HEY GUYS So here's my plan. I'm going to drive down to savannah on the 5th or 6th or 7th of October, so my schedule's a BIT flexible, but that means I'd be in the DC area one of those nights, overnight! I'd love to meet people for dinner and hanging out while I'm there, so I'm trying to make a mini Matope meetup. Any preferences? thoughts on where in DC area is best? Availability? Is there anyone else we should be grabbing? OK THERE I MADE A THREAD.

I work 8:30 am - 12:30 noon on all three of those days, so any time after that is good for me to hang! If I need to be around earlier,my coworkers are generally chill about shift swaps so long as I ask early. I'm about 40min out from DC just direct distance-wise, give or take depending on if I decide to take the metro or drive into the city.
Despite living so close I don't have much DC experience outside of the Smithsonian museum district aka the mall, so I couldn't direct to kickass food places, alas. My dad used to work in DC for years though, so if we're trying to find something specific, I could potentially pick his brain on that subject. c:

I get out of class every one of those days at 3:15pm! c: The 6th would work best for me since I don't have class in the morning on the 7th so I wouldn't mind staying out late~
I explore but usually just for little things and free things or... like nature-y things so I know like good walking trails and things with plants.... Other than that, I'm only familiar with the mall for tourist-y stuff. I could ask around if we have something in mind. Otherwise, I sometimes default to Ethiopian when I have the money to go out?
I don't have a car, so public transit accessible works best for me! (Though if it's within a ~30 minute walk of a bus stop or a metro station, that's 100% reasonable to me.)

and be blue so where is everyone actually? I know tia's a good hour and a half from DC, so it'd be nice to accommodate her in all this. I know NOTHING about the area except that I stayed in a nice strip mall about 45 min from DC last time I drove...XD

For some reason this quote didn't go through... But ah- I'm in DC proper... Specifically, I go to Georgetown so my location is perfectly public.

I'm in Waldorf, which is off 301. 301 is our main road, actually...

Maybe meeting up in Waldorf is our best bet, though someone will probably have to go pick up Morphy from somewhere (I...think there's buses that go down to Waldorf...but does anyone want to ride those buses...) It's a bit closer for me, too. Unfortunately I think the restaurant selection is somewhat lacking, but Abby probably knows better than I do if there's anything good in that area XD
The sixth works best for me, too, or the fifth.

I will tell u right now Waldorf is basically chain restaurant city. lol You won't find anything terribly new or interesting here, but if that's what u like then we're heaven LOL. There's not much to do outside of wander around the mall and assorted department stores. That's how we have fun here.

Yelp does list a handful of independent restaurants that might be promising XD including a korean restaurant with four korean items on the menu and a lot of american food. apparently pretty good american food though lmao

ok we should prooooobably pick a time/place to meet up XD I think Waldorf is probably the better place to go, being about halfway between me and Morphy, iiiif that works for her transportation-wise or someone can pick her up at the metro station or wherever. There do seem to be a handful of independent restaurants with good reviews on yelp, so I guess...whatever Blue's interested in eating? XD I get off work at 5 and it'll take 45-60 minutes to get to Waldorf, but I also don't have a problem with leaving early, lol especially since I probably have some overtime in my future.

Could I make the executive decision to meet up on the 6th? OuO That's the day that works best re: me not feeling like I need to get things done for the next day. Also the 5th would just be horrific because I have an exam in my worst class on the 6th.
And I'm cool with meandering my way to Waldorf after class! I can either take Metro to the farthest stop (I think probably Branch Ave on the green line?) if someone is cool with picking me up or I could take a bus to-- ah- I think Google Maps is giving me St Charles Mall?

Could you do the 7th? God, I'm not sure exactly when I'm leaving yet, still. It needs to be the day I leave, and that probably won't be the 5th, but now I'm also trying to time it along with the end of TIH meta lol >_____> Let me know all ur availabilities and I can make it work tho.
