do something, but doesn't fully comprehend why it is wrong. He loves to play tricks on people, but doesn't always remember what traps he has set, so he occasionally falls into them himself. The more troublesome fault with his memory is that he is easily distracted and forgets what he knows how to do. He's been described as entirely useless for combat, but that isn't true. He's a very capable fighter, but he needs someone to keep him on track. He loves music, singing, and dancing, and mentions of family in any capacity tend to make him wistful and sad.
↣ M yxS t o r y ▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰ ¯ ¯ ↘ Born in Zeladis, Ari was part of a very large murder of werecrows. He had a brother and sister born from the same clutch, and the extended family was so large, and so many members would come and go frequently, no one ever bothered to count how many of them there actually were. Nearly all of the members of the murder were skilled fighters or thieves, the rest being healers and caretakers or simply too young to have any skills. Not Ari, however. He was a special case from the beginning.
A gullible, affectionate mischief-maker who was small for his age, he tended to get picked on a lot by the older children, then pulled into their misdeeds and consequently blamed for them. He was easily upset and quick to cry, always running to his brother and sister for protection. While his brother defended him, his sister was always quick to berate him even as she fought off his antagonists, though she always made her cruelty up to him with treats and tips on how to protect himself or retaliate. The three would often roughhouse, and later spar, with each other. Partly, they wanted to hone their skills, but it was also to keep Ari from falling too far behind in the training all of the children went through when they got old enough. No one else would bother with the tiny trickster.
When the fledglings were nearly old enough to be considered adults, representatives from the monarchy came to assess their usefulness in the Zeladis military, and more importantly, their potential for the games. Despite the attempts of his siblings to prevent it, the other young crows used his poor ability to focus against him, sabotaging his chances of earning any sort of respect, though even they couldn't have guessed they would ruin him so badly, he'd be so violently exiled from the kingdom if their shocked faces were anything to go by. How he ended up in Malandaia, he cannot fully recall, but he was so grateful to the kind people who took him in and dressed his wounds that he immediately decided to make it his new home. He doesn't miss Zeladis at all, but he would give up his wings to be with his siblings again.

Having always seemed to be a gentle soul despite the penchant for mischief, no one expected him to get past the first round of the tournament. It was assumed he'd been dared to try and was too daft to run away. Instead, he somehow kept himself collected enough to prove he really had learned something during all those years of training. He didn't really come close to winning, of course. Not with fighters like Mana and Mika in the mix. But, he did well enough to make the list of game participants.

Darklings- These creatures come from people who either have been freshly dead, or very close to dying. When a powerful demon or witch comes across a soul nearly dead, they breathe a sliver of their immortality into their victims. The newly made darkling is forced subservient by their maker. Only when their maker verbally releases them, are they free. Many makers teach their darklings basic black magic. The darkling does not appear to age after being made and may live up to one hundred years. The darkling is bent to their master’s will and will usually have the endurance of a human, but with experience comes more endurance.
Black magic has to do with torment and death. It is used for raising the dead, communicating with the dead, placing curses, and generally being unkind.
