The Sparring Arena is a separate area of the Soul Society, located within the Outer Limits, that allows Shinigami to battle each other without risk of dying. A new device invented by the Department of Research and Development (Division 12), known as the Sparring Suit, can now protect the battlers from death by automatically reverting its energy to shield the wearer from a lethal blow, shutting down in these situations. Division 12 has currently invented three types of suits; each for a different style of sparring.

The Three Types of Suits


* Blue Suit - In this suit; Zanpakuto releases, Custom Skills, and Kidou are disabled. The users fight using stats, skill, and their Zanpakuto's sealed form. This suit has a hit count. After being struck five times, this suit will shut down; making this a "First to Five Strikes" fight.

* Red Suit - This suit limits both users' Reiatsu to 50, with 10 in each stat. Also known as the "Even Battle Suit", this suit also only allows users to cast the lowest level Kidou from each set, and will only allow users to release their Shikai. Custom Skills are disabled while in this suit. Because everything but their Zanpakuto's release is disabled, this suit makes users mostly fight on skill and tactics alone. This suit will shut down if struck by a lethal attack. ((An attack that would have killed the wearer))

* Gold Suit - In this suit, users can spar at their full strength, stats remain unaltered when this suit it put on. The wearers are also allowed to use any Kidou, Zanpakuto releases, and Custom Skills they have unlocked. Like the Red Suit, this suit will also shut down if struck by a lethal attack.
