ITT we discuss music.
Everything counts as long as it's related with music. Wanna buy an instrument but confused? Ask out. Stumbled upon a cool underground band and want to share? Enlighten us then. Composing and want ideas? You are welcome here.
Also Beatles is hella overrated.

So you like and are obsessed about music... but you could potentially put down people's taste in music...
Interesting.. I hear crickets in here.
What is your favorite instrument? And who do you think plays it the best?

What is your favorite instrument? And who do you think plays it the best? I particularly don't have a favorite instrument as they are just instruments to make and play music. Like a carpenter and his tools. You can't use a saw to carve wood or use a chisel to cut it. They all have their purposes. But I play guitar so I'll go with that one. Who plays it best is a sloppy question as there are many master guitarists that have their own style. Petrucci, Satriani, B.B. King, Hendrix, de Lucia and such. I also want to hear your opinion as well.

Hmm.. I am of the same mind. I don't particularly have a favorite. There are ones that make sounds I prefer more. But I do appreciate all instruments, even the silliest ones. I like to learn about the different techniques it takes to play instruments as well as how they are made and well.. their history.
I'll say a piano, since I have a personal interest in it. Though... I like the Didjeridoo. It makes an interesting sound and I find the technique to be useful for more than just paying the instrument. A player has to learn to inhale while exhaling. Which isn't quite as easy as it seems. Practice I think. I also like the sounds of harmonicas. But I think that is because I have heard a few good players.. and they are not used often. Well.. at least to most of the music I am exposed to.
As for your brass instruments.... I only prefer them with certain song/melodies. Forgive me... My memory has diminished. As such, even if i once knew the correct terms.. I will have forgotten them. So, please excuse my floundering of terms.
I do not think it is a sloppy question. Some people may have a preference or opinion who plays a certain instrument the best. Just as a song maybe sung by many, but a person may like a particular person's voice and style of singing that song.
Do you think popular music, pop, rap, etc. The songs that are on many radio stations have the mathematical elegance that classical music had?

Uh... I find any music that is complex, or mathematical properties to be quit amazing. But there are certain artists... and the way they play their instruments that steals my breath away.
I think the most beautiful are those where you have to listen closely to what is going on, while the whole thing takes you away, but even the parts are stunning. If that makes sense.
And I would include singing and sometimes lyrics. The voice is an instrument... and some lyrics are moving. But perhaps lyrics are a different form of art... Hmm...

What I meant about was that nasty solo vocalists and their so called music. I enjoy music as a whole. Guitars, basses, drums, vocals and so. It's nice to hear some good poetry along with music. But as I said, it's not that important for me. I recommend you Under a Glass Moon by Dream Theater. You said you like mathematical structure, I think you may like it.

Do you listen to music from other countries as well? I am from Turkey so of music I listen is from an other country. Jokes aside, it's really not my kind of thing. I was interested in the muslim sufi music at some point. After research, I found out that they are p the same thing. The scales and rythm patterns used don't allow much diversity. Japanese is similar too, but it gives a little more freedom. Ottoman music is another thing though. Ottoman note table contains over 60 notes while western table consists only 12. Imagine the fun you can have.

Does Turkey not allow a lot of bands?
Why did you not consider going into music as a career path?
What are areas that you would want to go to, to hear music? Music is important.. but there are some fun places in the world that make the sounds amplify or echo or... structure is very important.
