What's a proper price for a piece of art?
What's the average selling price?
:-S
I think it really depends on the work. For example how skillfully is the artwork rendered? Is it really colorful/realistic/detailed/has a lot of things going on in the art/or is it very intellectual?
This is a high quality piece of art that probably costs a whole heck of a lot:http://montessorimuddle.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Street-Art-by-David-Walker-in-London-England.jpg
And this piece maybe costs $10: http://img00.deviantart.net/83a3/i/2012/202/f/1/therunaway_bad_guys_by_anime_gamer_girl-d584oz0.png
As the artist you take into account:
1) How long did you spend drawing it? Minimum wage where I live is $8.25 per hour. So if you take that into account if you spent 1 hour on the drawing then you could hypothetically charge $8.25 for it as a fair price.
2) How much did you spend on the materials used to create your art? Let's face it art supplies is EXPENSIVE, so if you bought a $50 marker kit for a drawing then maybe try to add on an extra fee, so you can make that up. So if you were going to charge $8.25 maybe bump it up to $10-$15.
3) How much would YOU spend on it? Put yourself in the buyer's persepective, and try to look it your art objectively. How much would you actually spend on art? Is it just a sketch? A fully colored/inked/shaded masterpiece that looks like it took a lot of time to make?lol
I thought to sell for GaiaGold, not for real money (^u^')7
Anyway your post is fantastic!! It's really accurate and clear!
I'll surely keep in mind your advices for the future! Thank you *bow*
