Melody is wolf that has yet to find a pack. Winter was soon approaching, and she was out hunting when she heard a small whimper from somewhere.

 Iris, a two week old Canadian marble fox, was in her mother's den. She was alone and starving as she started whimpering and crawling around trying to find warmth. She was the only kit of her litter and a runt. As she crawled around she started yipping a little trying to say she was hungry and wanted to eat.

Melody followed the whimpering noise and laid down sticking her head as best she could in the fox den, smelling the young fox kit.

Iris whimpered as she smelled Melody's scent before she let out a grunt wanting to eat as she crawled over to Melody's paw and started to try to climb on it thinking melody was her mama.

Melody looked at the young pup, not sure what to do. She knew she probably couldn't feed the pup, but she couldn't leave it to starve. Gently picking up the pup, she held it gently in her mouth before placing her on the ground by her feet. Then she began to dig into the hole to make more room for the both of them, making sure to keep the pup in her sight. (MY LAPTOP'S FINALLY FIXED!!!!! X3)

Iris whimpered a bit as she crawled around the den. She stayed close to Melody. Poor thing was very hungry and wanted to eat. Though she wasn't sure why her 'mommy' wasn't feeding her. She started crying a bit as her tummy started hurting from hunger. She crawled over towards Melody, following her scent, before she started whimpering and crying. Poor little thing would need to nurse soon since she hadn't all day.

Melody looked down at Iris and laid down to let her nurse, hoping it would work.

Iris managed to crawl over to Melody and started to nurse. She was obviously getting something after a few seconds. She was grunting peacefully as she nursed. When she finished she snuggled up to Melody, unaware she wasn't really her real mother since her eyes were just starting to open. Iris was so tiny compared to a wolf pup but was really sweet towards Melody and seemed to like her very much.

Melody sighed, her tail wagging glad that Iris was full and satisfied. She curled up around the fox kit and closed her eyes slowly falling asleep.

Iris snuggled up to Melody for warmth from her mommy. As the weeks went by, Iris was getting bigger as well as stronger each and every day. She was currently playing with a butterfly at the entrance of their home. Just then the butterfly landed on her little nose, and she said "Wooky mama!" giggling as the butterfly was tickling her nose. She was now about 2 months old and was now the size of a young wolf pup. Though she was a fox, she knew Melody loved her. She had no idea she was a fox though but was still very sweet thanks to melody, whom Iris thought was her birth mommy. It was rare for other species of animals to take care of other animal's babies. Iris was very special though since she was raised by Melody, a wolf.
