Sometimes you don't even come here because you need a haircut. You just like the atmosphere.
The front of Marianne's salon is the waiting area, with several chairs set up neatly in the corner for waiting customers. Just next to the door, there's a rack pushed up against the wall with shampoo, conditioner, and various other hair products that you can buy on your way in or out. Every surface, from the walls to the receptionist's desk to the linoleum tiles is clean. The receptionist's desk is white and sleek, as is the computer set up on it. Help yourself to some of the mints from the desk - they're good quality! A sign lists Mari's rates, but Merlin students get a special discount if she likes you.
Behind the desk is the salon itself, with five styling stations along the walls. Each one's personalized to the stylist's taste. Also along the wall are other various salon necessities - special sinks to wash hair in, a manipedi station, and a few dryer chairs next to a rack of magazines. There's usually three or four other stylists tending to customers whenever you walk in here, always wearing the Mari-approved uniform. (It changes once in a while - Mari likes to keep up with the trends.) The walls are painted with light pinks and blues and greens, easy on the eyes, and there's a few speakers mounted on the walls to pump in upbeat pop music.
Marianne herself isn't around all that often to do hair, surprisingly. Most of the time it's just her workers. None of them are really sure what she does - it varies from "spends a lot of time with her family" to "actually a secret agent working for an organization so secret nobody knows its name". But that's ridiculous, of course. Marianne is just a very hard worker.
Regardless, if a Merlin student calls her up directly, Marianne prefers to do their hair herself. She can do anything - a cut, a dye, a shave, a perm, a bleach... she'll even make a house call if you're really desperate. She's not always available, though. Sometimes she's away on a mission working her other job. Sometimes she's too drunk to get out of bed. And until recently, sometimes she's hanging out with a certain greasy man running a black market out of the back of a cart.
