As the Queen's last heartbeats peter out, Ellie wakes from her gold dream and simply stands there for a moment as she takes it all in... That... Was a fairly pleasant dream... A good one actually!
As she muses on her former dream, it suddenly occurs to her that there is another door in front of her... A Green one... This door... it causes her stomach to roil just looking at it! And yet... And yet she feels inexplicably drawn to it... It tugged at her harder then any other door previously had... Finally, despite the increasing nausea, she reaches out and grabs the handle!
Suddenly, it hits her! ALL her memories! Every single one! She could remember everything from early childhood till now! But... With her memories came a unfortunate realization... She truely had been infected... And now... Now she was consumed by it... Sighing resignly, Ellie somehow didn't feel saddened by this... She just felt... Accepting of it... she was ready to end this... Ready to just- The thought was suddenly cut off for a moment as a pulse of consciousness stirs within her! But, was it her consciousness...?
She wasn't just her anymore... No, she was part of something bigger, something grander... This... This is what happen to all the Infected, this is why they seemed so devoid of mind... Because they were... She knew this now... Knew this because she WAS the virus! She saw herself through the entire network of the Virus, she was Knowledge, she was Creation, she... was a Legacy! Slowly, she begins to relax as this awaking washes over her, immerses her... She was a gatherer of memories now... Maybe she'd had a name at one time, but it didn't matter... Her memories, her very existence were going into the greater whole... Into the collection... All that mattered now was that she was the Virus...
No...
Your Legacy is a gift, a boon! You infect those who remain, you-
No- This isn't-
You harvest, you feed, you gather!
This isn't right! I was once-
The world is your vessel, the memories fuel your Legacy!
No! I'm not Creation I can't be! There is too much I cannot contain! My memories are incomplete!
Suddenly, a strange sensation washes over her! A feeling like... Like she was tearing away! The thoughts that weren't her own; the undeniableness of it all, soon it all disappears! Slowly, it felt as if she were waking up! However, it quickly becomes clear she wasn't... She had no body, no physical presence... It scared her... Scared her to know what she'd become... Scared her to wonder if she'd ever truely be herself again...
Frantically, she searches around for her body! It was fueled by her memories, fueled by who she was! She needed to find her body! Unfortunately, she could not... It was nowhere to be seen in the corridor she found herself in... But... She needed presence... She needed a physical form! Suddenly, as if spured by her desire for shape, the vines nearby her begin to coil around her! "H-huh!?" she thinks in surprise and confusion until she realizes... They were obeying her... The vines were giving her a physical presence!
Her vine form, it felt very much like her natural shape... It looked much like her, in a made of vines sort of way. Now that she had a physical presence she needed to find her body! Unfortunately, it was hard to move in, hard to keep together... Still, it was something, it was a physical presence, and that was enough for now.
In her searching, Ellie finally comes across a body! As she stumbles her way over to the body covered in vines, she looks hopefully the body's face! It could be her body! It had to be! It-... It wasn't... This wasn't her body... But wait... Slowly, Ellie cups the body's cheek gently. It's then that it all hits her! This girl! She knew this girl! She was...! It was the mouse shadow! Eyes widen in shock as the vines continue their encroaching embrace on the girl! The mouse shadow... The one with the sisterly presence... The one who came to save her... Was now trapped herself... She could remember it now... She'd seen it, all if it in the dream she'd had... The girl... She fought for her, protected her, gathered supplies for her... She'd even gotten her a Fishing rod for a weapon... This girl... This Dormouse Monster named Camilla... She'd done her so many favors... Put her life in danger for her...
This wasn't right... Ellie could not, would not allow this! Camilla had done too much for her! It wasn't right that she'd suffer her fate! Ellie was tempted at first to start pulling at the vines; however, she quickly remembers how they responded to her before. Gently, she brushes her hands against the vines near the girl's face and wills them to move. To her surprise, they obliged! Carefully, Ellie untangles the girl before picking her up gently... This poor girl... She couldn't be much younger then Ellie herself...
