Welcome to the House Event! Here we are, in Justus. Thanks to cleverness of the Tomas house representative, there is a sphere of influence around the main town area to keep all the mundanes indoors. Thanks to that, you are all free to use magic to your heart's content.

Here's how the event will work. As you might notice, all the Tomas are scattered throughout Justus. They are not inside, but they may be behind buildings, hiding in trees, or wherever they can think of. Each of them has a flag attached to their waist. Each of these flags is worth one point.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find as many Tomas as possible and steal their flag. Tomas, once they are found, can try to make it to their base (the fountain in the square) where their flags can no longer be taken. The house with the most flags at the end wins. There are seven flags total.

Tomas are free to come and go from the base once they are found, but they are not allowed to take off the flag unless it is stolen. Once the flag is stolen, it's free game for any house - the Tomas can even steal it back if they wish! The trick of the game is to find, steal, and protect the flags until the clock strikes nine. There are also professors patrolling the area to prevent any misconduct.

You can view Tomas students' stats and other house's points from here.

Flags Found
Lucian - 2
Janus - 2
Ekaterina - 1
Tomas - 2

Good luck, dear students! Let's have a nice, clean game, shall we?

(Game start! Tomas students are free to hide anywhere in Justus, bar the inside of any of the buildings. If a Tomas is on the fountain, they are safe and their flag cannot be stolen - other houses will have to set up bases elsewhere. The Cart is off-limits unless you're planning on taunting Merchant, who has found his door to be mysteriously stuck.

Have fun!)

Kesi stood right inside the Town of Justus. He had already been alerted that the game had begun and was now looking out into the town. A game such as this would surely involve lots of running through the alleys, and Kesi only kept thinking about how dangerous that could be. That's why he was sticking closely to Asha and Cabbage. He didn't want anything to happen to either of them, even though there were now teachers stationed all through the town. Perhaps it could be enjoyable, if the safety measures held up.

He looked over at his two companions. "Would the two of you like to help me search?" he asked. Kesi knew both of them had other friends that they would no doubt want to play the game with, but it never hurt to ask. He wasn't quite sure if inter-house teams were allowed, though, so perhaps they didn't have a choice but to stay with him. What an awful thing to be forced into, he thought bitterly. He would try to make the best of the day either way.

Yvonne could feel herself bouncing with anticipation in the branches of one of the leafier trees by the apothecary. She had firm grip on one of the weaker limbs above her, subtly moving it so that the leaves would make her harder to find. It would be a lie if she said she wasn't excited by the chance of being found and having to make a run for it - that was where the fun was!

Her hair would probably be her biggest giveaway. The white stood out against the green of the leaves, but only if you were perceptive enough to see it. Yvonne hoped a plantwielder didn't come by. That might make escaping the tree difficult. Still, it was good practice. Justus could give a few varied terrains for them to practice magic on. She figured that even in the fun, they might learn something? Fun was her priority, though.

Yv pulled out her (purple, shifting a bit at times to yellow) phone, and sent a message through the Tomas group chat.

                      > everyone find a good hiding spot?
                      > if anyone needs me, text me. give it your all and good luck!

Magnus wasn't aware that the game had begun. He has completely forgotten about the game completely and, at the time it began, he was banging on the door of the Merchant's cart. ”Open up, you a*****e! I wanna buy s**t from you!" It wasn't until he heard loud swearing at him from inside that he remembered the game, and the sphere that kept mundanes indoors. s**t, he thought, I have to ply this stupid game. He didn't want to at all, but it was required, or at least he thought so, so he went off in search of one of the Tomas kids, leaving behind the cart and side-eyeing any place that could be used as a hiding spot. Hopefully this would be over quickly.

Shanta was practically buzzing with excitement. They were going to ******** win this thing! It wasn't going to be hard - after all, they had the queen of the air herself (aka Shanta) on their side. Janus was going to go home with all seven flags, or Shanta would swallow Merchant's cooking without complaining about the lack of spices.

Man, speaking of Merchant, Shanta cast a glance over towards the Cart. It hadn't occurred to her immediately, but... oh man, he was stuck, wasn't he? Shanta really hoped he had food, or at least had food that Jack hadn't eaten yet.

But that wasn't important right now - what was important was finding all the Tomas kids before anyone else. Shanta had already decided she was doing recon from the air. She assumed End was going to go off and find Muna automatically, like he always did. So she was left with Adriene, Elvira, Ty, Egg, and Ziza. (And Yani, if the damn girl actually showed, which Shanta doubted.) Fortunately, what they didn't quite have in strength, Shanta knew, her house made up in brute willpower.

"Alright guys!" she said, clapping her hands together. "Let's go find us some flags, yeah? If you find any, gimme a holler and I can come pick it up and hold it up in the air. Or we can use Ziza's bird. Either works." Shanta's golden eyes glittered with anticipation. "I mean, I don't know about you guys? But I wanna win."

User Image Asha shifted her weight back and forth, still accustoming herself to her clothes. They were moderately comfortable in comparison to what she commonly wore. Kesi had good taste in shirts. However, they were also similar to what she might consider "working" clothes. Did that lower her appearance? She ruminated upon it briefly, and was easily solaced by the knowledge that it most certainly did ******** not.

The game had somewhat lost her interest when she'd learned that it meant being divided based upon house. Would Adrienne be teaming with Elvira? Asha squinted at a certain specific point in the distance (nothing interesting about it, really) and glared, shedding envy like an owl shedding its feathers during molting season. Her peripheral vision had improved by at least 50%, she took note of, with her hair out of the way. Excellent. More empty space to glare at.

A dissatisfied sigh hissed its way through her slightly clenched teeth. It took a moment for Asha to realize the stressed nature of her posture, which had become stiff and severe. At Kesi's words she attempted to gather herself.

[It would not be unbearable,] she answered, [to participate in this with you.]

                                  "In other language. Yes,"
she added, noting the presence of their third companion.

In all truths, Asha was prepared to put forth an effort to give an attempt at winning. Though she supposed it would be smarter for the Tomas to simply give her the flag. It would save them trouble, and in a way, everyone would win. She got the flags, they got to gaze upon her magnificent visage.

Although this scarf was a bit much. Ian wore a scarf.

She did not want him getting ideas.

xxx→→x Cabbage watched the sky in fascination, wondering if it was going to rain. Despite the slowly cooling weather he felt warm in his outfit, skirt swaying around his knees and black coffee (purchased from the cat cafe before the game started) keeping him warm. He stuck to Kesi's side, wondering where the others were. There was no point in going to look; Cabbage knew the game was divided by house. It was a good thing he absolutely ADORED his housemates!

He flashed Kesi a smile, momentarily admiring Asha's choice of outfit. He waited until she had her turn speaking before giving an eager nod. Cabbage wondered how hard it would be to get a flag. He wasn't very good at athletics, and the first years hadn't learned many interesting spells yet. He had a feeling he wasn't going to be very useful, but Cabbage didn't have the capacity to be worried about it.

"Yeah!" He chimed in eagerly. "Let's work together!"

                            It was ******** cold.

Elvira hovered near Adrienne, shivering with a sour expression clear on their face. Living in Florida meant that Elvira was used to heat, not whatever hellscape Justus was. Why the hell did they have to participate? Elvira would have loved skipping out, but unfortunately they had gotten dragged out practically last minute.

In retrospect they felt that it was kind of nice that people noticed when they were absent, but it still ******** sucked. How the hell were they supposed to get flags off the Tomas kids? Finley was probably their best chance.

Maybe I'll lure them into a conversation and distract them, Elvira mused. Then they immediately discarded the idea. Finley knew them too well, and it would be risky. There were...more important things than a game.

"Where the ******** is the sun." Elvira muttered, trying to huddle closer to Adrienne and wishing sorely the girl had more body heat.

Absentmindedly, they wondered where Asha was.

Adriene was happy! Chilly weather was so fun, because she got to wear warm sweaters and beanies, and she couldn't think of a better day to have the House Event!

Since everyone was segregated by house, she elected to stick with Elvira, and she would try to keep everyone else's locations in her brain(or phone). It's gonna be super fun, I bet, she thought excitedly as she listened to Shanta's strategy talk. I wonder who we'll catch first? She was hoping it' be Fin. Adriene wanted to see just how well they did at the game. When Shanta finished her spiel, Adriene smiled and nodded to show that she understood.

She looked up at the cloudy sky at Elvira's question. "Maybe he's taking a break today!" She said. As Elvira shuffled toward her, she opened her arms ever so slightly to receive her friend. "I'm sure we'll have tons of fun, though!"

Adriene squinted across the town, and could make out a very tall and more well-dressed than usual figure. She waved at it eagerly, sweater sleeve flopping about. "Look! I think it's Asha!" She said. This was going to be a great day. She could tell.

Bambi was very, very glad she wasn't claustrophobic.

She was also very glad that the scarf she borrowed from Ty was safe from her horrendous tumble into the well. It was a rather horrible fix; Pigolem, along with her precious violin was above ground. Meanwhile her legs were throbbing from the force of her tumble and her head felt dizzy. Bambi was pretty sure she had banged it against the stone.

For a second she tried lifting her arms above her head, giving a little wince as her shoulders grind against the rock. It would be a while before she could move; well, at least she could reach her phone in her pocket.

                                > um
                                > I kinda fell into a well
                                > but I think I'll be okay!

Wiggling her fingers just enough to press the send button, Bambi gave a little sigh. The water in the well fell about to her ankles, which she was inwardly rather thankful about. "Amanda!" She shouted, praying her friend was still around to hear her. "Please keep Pigolem and my violin safe! I'll just--uhhhh--stay in here until the game ends! Yeah!"

Bambi didn't plan on worrying her friend, nor slowing her down. So she shot up a reassuring smile at the top of the well and hoped it was visible. "Ahaha--I'll be fine."

It was going to be a very, very long wait.

Kesi was pleased that both of them wanted to stick with him. He smiled at them before looking back over the town. "Shall we begin?" He asked.

His wand was poking into him. He had stowed it in his apron pocket, on the offchance that he ran into a situation that required him to use his newly acquired plantwielding skills. He hadn't practiced much over the summer, but during school hours, he'd gotten the hang of it fairly quickly. He wasn't completely confident in his abilities to use his magic yet, but he wouldn't let anything happen to Cabbage or Asha.

Not that anything was going to happen, of course. He began to walk, hoping that his two housemates would follow him.

Ah, the house event. Muna had fond memories of his first one. He didn't remember much about the second; he was a little unsure that he wanted to. Muna had already taken off into the alleys as soon as the Lucian students had arrived in Justus. They were a loner house, so Muna had his doubts that anyone planned on collaborating with eachother.

He wasn't really that interested in playing in the first place. I'll take this time to finish up some of my orders early, Muna thought, giving a little pleased hum as he wrapped his mask around his face again. It was mostly a tradition than it was necessary now; the mask didn't offer any actual disguise at that point. Everyone knew who 'Merchant's dealer' was, it was just never acknowledged out loud.

                      > If you need me I'll be finishing up some deals Muna texted End and Shanta in their group chat, before pocketing his phone and shoving his hands into his pockets. Skirt swaying around his legs, he quietly disappeared into the maze of alleyways.

Icarus was hovering in the dirty alleyway behind Flare, hands in his pockets as he leaned against a wall, one foot crossed over the other. He wasn't hiding in any particularly hard to see area, planning on simply ghosting himself should he hear anyone coming. Should that fail to work, he kept his dominant foot placed firmly against the ground. Icarus was unsure who would bother going after him -- maybe Shanta, or Nina -- but he wasn't planning on making it easy.

He wasn't extremely invested in the event, nor was he feeling particularly competitive; it was just that Icarus knew that Yvonne wanted this to be fun for everyone. For Icarus, 'too easy' didn't translate to fun, and he was sure that as one of the only two fourth years from Tomas he was expected to put on a tough show.

Absentmindedly, he wondered how Din was doing. Ey were more than they seemed to be, at the very least. It would be interesting to watch if anyone planned on underestimating em. Tomas was all about being underestimated, though. Even if general opinion of them seemed to have become quite good in recent years.

In the midst of browsing his phone and replying to the messages from various people his father had been affiliated with (and had decided to come out of the woodwork now that the inheritance had made it's appearance, the annoying bastards), Icarus spared a moment to respond in the Tomas group chat.

Ty grinned at Shanta's vivacity - this year TOTALLY belonged to Janus. He was pumped as hell and nothing was gonna get in his house's way, ******** no.

The weather was admittedly a little chilly, but didn't come remotely close to how chill Ty looked. Black jeggings, an umbrella for if it rained, his ******** radical off the shoulder top, and sickass pink shades? Off the chain. Ty was feeling his look.

Ty glanced at his fellow housebros, thinking up who he should offer to team up with. Adrienne and Elvira seemed set - maybe Egg or Ziza? He really hoped they wouldn't pair off and ditch him. That'd be massively lame, although he wasn't going to lie and say he didn't expect it. Girls sure seemed to like that at this school.

"Cuties, sisters, girls without misters," he intoned, 100% smoothly, turning to them. "Y'all are lookin hella devoid of a partner that ain't me, so figured I'd offer my services, yo! Wanna take the competition and show 'em how it's done, Janus style?"

Accompanied by a signature wink, he held a palm up to each of them, waiting for a high-five.

Violet did not like being chased. She did not like running for very long, and she did not like hiding and waiting to be found. Her anxiety levels would shoot up. But she didn't want to dampen Miss Yvonne's mood, so Violet hadn't spoken up. But now, with this flag tied around her waist, Violet was starting to regret it.

She didn't actually want to wait around anywhere to be caught - Violet could feel her blood pressure rising just thinking about it. Instead, she lingered, in very plain sight, on a bench by the music store. As soon as someone came and took her flag (what if they tried to touch her!? Violet felt sick at the thought) she was going to hide out in the bookstore until this was all over. Violet liked the bookstore. It was nice and quiet and there was never anyone that tried to ask her if she wanted a hug there.

And she liked spending time with Mister Muna, but Mister Muna was probably very busy trying to find flags or something right now. For that reason, Violet didn't bother texting him. She didn't want to interrupt something important.

Instead, Violet sat on the bench and waited, stiff with the fear that someone was going to come along and try to touch her very soon.
